Chazy987 Posted October 13 Posted October 13 From Zero (excluding tour) is archived. Fantastic, great album (4/5). My question is straightforward and concerns the next sound: will the band surprise us once again, or will they "retrace" the path they took during their first part of their career with Chester? Let me explain: are you expecting a From Zero 2 with some variations (Meteora), or will the guys take an unfamiliar path (like M2M back in the day or, even crazier, OML)? My idea: a more pop album with lots of electronica and heavy hip/hop influences. Few pure rock episodes and at least one song completely new to us (like a Blues Alt. Rock Song)... Quote
bloodbath Posted October 20 Posted October 20 I think that Overflow would be key, now that they have recognition of the fans again, it's time to "betray" us, with a new stilistic sound. Quote
Qwerty18 Posted October 21 Posted October 21 I just hope they stick with the approach of writing what sounds the best to them, and see what they end up with, regardless how different it is from their previous material. Like, I'm sure it's going to be different from From Zero, because rewriting the same stuff would be boring to them. But I don't think a forced 180° is needed either, unless, of course, they really want to go for that. Keep your foundation, build on top, extend it. Add new spices. That's what I would like at least. LP is one of the band that lose a fan wasnt a priority. they thankful for those who sticks around till this day. Quote
JZLP-Benningstrong Posted October 21 Posted October 21 they'll keep doing more Meteora vs LT songs i theyll stick to what actually works for them, probably add some guitar solos but i can't expect a huge change. Quote
Sukotto Posted October 25 Posted October 25 I imagine more evolution than revolution. Like HT to Meteora. also, missed pun opportunity in the title - ‘From Zero 2 or roads untraveled’ 😅 Quote
DCrecelius Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Is it too early to start the hype train? Choo Choo! Quote
RYG4R Posted October 26 Posted October 26 What they need is to re-create the foundation of HYBRID THEORY sound but sounds like in 2030? They achieved that with A THOUSAND SUNS. Though From Zero is the closest thing we've got but it is basically re-visiting XERO era, hence, you have glimpse of Fuse. Another direction that I want the band to experiment is the 80s SCI-FI, retro-futuristic theme like Muse's SIMULATION THEORY. Or basically, I just want them to make a great collection of songs. Each songs are produced by different producers with minimal input from SHINODA and DELSON and LINKIN PARK acts the EXECUTIVE PRODUCER. Quote

leftshoe18 Posted October 26 Posted October 26 I would love to see them push the envelope on the heaviness. I think Emily has a great edge to her voice that shines on heavier songs. Getting something riffy and heavy like The Hunting Party with more polished production would be my dream for this iteration of the band. Quote

Mike is a Metallica fan, The Black Album could be a perfect inspiration for LP to push that heaviness to a whole new level. BOB ROCK is the perfect fit to produce that. Quote
MMM Posted October 27 Posted October 27 I won't predict what the band will do. Because as usual, they will surprise us all, but I will write what I would like this album to contain. - Definitely more interesting riffs. On FZ we have Two Faced, Casualty, IGYEIH in its entirety and the bridge in HITC. The rest are powerchords and octaves. Brad is sitting at home, let him show off a bit and give a skill challenge for the next tour for Alex. - More Rap elements. A rich samples. HITC sampling is one of the best thing for me on FZ. A return to Mike's classic rapping with a more interesting flow and less schematic structures. I'm not as much of a fan of mike singing as most of you. I prefer it when he raps even though his flow is worse than it used to be. - longer tracks... -...with more unusual structures like they do with LYF - guitar solos - instrumental track or tracks - 12-15 tracks Quote
RYG4R Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Melodic rap from SHINODA that dates back from HYBRID THEORY era. but what if HT is made in 2030 that kind of concept? Quote
LPLStaff Posted October 30 Posted October 30 They should take a break as long as they want - no rush on a second album. If they need 6 months to recharge before working on it, then so be it - the world tour is massive and has to be exhausting. Quote
DCrecelius Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I would not be shocked if they’ve already got a batch of demos ready. (I mean come on, Brad, Mike, Colin, and Em are all songwriters) and there could be songs like Unshatter/Let You Fade that were demos during the making of FZ but just needed more time in the oven. I think Up From the Bottom is probably our best look as to what is to come for the band. Recorded and put together after the first leg of the tour, it’s kinda the first song (to me) that the band was fully together/comfortable to put together, whereas FZ was mostly worked on as the band wasn’t fully formed yet (ie Brad not being on board until late in the sessions.) I hope we hear more songs that are more in tune with Emily’s writing DNA, along with Brad’s since he’s involved from the start this time. Quote

AFAIK, it was made as a single for the deluxe release, so it was meant to fit with the other From Zero songs and have some commercial appeal. It definitely sounds like LP from the first second, there's almost nothing unpredictable about it (maybe the bridge is an exception). I think the band will want to evolve on the next album and make it sound different enough from most of the stuff on From Zero. Quote
