I don't understand or see the comparison between both countries. That is irrelevant to this conversation.

Before LP's first show in Tel Aviv, a lot of specific organizations with the help of Roger Waters tried to have them cancel their show, which failed.
Is that what you are referring to

It's delusional to think that LP could play a show in Israel in 2025, international space station would be more likely. The comparison with Russia is very easy to understand

People criticizing Alex when his sounds is probably all crafted by Brad and Mike lol😝

This is actually true.

Mike and Brad are obsessed with perfection pretty sure that if Alex had atleast one thing that Mike didn't like he wouldn't be part of this massive comeback.

Alex its doing great for sure the sound of the band will never be the same.. Its like if we criticize Colin for playing the song in his own style, or Emily for being herself and not doing stuff like a Chester clone.

Alex it's mentored by Brad, he's a very chill guy pretty sure that he let him have some freedom on the way he plays.

Im so grateful for the bands comeback, a price had to be paid and I'm extremely happy that the band is back and even stronger than ever.

Not sure if we are all on the same page here. Do we mean sound-wise or rhythm-wise? I feel like some of us are talking past each other lol.

That’s a big difference in the discussion tbh.

If by "rhythm-wise" you mean off-beat, then definitely not that. Alex is playing to the click fine. His technique for a lot of the older songs (especially the HT ones) is fucking things up

I still have the feeling that we are in the process of finding out exactly what the problem is. As I play the guitar myself, I've also tried playing a few things the way Alex does. I keep coming back to the point that the guitar sound is different in some places compared to earlier times.
I can play the Papercut palm mutes like Alex does and it sounds much more like the old sound with different amp settings etc. than it does now.
I've watched a lot of videos again. And I mostly notice the guitar sound. And if it's the guitar sound then maybe it's a stylistic choice by the band.

What exactly do you mean by technique?

He palm mutes and picks more aggressively than Brad does, and he almost exclusively plays everything with downstrokes. Points is probably the most notable example of that last part. The strumming pattern was pretty important to the sound the original riff had

Thanks for the clarification. Need to look it up again. But yes, like with every instrument, small changes can make a huge difference in terms of the sound that gets out of that.

I think its important to point out to non guitar players that these songs are EXTREMELY easy to play. Alex is a strong player, if you don't like the sound it can be because:

1: Brad/Mike have decided to make some changes to how it is played

2: Key change of the song

3: Guitar tone / Amps, again decided by the band

After watching all the shows, my only complaint is with WID, the tone is horrendous (maybe time to switch to a PRS Silversky?)

Tone-wise, I wouldn't expect Alex to have much freedom of choice.

I feel we're nitpicking a bit. Sure, there are some noticeable differences in some songs - APFMH having too much palm mute in the verse for example - and indeed, different picking patterns can alter the sound a bit too, but it's not like he was playing wrong notes or off beat. Which ok, should never happen for professionals but still, I think the guitars sound fine overall.

It sounds passable for a cover band, but the actual band themselves need to sound a bit better with the guitar, IMO. The strumming makes sense, maybe that's why POA, etc sound so different. Papercut.

In other news, this looks like the full show:

Ahhhh I'm really jealous, and since fans in China usually don't post on LPLive, I think I should express this jealousy for them too😡 And I do feel for Austrilian friends, haha.

Tbh we have been anticipating a China tour eagerly ever since September, since the last lp tour was in 2015, and there were only five shows back then. A lot of people have expressed their regret of not getting tickets to these shows. But there seem to be some problems (as expected), and we've been left out, at least until now. AND we're not gonna be able to fly around the world just for a show. Some of us are able to go to South Korea, Japan or Indonesia, and others may be studying abroad in Europe or America so that they may consider going to local shows. But most of us are busy guys who can only consider shows near home.

So promise me you won't forget us, all right😂Please...

It’s totally understandable to feel that way—missing out on seeing your favorite band live can be so frustrating, especially when it feels like the opportunity might not come around again soon. 😟

China fans have been waiting patiently for a tour, and after such a long gap since 2015, it’s no wonder there’s so much anticipation. Those five shows back then clearly left a huge impact, especially for those who didn’t get the chance to attend. The logistics and challenges of international tours can be tough, but it’s still tough to feel left out.

For fans who can’t travel far or afford the expense, it’s even harder. Hopefully, your voice (and the voices of fans in similar situations) gets heard, and the band considers adding China to their next tour schedule. It would be amazing to see them return and give more fans the chance to experience the magic live! 🤞
