In this interview Mike tells who was the song OML about. It was about loss of their friend, Amy Zaret, who was a record executive, and passed away in 2015.

We already know about that from earlier interviews. It was in one of the first interview.

So instead of Hendrix or Santana, Linkin Park’s Brad Delson drew his inspiration from Run-DMC’s “Raising Hell,” the crossover smash released in 1986. Delson, whose band recently landed atop the charts with an album notably light on guitar, doesn’t look at the leap from ax men to DJs as a bad thing.

“Music is music,” he says. “These guys are all musical heroes, whatever cool instrument they play. And today, they’re gravitating toward programming beats on an Ableton. I don’t think that’s any less creative as playing bass. I’m open to the evolution as it unfolds. Musical genius is musical genius. It just takes different forms.”

Paul Landers of Rammstein talks about Linkin Park:

Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach talks about Linkin Park:

Jacoby, Linkin Park have received lot's of critique these days. KoRn didn't really make friends with their attempt to bring back memories either. Your new album on the other hand gets celebrated almost everywhere. Why's that?

No idea. Maybe it's because we chose to steer a middle course in opposite to Linkin Park and KoRn. But I really have to strike a blow for the other guys. I mean, what the fuck? You can't simply diss a band like Linkin Park only because they're barely using any guitars. The guys still write awesome songs. People should really calm down. If a band isn't allowed to evolve any further we really have to worry about the business.

Big up to Jacob Shaddix for this, but the interviewer is exxagerating saying the new PR is celebrated everywhere. I mean it was mainly ignored, sadly and it debuted in the US selling like 30k

On the other hand I obviously don t agree with Landers because I really enjoy OML and I love LP changing sound, but I think THIS is the way people should express criticism towards the band, because it s respectful and you can build a dialogue on it. The "this shit is pop, makes me feel vomite, worst shit i ve ever heard. I listen to true music like [insert the name of a generic super stereotyped metal band here]" on the other hand is fucking dull IMO
