Well, while driving to work today, I thought that it would be cool to combine all of the comparison threads into one big informational thread.

What I mean is: we can create a list of various songs version, and write how are they different. But as opposed to already existing lists, this one will include every possible version we have, such as Radio versions, Alternate mixes, Demos, Clean/Dirty versions, etc. We can use original Album version as standard version, and compare every other with this one.

Do you think it is a good idea?

basically it's a good idea.

the radio/alternate/clean/dirty version are already in the same thread, and the demos is in other one. i'm not sure but i don't remember song that have alternate/radio/etc and demo too (but again, maybe i'm wrong).

so we can add the studio versions to Rasputin guide in the demos thread, or we can make one list as you said.

anyway i'll help as much as i can.

I think it's a great idea to just have one thread for one unified list. Having a list halfway through a thread with about 5 other lists in the same thread is kind of confusing in my opinion. Anyway, I'll post what I can think of:

One thing - we need to add exact time for each track.

I think I'll do it later today... or not (cause I won't be home, damn it)... I just want it to be done by the same person for all of the tracks using the same software, and using proper FLAC rips with EAC, so that we have exact length with milliseconds.

And we should add original album versions too.

BTW, for each HTEP song - there should be two versions: original and LPU reissue. They are different.

Oh, and also we can add Japan albums, as they have different mastering (or whatever) if someone can describe the differences. At least, as far as I remember - spectral frequency for those albums are quite different comparing to US albums.

You guys should try to arrange the list in a chronological order; the list as it is now is kind of a big cluster fuck.

step by step. we need to add the length too, but since Castle of Glass is doing the whole thing by himself (which is better imo), it's gonna take time. just be patient.

and by the way, Castle of Glass - great work so far :)

I'll add the lengths as soon as I get to my PC, and it can be somewhere on the weekend.

Also, actually we can add all official sources, such as OST, Soundtracks, official compilations, and just note, that these versions are exactly the same as for example album or single version.

Oh, btw, HTEP songs have black font again, which is unreadable on Reanimation forum theme.

i'm not sure how much is necessary to note something when it's exactly as the album version.

It can be useful for cases when someone finds that there's some other source for the same song, and he wonders if it is exactly the same, or has some differences. If we don't add it - he can think that we didn't know about its existence. We can just make something like:

In The End (album) [identical: RAID OST, In The End single, etc.]

Maybe it's not really perfect way of doing it, but you got the point.
