LP Albums And Rarities For Every 20th Anniversariy Album Edition.
YRQRM0 replied to AJ93's topic in Everything Linkin Park
Do we really only have one Hunting Party demo title? That's crazy. There's gotta be at least some interesting alternate melodies/lyrics to the songs we got, if not more unheard tracks. We know the outro of All For Nothing is something- 133 replies

I wonder if the "Blood Anger Suffering" outro of Figure 09 will be anywhere on the 20th release. Like as lyrics to another demo we haven't heard yet, or if it's on any of the live shows (I'm sure it's written in the setlists here but I haven't looked)
-
I know, I was just responding to the previous post that said they didn't think those lyrics fit. Your vid shows it's the right key/tempo (unless you altered it). And it's such a short phrase it could fit anywhere, starting on any beat, so I don't know what there is to doubt

I finally listened to the track. Wow, the bridge is very interesting, and a showcase of a bunch of different Chester vocals. I think More the Victim might be my favorite of the 3 tracks, but I can totally see why they went w/ Lost as the lead. It's so Chester-focused. I think Numb was the better choice for sure, but this might be better than Easier to Run for me. Also, the mix is great. I can certainly hear the modern touch on it, mostly in the drums I think. I'm glad they gave it that, and I'm interested to hear how the 2003 mix will sound.

It sounds like it could fit just fine to me:

I noticed that the Xero page still says that Pictureboard has never been released, and also has no mention of the name Ashes or Flower (though Ashes is described by its lpu moment)

I agree w you, I'd be happy to have a surround mix for a quality surround setup space that the band liked. But the way Apple and Dolby market it make no sense to me. Most people would get orders of magnitude better sound by just having better speakers/headphones, and Atmos is never gonna translate to retail spaces, the beach, bars, the club...so stereo mixing for such spaces will continue to be an art in and of itself that takes years to master. Their marketing makes it sound like the future of everything will be Atmos when it's just not imo. Doesn't mean it won't work ofc. I know people proud of their surround setups and then they'll demo it with YouTube and an all stereo setting on their amp, not even realizing the difference from an actual Atmos source

The third version is the 2002 mix, which is only included in the CD set of Meteora 20 but seemingly not the full box set (maybe not on streaming either?) Also, the video in the game had the word resolution in it, and that game seemed to be leading to Lost, so it kinda makes sense. But yeah, I'm not totally convinced either.

I am also wondering that I'm also thinking that people are getting their hopes up too much about things like A6 vocals. I expect it to have some form of vocals, but more like some nonsense scatting and very unpolished takes that won't exactly make for a lot of replay value, like the Mike BTH demo.
-
More the Victim is amazing! It's a surreal experience hearing those vocals after dozens of listens to Cumulus. I think I'm decent at writing melodies, but those are so much more interesting than anything I was coming up with in my head

I'm pretty sure he went on to say that he liked the song as a choice because it showed that even back then, the band was exploring beyond the HT sound. Also, it's not a bad song. But it absolutely is not the sound the general public thinks about when they think of LP, and for that reason, I completely agree that it would get less attention naturally. I think they could have promoted something like Part of Me to more success tbh.
-
Kinda surprised they'd release another brand new track and not something like "Faint w demo verses" or something along the lines of In The End. I guess they really wanna keep the momentum going from Lost. Hoping for the best in terms of success for these two tracks

Yes, I have been guessing that for a while. I don't think most of the Atmos releases that came w apples big push are actually blessed by the artists. I've followed CHVRCHES closely and they had nothing to say about their spatial mixes either. It's something only a few artists embrace (and it's cool when they actually want to use it), and otherwise just something Dolby wants to sell and Apple wants to show off as a reason to subscribe to them.
-
Finally heard Joe say in this QA that they don't particularly care for the spatial audio mixes of old albums. So glad they're not pushing that gimmick personally, it's so dumb

Perhaps we'll get the 2002 mix as a download through the website, as a reward for playing through the game and something for the hardcore fans. I really want there to be something from the site that isn't immediately available publicly, lol. Otherwise, it just feels like a (fun) glorified announcement.
-
I also have doubts that we'll get new music. Personally, I'm keeping my hopes low and thinking that the discord is just gonna be for some live band interactions to go along with Meteora20. Like Brad hopping on for an hour one day, Phoenix another, etc. Then maybe they'll share some additional files of demos, like slight variations of Lost or something through the discord for us hardcore fans.
-
We got the Part of Me demo along with Part of Me (one of the multiple versions) on HT20. If they're giving us Lost and there's an interesting demo version, I don't see why they wouldn't also include it. Some songs, like Animals vs Roads Untraveled, sound drastically different in demo form vs final.

Or the opposite, like Voices/Chance of Rain. -

I'm confused, how do we know about this "Lost [2002 Mix]" and what makes us think it's different from just "Lost"? -
Didn't we also get a snipped of a My December remix in some video that never got released? Big shame about Polyphia, that would have ruled. Hopefully Mike can do some streams or something and we can get some of these eventually

Mike Shinoda NFT "Cathedral" and WarpSound Remix
YRQRM0 replied to lpliveusername's topic in Newswire
I hate to say it, but Mike's instrumentals like these have gotten a bit stale for me. His skill is unmatched with the sound, but the sound itself is predictable. I would love to see him step out of his comfort zone more. Give us something really live and organic. Work with some session musicians besides Dan on drums and give us something with space and room tone that is unrecognizable as a Shinoda track. Something like Three Band Terror or the organic sounds on some MTM tracks would be awesome to me. -
I had a lot of fun listening to the mixtape. It sounds like something we would hear in an unreleased demo, but actually polished and released! And I love how the tracks blend together. This is my fav work of his since PT easily.

Hmm that's very interesting. I don't doubt that there exists a 5.1 version or that things like audacity convert atmos to 5.1 to make it understandable by the program. Or, if you don't know where that file originated from, maybe it was converted by whoever ripped it from atmos to 5.1 But to further convey the point of atmos, consider the headphone use case. If people are really hearing surround in stereo headphones, it has to be atmos and channel agnostic. Because it's using only 2 channels with audio processing tricks to make it sound like surround in the 2 headphones. Otherwise, it wouldn't know how to do that, and you'd either hear just the stereo mix, or missing sounds. But yeah, still very curious to get some info about Mike/band's involvement in this and if they are fans of it. Personally I'm still very skeptical that this will even stick around. I see it as dying like 3D did in the home TV market.

Where do you see that media info? On a player of some sort? Atmos is supposed to be encoded with spatial data. It's easier to explain with a movie. Traditionally, you would say "that explosion needs to come from the right, so put most of it in the right channel, some reverb in the back right, maybe a little bit in the center, etc." But with atmos, you just tag the sound as being to "the right" and the player will use atmos technology to decide what speaker it comes out of. So if you have no right speaker, it will just play it out of the other stuff in the best way it can. If you have 100 speakers in a circle, it will play a little bit out of a bunch of speakers in whatever way makes sense to make it sound like the sound is coming from where you said it should. That's why it works in headphones, too. Because it's using trickery in the sound to make it sound like things are coming from other directions, even though there are just two channels in your ear buds. So atmos doesn't deal with channels as much as it deals with direction. Sound will come out of 3.1, 5.1, 6.1, 7.1, 11.2. 22.2 etc. because the hardware will push the sound out in whatever way makes sense. Whereas if you play reanimation's 5.1 mix on a 11.1 system, nothing will happen with most of the speakers because rather than having direction encoded, it just has channels encoded that go to the speakers.
-
Well it's certainly a new mix but it's not accurate to call it 5.1 or 6 channels. Dolby Atmos is channel-agnostic and instead encodes with position data, and then just "places" the sound where it should be to the best of its ability with whatever hardware is available. But yeah, given that it's a new mix that seems super significant and I'm surprise the fandom isn't looking into it more. So, if anyone's willing to ask him on twitch, that would be great! This is as big a deal as stuff like She Couldn't getting a new master for HT:20. Bigger even imo
