  1. Yeah, agreed now after a lot of perspective and opinions dropped in this thread, that it isn't Chester.

I could see them releasing some OML stuff one day, like Friendly Fire. I would assume WAYW/Ricochet won't get released because now Mike (and undoubtedly the band's mgmt, and now Warner too) are most likely LIVID at Brian. Not only did he register these songs prematurely himself on BMI, he leaked WAYW and Mike over a year later is still pissed. So they may not ever release those two.

They likely have MUCH better material from that era. Friendly Fire, Out Of Reach, Lost My Horizon, Tidal Wave etc are probably better/more complete. Friendly Fire and Tidal Wave are with Jon Green and he has two songs that are pretty good with LP already... Mike loves Friendly Fire... so I bet both of those unreleased ones are actually great tracks.

If Pictureboard will really be released on HT 20-Year CD Edition, I can see "Friendly Fire" being the new "holy grail" of unreleased LP songs, at least for the hardcore fans lol

Agreed. "Thoughts That Take Away My Pride" (which probably has a real name to it, but that's what we call it, from the Meteora era) is number one. Friendly Fire number 2. That is, if they release Pictureboard. We have no idea if they will even release it or not.

But a full Meteora b-side with vocals is extremely rare, we have nothing like that from that era.

Friendly Fire and WAYW should be on OML album what's the point to release 10 songs on cd? At least 12 songs....or 3 EPs with 5-6 songs released in two years something like Trent did with Bad Witch, Add Violence and Not The Actual Events

WAYW/Ricochet were done so early in the OML process that they are essentially demos and not completed songs. They didn't progress very far. Friendly Fire and Out Of Reach are on the song board near the END of the album process so those are closer to being done. The band obviously voted to have 10 songs instead of 12... they picked the 10 best ones they felt they had. Mike said they even disagreed with him and didn't want Place to Start (under another name) to open the album before Nobody Can Save Me.

I agree OML is too short but it's just what they wanted. Maybe they released a deluxe edition one day with more songs.

Can someone point me to the part he talks about Xero name origin?

"Someone asked the origin of the name Xero but Mike told a made up story about Greek mythology."

Im Greek so itd be super interesting for me, maybe I can add some stuff to the story too for all yall.

He told a made up story. It wasn't real.

  3. Since it's 2020, is there a way that anyone knows of where I can pay $ to get a WOWOW stream here in the USA somehow? Or get it on my TV? Surely there's some possibility to do this.

I'm looking forward to this stream because we don't have some of these songs that even already aired.

I hope they show Castle of Glass, but if they show whatever has already aired, at least we will get an upgrade because we are 1) missing songs, and 2) in a spot where we don't have all of the stuff as one source.

  4. Mike said ages ago, Iike a decade, Machine Shop was not going to continue signing artists. Because they couldn’t agree with WBR on releasing stuff etc.

Mike absolutely deserves some credit for Skylar. Not all, but some. Alex too. Everyone knew the girl because WYG exploded globally. She changed her name and Alex had known her from WYG, and helped her launch it. Her music now is absolutely abysmal but she is successful at least.

From the tracks on Xero Tape, we know the band worked on Rhinestone; they "rescued" Reading My Eyes for 2006 live shows and Stick N Move were described by Mike as a fan favorite in Xero shows. But what about Fuse? Is the only track of the tape that doesn't have any mention besides the tape itself. To simplify, we could just ask about the song (if Mike remember about it in first place)

He just answered. Useless answer lol he said it was one of his favorites and he thinks it leaked online at some point.

  6. Out Of Ashes is incredibly overproduced, you are right. This is not as overproduced as that, but it's close. Howard Benson really did Chester a disservice. However, Ryan Shuck did say that the album was a lot heavier before they turned it in and were forced to change it, so maybe the label was an issue too. Some of the stuff like the Let Down outro is just horrible though.

  7. China gets so butthurt about everything. Literally can't handle the stuff with Zoom and Tienanmen Square, they lost their minds at the LP Dalai Lama 2011 stuff and banned LP, etc. No wonder Mike is afraid to speak out against China - he wants to play the shows there for the huge fanbase and it isn't the fans fault that the government is so insane.

All of these stories were good. I liked the Xero one a lot.

Brad is in the It's Goin' Down video.... so I wonder why he didn't play guitar in the video.

Prove You Wrong is your least favorite song in the WHOLE catalogue? What about Lies Greed Misery, Hit The Floor, Until It's Gone, etc? Pretty bad tracks.

  8. Promises I Can't Keep sounds like it's right off of Living Things, and I mean that in a good way. They need to play that with LP. Fantastic track, one of his best solo songs and it fits in with the LP music perfectly.

  9.  I think his comment was about Hybrid Theory vault stuff, which surely they are running low on when it comes to non album songs. But they probably have demos of Pushing Me Away, Runaway, stuff like that which we haven't heard before.

They have some full Meteora songs unreleased. MTM forward, they are probably LOADED on demos. Just unreal amounts for MTM, ATS, and OML specifically. Probably much less for LT (album was made very quickly, and a portion of it was ATS leftovers) and THP.

They'll talk our heads off about how much material they've recorded and how good it all is and how excited they are like they always do. Then they'll cut it down to 12 tracks for the album like they always do. And then they'll never release any of the remaining tracks, like they always do (Minutes to Midnight being the lone exception).

Researching threads with Peppe for Linkinpedia and it's funny how accurate this was lol

Except it was ten songs and not even twelve.

I'll consider buying a ticket if they stream the set in full. I don't want to buy a ticket to watch a mash-up of all the performances featuring like 1-2 songs from each performer...

I'll gladly do it if it means we just get one LP song, I mean I'm spending like $0 on LP this year at all until Mike sells CoronaJams (if he does) or LP drops a HT release. Ha.

Been a big fan of OM&M for a while now. I was so bummed when the NA THP tour with them got cut short. Really fascinating to learn that Mike had a hand in Feels Like Forever. I always felt that song along with You're Not Alone were basically just heavy LP style jams.

With that being said, I would be ecstatic if they collabed with Mike. "Get Mike on some heavy music again"!!

At the Orlando and Nashville shows it clearly seemed to me that they were using pre-recorded vocal tracks/lipsyncing lead vocals at times.
