Meteora is probably one of their most well known albums which is considered by many to be a classic. After MTM they lost a lot of their earlier fans. The first two albums are often in the run for best LP album by more casual people. Plus I think it would make a great package overall because there was a lot more stuff during that era.

Oh, and obviously "No Roads Left" with Chester  would be on my top 2 list, too.

That’s a good point. They more than made up for any lost fans with MTM because MTM into New Divide was the peak of the band, they were bigger then than ever globally. More sold out shows on the MTM tour than any previous tour.

Would love both a Meteora and MTM box set.

couldn'T it be that the thing they had to clear for Pictureboard was the bass track rights by this Antoine guy?

No. It isn’t confirmed he’s on the song, even. Astat found the sample of the song.

Check the Linkinpedia page, it’s from Boogie Down Productions.

August 7th, my question was the second one that day, about 1 hour 56mins in. He even pulled up the youtube link on stream.

Thank you, we must have missed the last 2 Q&A summaries, we'll get to them ASAP.

    for me:
    Summer Sonic 2006

    Rock Am Ring 2007

    and MSG 2008 proshot

Yeah those 3 are must-haves. Not sure if they filmed MSG 2008, LP didn't start filming every single show until the ATS era. But SS06 and RAR07 are ABSOLUTE must haves for release.

This was just a live show outro, maybe not a real track but again, Attached was used in that format in 2001 so you never know.

This one is it for me. Ever since I watched the LPTV episode for the very first time in... January(?) 2003 (imagine all the hype after so much time without any real new LP stuff!) I couldn't get it out of my head. To this day I catch myself humming the melody of this thing and I hope we'll get it with Meteora20 (which has to be a thing). For all I know it could be the same as "Thoughts That..." but however it may be, receiving this song will be a full circle kind of thing for me.

Pretty much all my holy grails are from the HT and Meteora days. So one down, one more to go ;).

That'd be great. Hopefully they do Meteora. HT20 is going to have to have very good sales for them to even consider it, most likely.

    My top ones are probably:
    1. Thoughts That Take Away My Pride

    2. No Roads Left w/ Chester

    3. In Between w/ Chester

    4. Friendly Fire

    5. Rob's Meteora drum track

If they have something with A-Six with vocals, that'd be great.

  4. The Gorge is amazing. I went there for Dave Matthews Band last year and it was a surreal experience - what a place.

Indeed it's cool that in 2001 they had the back of the stage "open" so you could see through it and see the scenery behind it.

Not sure who owns the video content there. Probably the venue actually.

I think people get too wrapped up in Mike being the public-facing frontman of the band. It's not like he's going to just go rogue and do everything himself. The rest of the band is probably deeply involved in the process behind the scenes, picking what bonus material and demos will make it onto the anniversary release. Mike's just the only guy that talks to the public/press about anything LP right now. That's always been the dynamic.

All I can say past that is that I'm going to smash the buy button on the biggest package, whatever it ends up being. Take my god damn money.

Agreed. Example: For years we all assumed Brad didn’t do much in the band. Then we find out he’s the secret sauce, the mastermind producer in the studio around the ATS era. Lmao.

LP was very involved on this.

Am I the only one who finds it kinda weird there doing this whole promotional campaign now? The re-release doesn't come out until October. It's still early-August. Like, let's be real here: it's just a remaster of an album with new material, and while that's cool, does it really deserve a marketing campaign two months in advance? Maybe late-August or sometime in September, but giving it all this build up is a little weird imo

Yes because they could get a #1 album from this. That’s a big reason. It’s also the huge blow out celebration box set for their biggest album ever. If they teased this for a week people would be disappointed. You’ve gotta go all out for Hybrid Theory. Plus the campaign is fun, I don’t see anything wrong with doing it now.

What if they launch a preorder this week and we get hella content from now until October?

Agreed. I'm kinda bugged that some of the songs aren't making it. Maybe these songs are all the ones that the band actually liked at some point trying to get the record deal for Hybrid Theory though, and those other songs weren't? We know So Far Away wasn't really on any of the discs that have been leaked for example. Maybe they never really took that song's potential seriously so they aren't releasing it here.

As I said before, why are you assuming there’s just one disc? The promo literally just started, there’s way more to this than 12 demos. I’d be shocked if So Far Away isn’t on there. Let’s wait for the official announcement and see what it has.

  8. It’s entirely possible some of the demos are different. Maybe they’re not.

Maybe there is even more than one CD to this. We will have to wait for the official announcement, it’s hard not to speculate but we need to not expect things that could be false - like we have no idea if this is Chester’s audition tape BUT it could be. It also could be songs with Mark on vocals.

Looking forward to whenever they announce it.

  9. I really disagree about the Mark thing. He was a part of the band’s beginnings. It’s certainly reasonable to think he could be on this. This isn’t an LPU demo CD of only LP stuff. This is like a “time capsule” sort of thing of how the band began and their rise to fame - all centered around the Hybrid Theory album. It’d surprise me if not even one song with him was on any of this.

I remember these flyers. I think Mike's wife shared them on the 10th anniversary? I know I remember at least 2 of these.

Yeah Anna shared some around the Sunset Music Festival. We submitted all of this to LP in March.

  11. It’s likely the last songs on the CD are the versions we already have. Quality upgrades maybe. But And One isn’t there so they will likely release the HTEP one.

The Xero songs could be with Mark, they may not be the Chester versions. We will see.

We removed the Dropbox leak from April as we were asked to not share that here.

Nice job by WBR to incorporate Mike’s leak into the promo campaign haha

I'm expecting there to be several different "levels" to the anniversary release in terms of how much stuff you get, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if the biggest box set version costs like $500.

So they can just add Interactive Art Sculpture + 2CD + artbook and the whole release for $500 is ready :)

If the Recharged box set was $500, they need to absolutely destroy that release (like, beat it) in the best way possible, so I'm totally down with a $500 set if there is enough content.

Imagine if they just blow this thing up to epic proportions, with stuff we could never guess. Good quality, exclusive merch, unreleased songs, live stuff, like Metallica does. Totally down for a big price point for that. They only have one shot to do this right - do it as big as possible. There are VERY FEW bands and VERY FEW things from those actual bands I'd pay that much for - Hybrid Theory 20 is one of them. There are a couple of things off the top of my head that if they potentially include in this.... you could just name a price and I'd pay it. Let's see what they do.

  13. Interesting. Jeff is probably not involved in the band's HT20 celebration because they don't have a good relationship with him (see: "Get Me Gone" by Fort Minor, & Mike's stream where he mentioned the "In the End" demo). So this is his opportunity to cash in on the album anniversary and blowout.

No doubt there will be good info here, and great photos especially. Check the photos of Chester on the cover without flames, and also of Mike's Xero tape. He saw Xero at the Whisky, so he probably has awesome info and photos. Jeff was very instrumental to LP getting signed and getting them to Warner but it's a shame he made the band so mad after they started recording the album.

  14. For some reason, DF2 does not do it for me. I really enjoyed Dropped Frames 1. The second volume seems noticeably shorter to me, time-wise. I do like Transitions and King Paprika, but the album is missing something. It's almost like a lot of these were outtakes from the better collection of DF1, but I know that's not the case.

DF1 is pretty damn good. Super Galaxtica starts it off well and Cupcake Cake is my favorite track on the album. The real highlights are where Doodle Buzz goes into Channeling pt1, and then the back-to-back of Session McSessionface and Neon Crickets. Both of those are awesome songs - Mike on the bass on McSessionface with a sick beat at the end, and on guitar on Neon Crickets.

Anyway, I liked the composition of the DF1 songs much more. DF2 only has one transition, from Sunset Drive to Channeling pt2. Overall, the songs seem like they had less work put into them and I also don't enjoy the two 8-bit-style songs, especially coming after Super Galaxtica on DF1 which is pretty close to a masterpiece if you're using samples like that. I just have a hard time finding the quality music that I found on DF1.
