  1. I think name dropping Trent Reznor at the end was a smart move. Nine Inch Nails are a band who are known to have pushed boundaries in rock music. For anyone who knows Nine Inch Nails, it's not difficult to make the comparison from records like Pretty Hate Machine & The Downward Spiral to Hesitation Marks. March Of The Pigs to Came Back Haunted is a big transition. I'm not saying that an album like Hesitation Marks is a bad album, in fact I think it is a beautifully artistic album, but it is not an album that challenges the listener or pushes any sounds or ideas. It incorporates many pop and soundtrack elements.

When more and more rock bands (for example, Nine Inch Nails & Linkin Park [pre-The Hunting Party]) are incorporating the pop sound into the music, there is little music left that has excitement for rock music fans and it also leaves the radio high and dry in terms of rock music music. The only rock song featured in the New Zealand Top 40 right now is Final Masquerade, and that isn't even receiving radio play.

Personally, this is just my reading into Mike has said. I agree with him to a point, but at the same time, the world is changing. Music can exist without record labels and radio play thanks to the internet, and now the radio and record labels and holding on to each other in order to not fall apart. It is causing them to play it safe and stay away from artists that aren't producing the homogenised sound that represents the present (youth) culture. It makes sense for all parties involved and it's now up to individual artists to do as they please because they don't need record labels or the radio anymore, they can bypass the whole system and still make a living. It would be great to hear rock music in pop culture again (and I'm sure it would if the pop / rock "zeitgeist" continued), but trends come and go and right now, rock isn't a trend.

Edit: Also, I have thrown the Red Bull Sound Space in my diary. I can't wait to hopefully hear some new songs live.

  2. I think the reason may be the uploader, I think that he/she though that, if he/she speeds it up, then he/she will avoid getting his/her account deleted, because of some kind of copyright reason.

    Nope. I'm the uploader.

It isn't sped up, it has been pitched higher, but that is how it was streamed online. I'm not sure if it sounded the same on the TV stream but my flat doesn't have a TV so this was the best I could get.

  3. Aw man. This means there is a lower chance that High Voltage or My December will be dropped.

Edit: I forgot to say, this is a cool insight into the band preparing for the show. I'm hoping to see more, and longer, LPTV episodes soon.

  4. I really like this video. Although I haven't heard the album yet, I think it captures the energy that Mike has been saying the album has. They're not standing still to perform this, they're really rocking out. The camera shakes etc. add to this. The colours and smoke remind me of The Catalyst's music video.

Nice, the band trying new effects is great to see. I wonder if it was directed by Joe?

  5. WOAH. This was my first time watching Linkin Park on a live stream. I have watched Linkin Park live concerts but I haven't watched Linkin Park concerts live (apart from in person). It was such a thrill getting to watch it while chilling with everyone in the shoutbox.

This was also my first full show from the tour that I have watched. The show energy was amazing. Everyone was smiling, the crowd was pumped and all in all, it sounded pretty great. I hope Linkin Park come back to NZ for the The Hunting Party world tour.

  6. I am holding off until release day here in New Zealand. The three tracks were enough for me.
That aside, once again, THE ARTWORK. The artwork is so damn good. I love it. This whole single series' artwork is amazing but this one is my favourite so far.
That's all I can comment on at this stage, except for the fact that I can't wait to hear it haha.

Hahaha, this is great. Thanks for posting.

I always had a feeling this was bound to happen. As soon as Its just brad doing his part, hes bound to lose time. Given theres no click track in his ears or Robs high hat tempo to go by, hes pretty much just needs to go on his rhythm tempo. Chester tried to adjust hearing Brads guitar but was then thrown back out again when Rob came back in. It just sounded scrappy as hell haha.

Thats a prime example of when on member doesnt have click in their ears when the rest do.

Yeah. Rob was very obviously tapping his hi-hat foot at a particular pace which Chester was keeping up with but once Brad came in, things got a bit messy. I didn't realize that Brad had no click track.

  8. I have just begun listening to the .mp3 and wow, they really fell apart at one point throughout Guilty All The Same. They managed to pick themselves up pretty quick which is good though. I'm looking forward to seeing how it's going to sound by the album cycle's end. I'm hoping that it will sound very tight.

Wow now I really love the WTCFM part on mikes medley.... also I haven´t seen someone asking this but insnt the synth part in the until its gone opening with no more sorrow over it from the new divide moscow intro? oh and by the way I m new here hello everybody :D

    Welcome to LPLive Jodeln.
I'm looking forward to seeing you around.

  9. Hey Everyone,

I am currently trying my hand at collecting and would really love to keep up to date with all the merchandise, music and other collectibles that become available throughout the latest album cycle.

The only piece I have come across so far is the Until It's Gone 2-Track.

I have pre-ordered the Deluxe CD + T-Shirt + Lithograph from linkinpark.com. I will be grabbing the CD + DVD on release day in New Zealand (and vinyl as soon as a vinyl release is announced). Beyond this, I haven't seen any other official merchandising for The Hunting Party.

Please let me know if I'm wrong, or update me when something new is released. I am happy to update the post to keep everyone else informed

  10. I didn't think that the Waiting For The End live video was pulled off as well as it could have been so fingers crossed some people take some high quality footage at this show. I also thought that adding the Twitter handles / names was a bit excessive. It's nice to give credit, but I think that can be done in the About tab. It detracts from the video a bit.
Good luck Milan, and do us proud.
