  1. damn, missed the final four. TLGYA has got to win... it has so much more depth and intensity than Faint, even if it's not about being downright fierce from start to finish
  2. this looks like it'll be a fnatastic resource. I'll give it a look and see if i can help out with anything. great work! EDIT: I have scans of the fake HTEP if you want them...

    UK Tour confirmed!

woohoo! haven't been on for a few days, but it's nice to hear news of a uk tour, not just the ever vague term "european tour" definitely after the US though, there's no festivals for them to go to this year
  4. I agree that New Divide could open. I was going to say the BID might open, but i think it's unlikely - it'd be as if they wanted to get the song out of the way "right! we've played that, now for some Meteora!"
  5. but they also said, about the descision to use swearing, that there are times when the most immediate reaction (to swear) is the most real and pure for a song. sure it's a "lazy" way to react to something like that but in terms of their lyrics it makes for a more abrasive, real quality. I can't find the source but I'm sure it's chester who says this somewhere. EDIT: found it -
  6. fuck! these are all really difficult choices... (17) Across The Line vs. (8) Faint - because ATL deserved to be only a b-side (13) Leave Out All The Rest vs. (5) Waiting For The End - because I can't listen to LOATR any more... (31) The Little Things Give You Away vs. (39) In Pieces - because it's an epic song (35) Don't Stay vs. (6) Bleed It Out - because I love Don't Stay's swagger
  7. well that might dispel rumours of instrumental/interlude tracks [openfloodgates]
  8. right ok then, one popular song getting dropped on the ATS tour. yet OSC, Crawling, ITE, Faint, BTH, Numb, What I've Done, Bleed It Out - all singles/popular songs remain. theory upheld yet? and the whole thing about chester singing with full force, at the top of his lungs pretty much every other night for over 90 minutes on a say... 30 date tour? you ever tried doing that? it's difficult, your voice won't die - i think you're exaggerating what people have been saying about this - but your voice can be pushed too far, leading it to "wear out" or succumb to illness. your throat has a lining that has to be maintained with fluid and if you keep flinging that out of yourself (the amount of spit in microphones after a gig is. so. disgusting!) you'll just wreck your voice for a few days, and for a touring artist that would wreak havoc with your band's plans.
  9. you've got the power chords right, but I don't think you've got first part the intro line correct. not sure if you're sharp or flat, but it sounds dissonant. also, take your treble down - it's uncomfortable to listen to the high notes on a guitar when the treble's as high as you've got it. what amp do you use?nice shirt though, I was wearing that one yesterday guessing you didn't like it then why's that?
  10. by the looks of what everyone's saying, there seems to be no special edition yet shame really, I quite liked getting the big shiny versions EDIT: you never know though, they may announce a new edition nearer the release date. EDIT 2: but then again that would piss off everyone who came in earliy for pre-orders so... go figure... (with or without the .09)
  11. haha you don't need to link me to jen
  12. you could be right, the titles do sound like demo titles that they just stuck with. alot of the ATS titles are relevant to the choruses/lyrics - Waiting For The End, When They Come For Me, Burning In The Skies, Wisdom Justice & Love, Blackout, Wretches & Kings. but that's if you forget The Requiem, The Radiance, Robot Boy, The Messenger, The Catalyst, Jornada Del Muerto, Iridesc- ok, ignore that theory
  13. "you're a _____" would look quite funny on the forum i tend to censor myself, or just take a step back and logically dissasemble something but that's just me. it was out of curiosity really.
  14. I am totally necro-posting here but I want to clear up about few things about this hilarious thread. I was front row for the entire LP saturday, and everyone around me was singing really loudly throughout pretty much the whole set. I don't think any other band got that kind of attention from everyone, altough, granted this is from one small segment of the crowd - and let's face it, I wasn't paying full attention. I did not get a sense of the crowd moving about/moshing alot, since I didn't feel at any point like I was being crushed or moved about or anything. there were certainly a couple of crowdsurfers - two guys dressed as native americans paddling a dingy over the crowd being the higlight. but like i say, the audience didn't feel "crazy" to any extent. on that note, DBS should not have been in LP's encore. they killed the vibe alot, much as I enjoyed watching them, there were alot of people who were'n't into it. they were not bottled or anything, but the crowd was understandably quiet during their slot - no-one knows the words or song, no-one's going to jump about or sing. LP has a lot of casual uk fans, and i doubt alot of them were that interested in a side-project. I quite enjoyed DBS because I was really interested in all the hype, but some friends i met at uni who'd also been at this gig (small world eh?) had been stood nearer the bacl and were in amongst a bunch of people who, they said, seemed "bored" by DBS. my friends even thought that Crawl Back In was the band covering Song 2 by Blur and started dancing about going "woo-hoo!" to it before realising their mistake EDIT: they were also not advertised in any way other than through word of mouth, so anyone who wasn't following what LP were up to in the lead up to the show wouldn't have known, and it would have seemed strange. but like I say, they weren't bottled or booed, they were just sort of... watched. and on that bottling note, most bottlers don't piss in the thing before throwing, the only time I've ever seen bottles (or anything for that matter) was at "Fact" (Sonisphere '09) by fans angry that Coheed and Cambria had to be moved to Bohemia since their ferry was delayed, and at Bring Me The Horizon (sonisphere 2010) because everyone seems to think oli sykes is a dick... but I've never seen anyone piss in one. chester's comment about wanting to top muse and take the "best live band title" following their performance was an oversight on his part. this was my first gig and my first time seeing LP, but the friend I went with had been at MK bowl '08. and she'd said that the sonisphere didn't feel as special as MK had. the two of us noticed how little the band spoke, I can't remember how i felt about the setlist at the time because that wasn't really something that bothered me, i remember wishing they'd played TLTGYA. but i understood that as a festival show (with the aforementioned casual fans) this wasn't going to be a reality. I think the point is that any uk festival show for LP, is going to have a vast amount of diversity among fans. I can understand people saying that Stuttgart was better, because LP has a much bigger, more dedicated fan base there who'll be willing to show up to festivals specifially for LP, not like soni '09 where you got alot of families coming along for Heaven and Hell for example. as with any festival show, for any band - the keen ones will be near the front, and the less interested fans will be nearer the sound desk and the back. the taper at this show was definitely stood near the back because people were only really clapping at songs etc., down where i was, it was more about cheering and making lots of noise for the band. it's easy to get mixed reviews from festival shows for this reason, but it's fair to say that this was not the best LP show by any stretch of the imagination. the channel 4 broadcast was faily average, and i didn't see any of the vids fomr the USB wristband (I lost it in my house...). the audience recording is muffled as hell and to be honest, does not give an accurate representation of the crowd reception for the band that night, it's good to have at least a full recording, but it is a little disappointing that it makes LP seem... not badly received, but makes the crowd seem somewhat nonchalant... I saw a lot of LP/LPU shirts and alot of other people who were sort of "camping out" down the front with us, so it's not like no-one was that bothered by LP being there, but sonisphere was a relatively diverse festival, with alot of families, and different kinds of music fans. in all, LP at Sonisphere was built up a little too heavily, and there were a few let downs (pardon the pun) which made it an enjoyable show, but not one that'll go down in history. MK is still tops I hope this settles some stuff.
  15. was about to ask the same question...
  16. why is that? is Ukraine not in the EU? I can't remember...
  17. congrats romania you need a visa to go to a concert!? *awaits "COME 2 DA UK!!! PLEEEEEZZZE" posts on LP's facebook, twitter, tumblr, instagram, youtube videos, myspace (you never know), personal blogs, lp.com blogs, fan sites, fake twitter accounts...*you name it.
  18. +1 JUST LIKE HT/Meteora!!!!! hahah on a more serious note however - () apparently they wrote alot on the road for this record. it's possible some old demos made it in, but considering the amount of "tinkering" LP do with their demos -"Stick And Move" vs. the finalised "Runaway" for example (ok, bit different i know since that was years apart but still!) I'd be pretty sure that if old ATS demos were used they'd have been updated to suit the current mood of the band's music.it's kind of irresponsible of bands to just take b-sides and put together the album like that, since you're not reflecting the current best of your ideas and musical progression. and the album itself would feel a bit stilted and uncertain to place, I'm sure LP wouldn't be dim enough to do that - for themselves and their fans. Mike's a workaholic, i doubt he'd let that happen
  19. not too bad really, although I'm guessing half of that was on postage I dunno, I'm questioning whether or not to preorder from the US store with the LPU package. Aside from registering with an unused code in an ebay-bought copy of LPU9 2 months before LPUX I've never been a paying member, and couldn't renew once the new site went up (I felt pretty guilty about getting in free for a while so i guess I didn't want to email customer support ) it'd be cool considering there'll hopefully be a new tour, but i don't know when that'll be, if I'll be free for it, or whether I can afford LPU in the first place... money's real tight for me right now justify the linkin-pie [/rap skillz]
  20. well i read that on LPA. livingthings.linkinpark.com is now displaying the preorder stuff that I didn't see last night. ignore me! EDI: although, you're ordering from the US store, if you change the region at the top of the page to "UK" it takes you to an iTunes page to order the BID digital single. I guess they want UK people to pay UK postage and £, so they're setting up a different store sector that the $ version. at least the official single's now in UK iTunes though
  21. i too would be interested inseeing what "words" we can and cannot post. I often wonder about swearing and stuff...
  22. from earlier comments I too think "Tinfoil" will be some sort of instrumental track. I don't think this is in any way the band trying to replicate HT's track progression, but, I dunno, I know we've had a lot of talk about not judging things by titles, but I genuinely cannot see chester pulling a "MMM cookies" on us and singing about cookery... EDIT: unless it's something about a crumpled up reflection? (here we go with the "Forgotten" comparisons) yeah I wondered that too... I don't think there is because part two ended with Zane saying something along the lines of "ok, final two questions beore I let you go" (paraphrasing). maybe LPM got a bit mixed up? I thought there was a physical rlelease of a "Making of-" for ATS? I certainly have a DVD copy of one... :/ oh, and i just saw this - great... I may not be planning on pre-order from the site, but I'd still quite like to see the pre-order packages available
  23. the band being popular has nothing to do with it. most of the discussion concerning LP's live durations are that Chester needs to use his voice but not overstretch it, to play for about 3 hours each night would kill his voice. venues are strict about timing - every venue has curfews which bands must to adhere to or they get fined for over-running and violating noise laws. also I don't think you can compare LP to Foo Fighters, or any other band for that matter. Foo Fighters/Green Day etc. bands that play these real long sets each night are entirely different to LP. relative popularity has nothing to do with set duration, it's dependant upon each individual band. LP choose not to play these long sets. And quite frankly, I don't think they could pull that off - their stage presence isn't massive, they play the songs and don't make a much of an effort to interact with the audience and put on a show per se. I'm not dissing the band, that's just their style, i think nything over the 1 & 1/2 hours they already play is long enough, three hours of that would get really dull.
