Except LP attended the Out of Ashes shows and Chester attended the Fort Minor shows - both were showing support to one another. Mike talked on social media about that.

LP used to give the stage to DBS during their encore to perform a few songs. LP also performed Welcome by FM. They always supported each other's side projects.

I remember when Mike brought Chester out to sing on Where'd You Go in 2006. That was a great moment.

The question about the unreleased songs from OML was mine. The question as Mike read it seems very general. Actually, I added specific demo names from One More Light to my question (Out of Reach and My Horizon) but unforunately, Mike read only the first part of my submission.

I must admit that I don't believe what he's saying is true. Obviously, fans have too high expectations when it comes to demos like Pictureboard or Thoughts That Take Away My Pride. They are treated like holy grails but may truly be not as good as fans think. However, I'm sure that they must have around 16-17 almost-finished songs for each album before they choose the final tracklist. It's just how things work. We know songs like Across the Line and No Roads Left which could go straight to Minutes To Midnight and replace one of the songs with no problem. I believe that besides Friendly Fire, they had Out of Reach and one or two songs that were considered to be put on One More Light. Same with Living Things or A Thousand Suns (maybe one or two albums had fewer b-sides than Minutes To Midnight but they had to have one or two at least). Therefore, it is possible that these songs may be better than the ones put on the final tracklist because music is always subjective. Then, I can't believe Mike when he's saying that they always release the best songs on the album because his view is definitely not fully objective. It is impossible that the only fully finished songs are the ones released.

He meant that they put what they decide, as a collective, are the best songs to put on the record. It's definitely subjective. Music always is. They made the decision to not include NRL on Minutes to Midnight, when most of us all love that song and think it should have been included.

So, in his opinion, the best LP songs are the ones that have been released on their albums.

    Great reply.

There's a PT interview where the guy is totally rude to Mike and the LP team cuts the interview off, or tries to. He asked something about LP I think on the PT tour.

Since at least Meteora they have a person on their tour whose job it is to handle all of the press stuff, so they sit in the room and will cut the person off if they ask insensitive/wrong/improper questions so the band members don't get trapped. The woman who has been doing it for LP and MS is really, really nice and good at this.

Omg... are you talking about the asshole who was like "You guys ARE getting a new singer, correct?" "How do you feel about the possibility of foul play in Chester's death?" I was angry for Mike when I watched that video, and to his credit Mike kept his cool.

I think it came down to the band's vote of In Between vs NRL for some reason. Rick and Chester were the only ones who voted YES to every song on MTM.

It still just doesn't make sense to me, but somehow along the way, the band voted NRL out.

I just mentioned In Between because, to me, that's the weakest song on that record. I actually like it, but in comparison to the rest and NRL I would have voted it out.

Also, In Between and NRL are the only two songs with Mike on lead singing vocals, so it makes sense to compare them for that reason as well.

    Blackbird, Across The Line, Primo

Someone give me more examples please😅

just look at 'In Between" and you know what I mean

Somebody should ask Mike to look us in the eyes (the camera) and say, with a straight face, that In Between is a better song than No Roads Left. Lol

  6. I remember SOB having an issue with the label. If I remember correctly, Ryu made it known that he felt kind of abandoned by Mike, because Mike was off on tour with LP during the whole dispute and therefore didn’t get involved on SOB’s behalf.

I Think he has said the story about

mixing and singing and how the words would stay forever with the song somewhere before.

when he started talking about Brazilians and South America i was like Dude but you know Portugal is in Europe right and then he said he knows haha.

i would like to hear nobody can save me now demo

i wonder what kind of the „unfair part” he would like to talk later on

I mean, we know in 2005 the band stood up to the label, very publicly, for what they perceived to be unfair treatment and shady business practices. They thought the label wouldn't back them appropriately with marketing/promotion, etc., and they wound up renegotiating their entire deal.

It would be interesting to hear Mike talk about that, and what the thought process was by essentially calling WBR's bluff by going public with their grievances, but I doubt he would go into detail on it now. The label and band's relationship has done a complete 180 from that low point. It was much more bitter than I remembered when I went back and read about it. Brad's remarks about it were surprisingly blunt.

I think Slow Ya Roll is worse than Things In My Jeep or High Rise, Like the Chester vocals sounds dumb and the beat sound like any " Free Sad Rap Instrumental" that you can find on Youtube

Chester's singing on the outro of that song was cool though lol

    Mike dropped the ball

None of the artists that he signed became successful

How is that his fault though? He got their foot in the door by signing them in the first place.

Interesting how Mike is on the fence about a new song with Chester voice (especially since he loves the song)

"A new LP song with Chester voice on it? You will literally have to wait years for that"'.

I wonder if out of respect / too difficult for them,  and | or keeping in it for a special occasion / waiting for the right time (= when LP future is more clear).

In a way, it is comforting they don't go easy with that stuff.  In the other, it is a bummer we won't get to hear it (in a long, long time).

I think part of it is not wanting to lean on Chester's legacy to find success as a band in the future, and part of it is wanting to dispel any impressions that they're cashing in on the loss of Chester. I think for them it's more about releasing that stuff when it feels like the right time.

Wasn't it that the label didn't really support her anymore? And she felt betrayed by them and somehow by Brad?

I don't know about Brad, but I always thought it was similar to what happened between Mike and SOB, where they were upset at Mike for not using his perceived clout with the label to get their way.

  12. Some casual fans probably don't know about that complicated history and just know that she worked with Mike during TRT era of Fort Minor.

I don't think the issues have ever been publicly acknowledged by either party (I could be wrong). She was asked about Mike on a Reddit AMA before and she just said Mike was cool, but yeah I think there was some animosity between her and the label.

  13. Usually when he refunds questions he says why on the stream. Did he in your case? It could be as simple as your question being cut off. That happened to me before. He read a few words and then said something along the lines of “You got cut off, I’ll refund the bucks. See if you can condense the question a little more”.

Unfortunately those of us with deeper or more layered questions have to contend with the character limit of what Mike sees.

To be honest, there are other bands' fan communities spending several k of $ for such stuff.

The staff here and on LPCatalog sure did spend such amounts of even bigger on all their collections when counted together, too, I imagine.

Yeah, but we have no way to verify that any of this is even real. He just came in and said “my friend’s friend who is an executive at the label gave these to me. I can’t provide any proof at all because I could be charged with espionage.... but if you give me 50 thousand dollars I’ll take that risk.”

I don’t think a blind leap of faith is the best course of action in a situation like this.

Great to watch, i wish Mike would do something like that someday. Even PT stuff would be cool.

But i guess thats so speciffic that theres not enough demand 🤷‍♂️

Mike probably thinks it would be boring for a lot of people. He might be right, actually, but I know most of us would be totally fascinated. This whole video was great and the amount of detail he went into was awesome.

What are you talking about? There was nothing someone had to pay for. Don‘t create more drama if you don‘t even know what happened.

I mean, it's not that serious anyway. I was responding to these comments above:

And once again, the LP name has been used for false promotion.

So I wasn't trying to create drama. I was asking about the claims made here.

The "paid for" thing was my fault. I was thinking of the other festival that was selling "virtual tickets". I mixed it up.
