I decided to try something new here at mikeshinoda.com...an interview! I got to sit on the other side of the table for once, and put a few (hopefully thoughtful) questions to RYU of STYLES OF BEYOND. Besides getting their album RESEDA BEACH ready for release, he's been working on a truckload of amazing new music, sitting in the studio with Dre's peeps, and starting a brand new group. Here's what the man had to say... M: You're the first interview I've done for this site. Thanks for taking a minute. R: im fucking honored. your welcome, and thank you. i have alot more minutes than you do. So maybe i should be thanking you for asking the questions. anyways..what's good pimp sauce! M: I posted a little while ago about an incredible track you did called "My Little Razor Blade." Tell us about that track. R: we heard the original track by the Knife and loved it, so we did some hip hop magic and reworked it. that song has a certain emotion in the beat that is hard to capture in hip hop music. we actually have a new Get busy song called "shoot me up" that captures that same feel. maybe even better. Scoop killed it on the beat. cant wait to put my verse on that. i'll send it to you when its done Read the rest of the interview HERE. Thoughts?

So im about to write a long ASS paragraph on this AHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I friggin love Transformers. Have two jackets, grew up on them. I loved the first one. Now LP is helping with the score? thats friggin awesome man. Itd be cool to see the band do a cameo, probably not if they are done filming. But just by doing a score alone is a type of new LP music. Even if its 50-50 between them and the other score guy. And the new song may very well end up in the official soundtrack for the movie. Why not? What I've Done was, so why not this new song? And you know a new song also means.... NEW SONG FOR THIS SUMMERS TOUR's SETLIST

Usually one sells out by going mainstream for MONEY lol. I guess its your opinion then. Hes still frigging awesome. Scream has good lyrics (i mean the album and even the song itself). Keep your eyes out on a new review coming out soon for when i went to see him a few weeks back but anyways we have gotten way too off topic haha. So lets get some theories on what these new apps will be!

lol Jew From England HAHA epic man i cant believe you got your camera back. Lucky as shit dude

I can support this, if you guys think he did this to get more media attention or money. 1. The guys rich. Cmon hes got kids, a wife, and all of his guitars back (lol@thecourt for taking 14 yrs to get it all back), he has plenty of money. 2. He has people following his work from Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog, Audioslave and his other solo stuff. What more attention could he want? There are already people looking at him for a SG reunion. Plus hes been in the buisiness since before I LPXDC was born. 3. He puts in 200 percent in all live shows. He plays more then most bands usually play. He played till midnight at the show i went to. It may seem irrelevant but he could be a cheapass and play a 12 song set.

MTM was a meh for me at first, but when i listened to it more, the lyrics and how different it sounded. But it was a good different. It felt more techincal and better arranged. Dont get me wrong i loved HT and Meteora but it was good. Chris i liked the new album honestly. Who cares if he changed direction, there are really some good lyrics in some of the new songs. anyways. this phone application is in no way touching the definition of selling out From Wikipedia (its a definition cmon not anything major like rumors or anything) The phrase is frequently heard in the musical community, where it is used to imply that an artist has compromised his or her artistic integrity in order to gain radio airplay or obtain a recording contract, especially with a major label. Often, the label will force a particular record producer onto the performer, insist on the inclusion of songs by commercial songwriters, or the label may even refuse to release an album, deeming it uncommercial.
-
Well said, that phrase is used for almost every little thing. If a band does something differently Just ONE SMALL thing, its selling out. Lets see how this works out people

Wow Tak is kinda way woa on this shit. Frames could have meant "made out to be" or "looked at". Cajones? Its cojones, Tak if your gonna speak in a different language use google spell check please. (Hispanic Here ) , Plus no where here did you try to tell him he isn't allowed to express himself. Suck it off? Damn Tak really? Your telling a fan , (out of a very small following you have) to do that? Damn you must feel like a real "gaNgSTUH" for telling a kid that over the internet. And obviously not afraid to express yourself too at the cost of looking like a dick. Pretty soon he will be sp3aKiN l33t 2! Go hardcore on the comp while your at it Tak. Wow majorly disappointed.
-
to me imo, this can either be excellent or shitty. With these kinds of things its a do or die.
-
alright guys El Grande Master aka Hahninator said i should say this but pretty much Tak is also going out and playing shows in Asia (Taiwan as far as i know) and i had this to say lol how could he afford to go to Asia and not afford to put money into Reseda Beach? Thank you for your time. 1 Dissappointed Fan in Takbir and ill be glad to answer why i think this for anyone who wants to know
-
Why havent Tak and Ryu spoken? Differences? damn. that's horrible
-
damn i met Tak at PR07 he seemed really humble and grateful to be out on tour with LP. It sucks to hear negative feedback now. So pretty much SOB and Mike arent that good of friends anymore?
-
Cuz Bono invited LP to Live 8, they chilled with him and shit.

Just go to the threads with Julien-K in the title. I know some in here but i wont say names. Whatever Mark your the owner of this site, sure we need to keep the users happy but at the same time we need to cater to the fans who like Julien-K People who dont like Julien-K , okay you dont like the band, you should be mature enough to ignore it instead of spamming the thread with hate messages expressing your dislike about julien-k. im sure you mother taught you to be more mature then that jesus grow up a bit. Post that interview Hahn. It seems like a terrible waste to not post it when Felipe worked hard to get that interview. And when he does (he better ) we WILL enforce the rules of the board.
-
LOL me too man. I needed my precious hrs of night school. I blame Bono for that. MFR is good i like it. Even sport the MFR bandanna, but when they just talk about that i mean cmon there are SO many interviews about MFR from Artisan news , MTV etc; you can look to find about MFR.
-
From the looks of things, sounds like i made a good choice into going to night school instead of skipping it for this chat. Seriously its called Google if you want to know more about MFR? Sometimes i wonder how much the chat mods pay attention the questions. oh well. http://www.musicforrelief.org/ if you didnt get to waste a question on PHX theres more stuff on MFR right there

Technically its the second date, and they wont be doing DBS, if anything they'd be lucky if Chaz was down there because of the new LP album. And if Chaz was down there he'd only come out for TD.

It did fall around the same time last year in May.
-
totally redundant statement. Jesus Peter. But if its good then why complain. Would you rather them rush an album in 3-4 MONTHS and have it be shitty?

Linkin Park will be playing at Chatan Athletic Field in Okinawa, Japan on August 11. LPU members will receive 500 Yen off their ticket price from now until May 15. Tickets go on sale to the public on May 16 HERE or by calling 098-932-4480. Source here. The date fits nicely between the Osaka Summer Sonic show on the 9th and the Taipei Summer Rock show on the 13th. We've added the date to the 2009 page as: 11.08.2009 Okinawa, Japan, Chatan Athletic Field, Asian Tour Tight, seems they are still adding new dates! Thoughts?

Studio: Chester = oh oh Mike = All You've Ever Wanted AND Little Things Give You Away. Its mike's who sings both parts , they just added both of the parts in the mixing at the studio/ LIVE obviously he cant do both live which is why they have Phoenix do the Little Things give you away part, while Mike does the all you ever wanted part.
-
ah okay then! that sounds good. Hopefully someone ask questions that are worthwhile and not stupid ones
-
i dont think we should put this out there since its LPU related stuff but oh well. Im going to in night school that day most likely =[
