Has It Leaked? claims the album comes out in 5 days.
-
They were being somewhat arrogant and rough to some people who had asked questions, but I guess I can understand where it came from since a good portion of the questions were ridiculously stupid. Like one girl asked "I want to be famous where do I start??", they commented "Therapy.", and someone asked "When does the new CD come out?" they said "When it's done"
-
They are having a Facebook Q&A. Some questions I have seen answered that matter.. "Will the new album be death metal?" = "No." 'What will the new album be about?" = "We are still working out a concept." "How come you guys went with this new style instead of reverting back to an album like Meteora or Hybrid Theory??" = "Constant exploration, experimentation, evolution. It's not a straight line (in other words, we're not traveling away from the first album); for example ATS->LT" "Do you think that Linkin Park will ever revisit the days of Hybrid Theory or Meteora?" = " Donington Park between June 13 and 15." "Will you be playing "Hybrid Theory" in it's entirety for other UK arena shows?" = "I would say it's unlikely we'll play the whole thing." "Will Fort Minor ever return?" = "I have no plans at this time, but I'm open to it." "Of what kind will be your next album? More similar to Living Things or another type?" = "Different, or course." "Why you don´t remixed IN MY REMAINS ?" = "GREAT QUESTION. We actually didn't get a great remix of the song. We liked all these remixes a lot more...maybe that means we got it right on the original of IN MY REMAINS? HA" I'll post more if I see any other ones that catch my eye.

I agree with you about the whole rushing thing, I'd rather suck it up and wait it out a bit longer.

https://www.indabamusic.com/people/826386270?tab=overview Here is my submission, feedback? I'm pretty happy with it to be honest, everyone else seemed to have taken the EDM/Dubstep route, not me.

Nice! I see you've got some votes.

Well, I had just finished sitting here for the night making up my remix, and recording guitar parts, for 9 HOURS, and I have no idea how I came up with what I did, but it is NOT heavy, or MTM sounding, so I apologize for getting your "hopes up", Geki.. lol. I tried pitch shifting some of the vocals so I could change up the progression so I wouldn't have "What I've Done", but it was a nightmare. So I tried other stuff, and I think playing the vocoder and piano together got to me (I absolutely love the effect in the song, it was a perfect addition), it is ridiculously different from the original, and alot.. simpler? I can't even put it under a genre.. Lmao. There is no EDM or dubstep whatsoever, it's raw. And this is only a rough cut, I still have a long time to tweak things, or just throw the whole thing away. The song just has nothing going for it to be a heavy/rock song IMO. I look forward to having you guys hearing it when the time comes.

That's what I was referring to, and the same with Burning In The Skies, New Divide, and I'll Be Gone. Except the song is WAY too similar to What I've Done, down to the fact that it's played in the same key and the chorus guitar parts are so close.
-
I'm going to attempt to make a more "Minutes To Midnight" styled remix of the song, because I am not really sure I can make the song heavy, but I can try. For one thing, I can tell everyone right now that it's going to sound ridiculously close to "What I've Done", not that it's a bad thing, but geez.. the song is so similar, especially when you start stripping it down. There are so many little issues in the song like backing vocals being out of sync with the lead vocals at parts, the guitar work literally being slapped together, idk I feel they didn't spend enough time on it. Steve's EDM stuff completely hides most of the mistakes, though. I hope I can make it before the deadline (are we sure it's the 20th?) I want to finally participate in one.
-
I will attempt this.
-
Dear God, the guitar work is so sloppy.

Yeah I figured it was tied into the lyrical theme of nuclear war and such, I see the explosion and the light being shot at you through the paper, but I also see a bird, and anything else's weird my mind comes up with after staring at it. I think it's open to interpretation like Ducko said. And whatever it is, it somehow amazingly goes well with the album theme, it's so bland but it's really nice, I wonder what new listeners think of it. And the way they made the disc art go with the packet and the backing paper is pretty cool. Any news on a "A Light That Never Comes" remix? I want those stems.. Lmao.

Does anyone know what the cover art of A Thousand Suns is supposed to be?

I don't agree with you saying it's a mistake, there was nothing playing and there was nothing to mess up in the first place. Me being a guitar player who records, when I'm doing patchwork on my guitar tracks, I'll mess around until the part I am suppose to record comes in, so I have random stuff going on that I end up cutting out afterwards, therefore I think Mike or Brad were doing guitar patch ups and were playing random stuff until the part he was focused on came up, went back to edit the part they recorded it, and figured "oh hey that sounds cool " and tried cleaning it up. They are pretty defined picks at the string to just be a mistake. And you can hear the ambience in the room when it is played, so it was reverbed, and I SWEAR it fades in very quickly. Just my opinion, it makes sense to me atleast.

It's a remix album so don't take it too seriously, they haven't gone EDM.
-
I want to hear the song from "Making of Meteora" that shows Rob drumming in the room with they tuner in the screen at the right, it sounds pretty awesome.

Mike Shinoda Gives Updates on New Album
OfLefty replied to maik_gianino's topic in Everything Linkin Park
I think they got better with Rubin as their producer, IMO. -
great point, I am trying to not fall into the belief that it'll be heavy, but I won't tell myself it won't be, either. Ill be happy either way, especially since Mike said it won't sound like Recharged, so no EDM or dubstep. Lol
-
I hope this means what I think it means, listening to other stuff can influence.

Dude, I can't agree with you enough! BITS is easily one of my favorite songs by LP and I am a fan from back when "In The End" was just a single and was plastered all over the radio stations and MTV. I'm bipolar (no joke) so I can never pick a favorite song, the mood changes to damn much for me. xD I just love LP. When New Divide came out, I was blown away from how awesome it was, but it sounded familiar and I didn't get why, but then I saw a video mashing up WID with ND and I was astonished at how similar they were. And now ALTNC. Even Katy Perry used the same chord progression in one of her songs I heard on the radio hours before I heard ALTNC, as soon as I heard the chorus of the song I was pissed, it's such a catchy progression, but so overused. I mean, I like ALTNC, but it's too.. Steve-ish to be on a LP album. I am hoping they do a remix contest so I can get my hands on the stems and make a remix. The Rubin Reboot was a let down IMO. :/ Me too, man. My all time favorite video is Somewhere I Belong; spacious, has meaning, they look like badasses from the early 2000's because they were, it was just awesome. And I love Burning In The Skies' video, all slow motion, very powerful. This new stuff is just a waste to me, it does nothing for me. Whenever they show their faces you can't even make them out from each other half the time, how are you suppose to enjoy that? Oh well, I guess it goes with the theme of the music.
-
Not really feeling the album, at all. Maybe with the exception of the Castle Of Glass remix, it was pretty cool. Maybe it'll grow on me. I just want LPU 13.
-
After hearing the guitar in the LPTV episodes where they show how the song was made and everything, it's so obvious they stole the chorus progression from What I've Done. It bothers me so much. It also bothers me on how badly they buried the guitar behind all of the other.. "stuff"
-
I just watched the video again, and I definitely misunderstood and misinterpreted that quote, thanks for correcting me.

This isn't exactly a question, but it has been bugging me for quite awhile now (pretty pathetic that I constantly think about this), but I SWEAR, I have watched an interview on YouTube with Mike, saying how he can't recall if the band had ever actually recorded something in analog. Yet, in the "Making of Meteora" documentary, Rob says something along the lines of "During the Hybrid Theory days, I would have had 8 tracks stacked up to the ceiling of drum recordings with different variations." This was when he was introducing the Pro Tools rig to the camera telling how easy it had made his life making a drum track, and then learning how to play it rather than the other way around. So he used 8 tracks to record drums in Hybrid Theory? Maybe I'm mentally retarded and I'm missing something, or maybe the video of Mike doesn't exist, but I swear it does.

I would be so freaking happy if they released the stems like they did for Lost In The Echo. I do hope they do a remix contest because I know a lot of people would enjoy it and make awesome (and terrible dubstep) versions.
