This tour was the biggest missed opportunity to see my 2 fav bands collab, Jared coming in on a LP song or vice versa (Chester on The Kill ?) would have been sort of a dream come true. Kinda sad it did not happen
-
There’s no blame in my words, i just find it weird on a persona level, I never said that I want them to mention Chester at every show or dedicate a song to him every night. As I said, I totally understand what Mike said about the song OML, and I totally agree with him. I also wouldn’t want a celebration at every show via a song or a long “part” dedicated to him. TO ME it feels just weird that in the whole tour he was mentioned ONCE and seems that Mike wants to point out that an ambiguous song is absolutely not about him even vaguely. That’s all

There's no blame on the band, just notice that done this way feels a bit dry, like, imagine just Mike go "This was Chester's fav song so make some noise for him" before Papercut, that would be nice without being "too much".
-
That’s what I am trying to say, there’s a wide spectrum of stuff that stands between the two opposites of not mentioning Chester even once briefly and the other side of playing OML every night with a giant picture of him in the back.
-
I mean if your iconic singer for 20+ years dies by suicide it's kind of expected. I get the feeling he expressed on stuff like About You and other songs but it's kinda weird that Chester almost became a taboo. I repeat that, I didn't expect or even want a song about him on a new LP record, but if a song COULD be a sort of homage to him without being too direct why not? Why going "no it's not and the numbers on the song are not connected to his birthday", it's not disrespectful, I'd never say that, just bizarre
-
Doesn't need to be like that, nobody would ask about stuff off FZ since there's clearly no nod to Chester and that's super fine, starting over and not get stuck in the past grief after 7/8 years, but we are talking about letting the door open to an interpretation about just 1 song.
-
As a lawyer myself too, I get that there could be legal issues about mentioning him on a song or using his name or his vocals on new stuff, but it feels kinda weird that they push back every single reference about him. And I totally get that even if it was legally possible they wouldn't want to put on a new record like FZ a song like LFAA, totally understandable, but Mike responding something like "LYF is about not letting our loved ones fade away and keeping them always with us, it's dedicated to the memory of all our loved ones that are not here anymore" would have been more kind.
-
Mike always pointing out tha something is not dedicated/related to Chester feels a bit weird to me. Nothing against it, I have a lot of respect for Mike and the band and what they did to celebrate Chester, classy and well thought... But this urgency to push back any connection to Chester is a bit strange IMO. By the way, totally agree/understand about not playing OML now

Emily's abuse of letting the crowd sing
Soeffingnaive92 replied to JZLP-Benningstrong's topic in Live Talk
As someone who is not that big on the LP 2.0, especially live, I don't think it's a big issue, on the classic songs Chester used to do that a lot too, as someone already pointed out, on stuff like Crawling or the bridge of Numb and ITE. And yeah WTF was wrong with the shortened songs in THP tour ? Ykes -

Totally agree, as much as I like ALTNC it’s was pretty bad live -

Crazy that they did 3 tours after LT release and they NEVER performed IBG, RU, STB, UIB and Powerless, HALF of the album -
The more I listen to the song the more I like it, it’s the exact example of what I wanted personally from LP comeback, it’s familiar without sounding like a 2.0 version copy pasted of an old song, but on the other hand doesn’t sound like a different band (I am the one really disliking the Paramore vibes of UFTB and the Rihanna - like chorus of Stained). This one FEELS like LP channeling their old stuff in new directions like TEM and Overflow. Not a top tier track but pretty good, like a 7/10.

Get rid of Stained and throw in Let you fade -
I instantly thought of Wake, What we don’t know and NRL as soon as I heard the first 30 seconds of the song
-
Far better than the other 2 and Stained, I love Mike on this, the instrumental is very MTM. Don’t understand why it was not on the album. With Chester would have been ace.
-
Didn’t hear LYF but I find UFT pretty generic and uninteresting, and same for OEO. Stained is just plain bad, not for me at all. My issue is that I get that they wanted to feel familiar and don’t want to be nitpicky about that but I would want something that falls in the middle territory between “too familiar almost being a copy of old songs” and “blend of other styles and bands” (sorry to say it, but I keep hearing Paramore on some songs
-
How would you describe the song ?
-
That’s the main reason why I am not gonna see them on this tour, I am not feeling some of the Chester era songs sung by Emily, sadly, they sound “strange”.
-
I was crazy about new LP at first, but my hype toned down a lot in a few weeks. I do think Emily does the best she can but I am not engaged in the new stuff as I was before. Been months since the last time I played FZ front to back or a consistent number of tracks one after another and I don't like UFTB and Unshattered that much. The feeling I get from this new era is that it's a competent and well crafted rebuilding of LP but it lacks the soul I would have loved to feel and I am not talking about no Chester tribute, but the fact that everything feels pretty "empty"and devoided of soul and that is the same issue I had with most of Mike's solo material in the years following Chester's passing. I will always check out new LP and care about what they do and never thrash them, but my level of intetrest is normalized as if they were another band and not my fav of all time, sadly.
-
Better than UFB, it’s like if BIO and Inside of me by DBS had a baby, quite grungy and very raw. Would have put this one in place of Stained which I terrible

A futile existence: Let's talk about "Heavy"
Soeffingnaive92 replied to bloodbath's topic in Everything Linkin Park
Agree on the fact that the album serves as something to put them back on the map, in fact I am not thrashing it as I would if this was their, say, third post - Chester album. It's a solid 6.5 nearing a 7 to me -
I despise the use of AI to replicate Chester and dead people's voices but to be honest this one, despite having many flaws, is not THAT terrible compoared to other AI songs and the chorus is pretty strong. Two Faced to me got really old super quick
-
To me it sound more interesting than Two Faced as an attempt of recapturing nu metal. Scary what AI could be able to do in a few years
