So...

I don't collect shows but I think it would be nice to have some examples of how LP sounded on different points of it's existance...

Can you point me the best releases for the years of 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003?

2000: KROQ?

2001: Rock am Ring?

2002: ??

2003: ??

Thank you very much...

LoL, I meant pre-Live in Texas when they played Hit The Floor, Easier to run and stuff like that.

That doesn't change the fact that LIT is the best quality 2003 recording.

I think I'm going after KROQ 00, KROQ 01, Nottingham 03... Those are SBD and FM so good recordings... Are there any SBD or FM from 2002?

BTW, Nottingham show is only 47'... The setlist is not complete is it?

EDIT: OPS SORRY FOR THE DOUBLE POST!

I thought that was incomplete... I mean, LiT is 17 songs and 1:05 approx.

BTW... When browsering I could only find a 12-13 songs version of Nottingham.

Not counting DSPs or official releases such as LIT and trying to keep the list as short as possible, my votes go to:

2000 - Hollywood audio, Mason Jar video

2001 - Osaka audio, Rock am Ring or Palladium video

2002 - Not much choice here, so I'll pass

2003 - Tokyo (10/25) audio, MTV 2$ Bill show video

2004 - Mountain View audio, Rock am Ring video

2005 - Not much choice here, so I'll pass

2006 - Not much choice here, so I'll pass

2007 - Berlin audio, Wantagh video

2008 - Camden audio, Charlotte or Wantagh video

2009 - Graz audio, Stuttgart video

2010 - None yet!

Will second all of that. Tokyo 10/25...just epic. Shoutout to Palladium 01 too.

I still blame 10/25/03 for this whole mess...

I agree with Mark and Nick... and i'd add all available shows of 2006 from summer sonic, the quality is sick and the setlist is probably one of my 3-5 fav ever.

these are some other good recordings:

2001: Maida Vale Studios, London, England

2003: M.E.N. Arena, Manchester & KROQ X-Mas (audience)

2004: Cleveland, OH

2007: all japanese shows

2008: Camden

For 2000 and 2001, aren't the KROQ audios better (they are SBD recordings)??

Also, I think none of the 02/03 shows are SBDs...

Why the hell did they cut off HtF and EtR from Nottingham cast? ARGH, those are just what I want to hear.

Any good recordings of Hit the Floor?. I already have one of Easier to Run, HTF is all I need.

I'd go with either Paris 03, from the LPU tour, or Rapid City 03.

I prefer audience sourced recordings. In fact, none of the audio I've referenced are soundboard recordings, even if there happens to be a SBD or DSP from the show.

You can very well blame LPLive's creation and entire fucking existence on P5hng Me A*wy from 10/25/03

Why do I need flac when mp3 sounds just fine to me? </famous last words>

And why is that so?

Let's put it this way: If I put on headphones and listen to my audience recording from Camden 08, it's a direct recording of the full show experience. You can hear the little kid and his mom to my left talking at several points during the show (his commentary about not liking PMA just as it starts still makes me laugh). You can hear the imperfections during the show (static at the beginning of the show during the intro, Chester's wrecked note during SOTD) which were fixed in the DSP release. You can also hear just how loud the crowd was while singing on the bridge of ITE...

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't like the DSPs. I just appreciate how hard it is to produce a good audience sourced recording being a taper myself. Remember - up until PR07, there were more audience sources available than there were SBD sources.
