hahninator
"You know what I mean You could put a label on a life, Put a label on a lifestyle You know Put a label on how you wake up every morning And go to bed at night" What does that come from in High Voltage? I assume it's a sample of another song? Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/2691-high-voltage-sample/ Share on other sites
Astat
I have no idea where it comes from, but the full, unedited quote was used as an interlude at some LP shows in 2001. The version at the beginning of High Voltage is just a small, edited clip. Kruspe
Indeed, mostly at Papercut in 2001 Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/2691-high-voltage-sample/#findComment-41652 Share on other sites
Reanimate
I have researched this a few times in the past....And have came up with nothing. Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/2691-high-voltage-sample/#findComment-41668 Share on other sites

hahninator
Could possibly be from a movie like the Sanitarium 03 intro. LP uses some crazy samples sometimes (see: She Couldn't, etc) Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/2691-high-voltage-sample/#findComment-41678 Share on other sites
Astat
I think it was something they recorded themselves, actually. The unedited version has that line that goes something like, "A hybrid, that's what it's all about." The voice also sound very similar to Celph Titled when he's talking on the phone in Respect 4 Grandma, and we know Mike was friends with the SOB/Demigodz crew before Hybrid Theory came out, so I have to wonder if that's where it came from. hahninator
Messaged Celph on MySpace to see what he has to say about it. Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/2691-high-voltage-sample/#findComment-42146 Share on other sites

Cyro
Only on LPL, lol. This is definitely something to speculate. Hopefully we get a definitive answer in the future... I actually love this sample... It's second only to the "You cannot fuck with this band" thing they used to play as well, IMO. Great intro, i love the old shows with that verses... hey about the high voltage sample, im think is the voice of the father of mike, i know sounds crazy but if you listen kenji the voice is too similar... tell me crazy but i think that... That's because it's meant to sound like a radio transmission. All voices sound distorted in that case.
