The band has proven itself with anniversary releases, and I'd argue those are actually higher-quality releases than anything from LPU. The 20th HT boxset is something I want more in my collection than 10 more standalone LPU CDs (about the same cost), and the fact that it has demos that had never come out before it is a delight. 

 

If it's about the exclusivity, unfortunately that just doesn't exist anymore. Any band member can do live chats on a whim via tiktok, they do dozens more video interviews than in the 2000s, Mike has done more twitch streams than any marketing team could manage to do in 5 years through LPU

 

I gotta say that I also miss the LPU feeling the same way I miss something like watching cartoon network as a kid, but I recognize it just doesn't make sense anymore

 

I get what you're saying, but absolute exclusivity was never really a thing. As far back as I can remember, LPU releases were leaked online the same day they came out (I remember LPUX was released at an LPU Summit, and the same day was leaked on youtube). People still paid because they wanted to support it and felt it was worth being part of.

 

And it doesn't have to be a CD. A digital release with cool artwork and FLAC/WAV files would be great. If I remember correctly, Mike did something similar in 2023 through his own fan club, with Just Math and other demos from his Twitch sessions. And on the financial side, we're talking about recordings that already exist. There's still some work involved in putting a release together, sure, but a digital package doesn't need manufacturing, packaging or shipping.

 

For me, the value isn't knowing nobody else can hear it without paying. It's getting something I actually care about from a band I love. Call me crazy, I'd be much more interested in paying for that than an eye mask and a pen, even knowing the demos, unreleased footage, deep-dives or whatever content would end up online.

Whilst progress has been slower than what we realistically would need to make a real impact, I’m super happy we’re nearing triple digits.

 

For me, the momentum is climbing - not diminishing. The further we move along, the more I want this to be a success. I want to be putting more time and effort into this so we can bring the greatness of the LPU back to the community.

 

I’m thinking of what we could do to give this a really big push in the right direction, to start multiplying the amounts of signatures and ultimately get the attention of the band, staff, fansites, and followers.

 

I’m going to propose here putting together a small team in the near future. The idea would be initially a Teams call to brainstorm ideas, come up with some clever ideas on how to push this to the farthest reaches, and close any gaps/missed opportunities within the campaign itself. Following that, we assign roles/areas of focus and revisit a short while later to check in on progress and refine. I’m also interested in documenting everything, perhaps recording the meetings and keeping a log of activity - not for scrutiny, but in the small chance we’re successful. It’ll be nice to show how it worked. 

 

If you are interested and can commit, reach out in whatever way is most comfortable for you. We will push aside any differences and historic grievances (yes, I’ve had many run-ins with people on here in the past) - all I ask is that you only consider joining the team if you are 100% certain you can commit to it.

Would be cool to like have a coversation over whatsapp with someone in charge (and I don't mean Lorenzo or Adam..) to actually talk this through if it's something doable or "not a fuckin chance"

SO ITS EVEN WORSE, you have nothing when joining lpu and need to have 2 year streak before you earn priority presale access ha! Basically they added 3rd level..

1. LPU Legacy: Members who purchased or held an active Passport Plus membership on or before August 24, 2024. Legacy status is permanent as long as your membership remains valid and cannot be earned or purchased.

2. LPU Priority: Active Passport Plus members who have completed two (2) years of consecutive membership (NEW).

3. LPU Passport Plus: All active members who joined or renewed starting September 5, 2024.

I'll disagree with labeling the countdown/-up as a negative example, tbh. There were some clues before and during it, and the count-up in itself hinted at the album title.

The countdown itself was great. Even the counting up thing was fine as a small Trollnoda thing. But they should've stopped it at the album release date (05:09), because it was close enough to the finish of the original countdown. Instead, it went up without any new information (after generating ENORMOUS buzz during its countdown) and the whole thing fizzled out. And wasn't it even discarded at some point because no one cared anymore or more info about the comeback came out from publications anyway? I can't recall it going back up to 100.

Whatever, the whole thing became deflating and should've been handled differently. First half amazing, second half total blunder.

Ah, thanks for clearing this up. But all the buzz about the countdown (or rather countup :D) was gone, because word about all of this got out rather soonish after it started to go up. Either way, the interest levels were not comparable at all once the countdown started to count up for about a day or so.

Went to Newswire yesterday and saw there was a thread for LPU and then this too - this one isn't really news, post about it in that thread or link to it. Nothing personal. Dropped thoughts into that thread on the new LPU and ways to improve it.

Well in fairness the fact that Emily was known by quite a few people for weeks before the launch and fans kept it quiet was a significant feat in itself. And Emily then went on and posted the photo in Ethan's studio during this countdown, so, the cat was out of the bag on her end regardless lol. It all was coming out. By the time I landed in LA for the launch show, a snippet of the song was already out. And the night before my flight, the song title was out. I went to bed with huge anxiety/anticipation like, "what is... Emptiness Machine? what a weird title" lol. The idea was fun / funny for the countdown to go up. It worked.

What can we do to get you guys to share the petition on socials? I feel the campaign in itself is still respectful to the band, and shows them love and appreciation whilst still maintaining a fair point of desiring what we once had that made the LPU special.

 

Honestly, with your exposure it could really help us get so much closer to actual positive change.

Just saw this thread, did a signature. Including my message in here because somehow signing it made me feel like I'm ungrateful for what they do haha.

I love that my favorite band is back. But I will say I really never visit the LPU anymore unless I have to re-new. I love the ticket and early access, I will ALWAYS be grateful for that. Thank You Linkin Park and team. But it would be cool for maybe an unreleased demo (I know these things aren't infinite so I don't expect an EP like the old days.), maybe the some of the band members contribute to a blog just to check in(I always liked Mikes), maybe some LPUTV of footage that didn't make LPTV. 

I thought those would be some fun ideas.
