RogueSoul Posted Thursday at 09:51 PM Posted Thursday at 09:51 PM This new era of Linkin Park is all about worlds colliding - and football (dare I say, soccer) fans, your time has come! Linkin Park will be the featured opening musical act for the UEFA Champions League Final on May 31, 2025 at the Allianz Arena in München, Germany for what may very well be the most viewed performance of the band's entire career! -WATCH THE SHOW HERE, WITH A COUNTDOWN/TIMER- The pedestal has been raised incredibly high for this show as the band's performance at the event will be televised on local television as well as streamed on YouTube; the Champions League garners an average 400-450 million concurrent viewers every year across the entire globe. If even a small fraction of that number are there to watch and listen to the Kickoff Show, it would still probably be the biggest audience the band has ever had for a live performance. Last year, Lenny Kravitz brought a nostalgic performance to the event while in 2023, Alesso, Burna Boy, and Anitta brought the night off to an electrifying start. Linkin Park is quite a different act than these former performers, but perhaps that energy will be exactly what the Champions League needs to start off right! It seems that the band will be playing for about 8 minutes and will be running through 6 songs, according to a transcript of a recent interview. It's a no brainer that the band will likely be sticking to the biggest hits for this one - its been said from the start that 'Numb' will be receiving some kind of remix or intro incorporating the sounds of the sport into the mix, perhaps a clip of which is used in the trailer above. We're genuinely not quite sure what else the band will whip out, but songs like their recent hit 'The Emptiness Machine' and older classics like 'In The End' will definitely be in the mix too. Anthems like 'BURN IT DOWN', 'New Divide', and 'What I've Done' can't be ruled out either. With six songs in a relatively short length, it looks like the band will either be performing shortened versions of these tracks (like they have done throughout the past few album tours) or perhaps blending them into a medley. Whatever happens, this is bound to be a unique and incredible performance, and us fans will be watching proudly and excitedly as the rest of world gets to hear what this band has unleashed back upon the world. This performance will definitely set the stage for an epic football game right after! This will be the band's sixth show ever in Munich, and first since The Hunting Party visited Olympiahalle in November 2014. Back-to-back Projekt Revolution shows preceded that in 2011 and 2008 as their first major headline shows in the city. In 2001, the band played the Colosseum with Deftones and then headlined Zenith in September on the Hybrid Theory Tour. A beautiful, scenic city, Linkin Park does not visit Munich too often but we hope they will find their way back to headline it again. It was notably one of the big German cities that did not get a stadium show this summer, undoubtedly due to the band performing at the UEFA Champions League Final. If you're looking for a good Munich show to listen to while waiting for this show, check out Munich 2011 that was a rare show that featured both A Thousand Suns rarities 'Burning In The Skies' and 'Blackout' as well as a rare 'Reading My Eyes' verse on 'Bleed It Out' by Mike. The entire 2011 summer tour is really good, but you could call this one of the standout shows of that run! Who'll be tuning in? The Champions League will be on live TV and across streaming services across the globe, so be sure to look up what your best options are to watch the event where you are - likely the YouTube link above. This show marks the mid-way point between the band's previous leg of the tour and the next leg in Europe, which kicks off on June 12 at the Nova Rock Festival in Austria followed by the Rock For People festival in Czechia on June 14. The band has massive stadium shows set for June and July as well as multiple headlining festival appearances across the continent, including a sold-out show at London's Wembley Stadium. It's about to be an awesome summer to be a Linkin Park fan, and this is just the next step! Linkin Park appears to be staying in Europe between this show and Nova Rock, perhaps for some rehearsing as well as some well-deserved vacation time. We'll have you covered on everything the band does at this show and everything they whip out for the rest of the year, so be sure to sign up on the forums and follow us on social media (Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook)! See you soon! And let us know your guesses for what you think the band will play in Munich! Quote
bloodbath Posted Friday at 12:36 AM Posted Friday at 12:36 AM Shit, I'm gonna miss this one. But I wanted them to play a big medley in the vein of that ill-fated 2014 DJ set. Anyway, I'm hoping for unique variations of the familiar hits so it's gonna be pretty interesting Quote
wenom1000 Posted Friday at 01:16 AM Posted Friday at 01:16 AM Do we have info at what time(EU time) they will start and where will be possible to watch? Quote
LPLStaff Posted Friday at 01:25 AM Posted Friday at 01:25 AM Streamed here and you can set a reminder for it: https://www.youtube.com/live/4GK6dB3xIQ4?si=wtxTP3gEyDHyytQk Taking In The End, Numb, New Divide, BURN IT DOWN, The Emptiness Machine, and What I've Done. They will undoubtedly surprise us with some sort of medley or mashup of something. Coldplay's Super Bowl performance is an example I am thinking of, where they hit Clocks, Fix You, and Up & Up in a mashup at the very end of their performance - and it was epic. Love Munich - saw Mike's tour there (it snowed!) and hope to see LP play there again someday. Quote
Cesar656 Posted Friday at 07:39 AM Posted Friday at 07:39 AM Numb, In The End, Heavy is the crown, Burn it Down and Faint will most likely be there. LP playing the 2nd biggest sport event in the world after the football world cup is crazy Quote

It's 7th but all the 6 above aren't single day events. For example the tour de france is a 3 weeks event so the viewership is cumulative. There's no chance that more people watch a single stage of tour de france than the champions league final. Quote
silverwing Posted Friday at 12:10 PM Posted Friday at 12:10 PM Didn't their Live 8 concert had millions of watchers too? But i guess it was around 30 million or something like that Quote

But in 2005 with events going on globally all at the same time, especially with London having a once-in-a-lifetime lineup with U2, Pink Floyd, Coldplay, etc... no idea how many watched LP in Philly online but probably well under a million. This should be, in our opinion, their most-watched event ever. Only 3m+ watching at once should easily set that. With a 400m+ estimated viewership of the game itself, it seems like a slam dunk they'll get at least a few million eyes on this performance. Quote
Igussek Posted Friday at 01:56 PM Posted Friday at 01:56 PM Cant wait for the match 😁 (and for LP too 🙃) Quote
NimaLP Posted Friday at 02:34 PM Posted Friday at 02:34 PM Not a fan of either Inter or PSG, but I'm rooting for Inter. This is gonna be one of the most important and historic performances of the band, so hopefully they crush it. Quote

Luki98 Posted Friday at 10:28 PM Posted Friday at 10:28 PM (edited) It's great that they'll play in front of so many people at the stadium, and even more will watch it on TV and online. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Inter. They're my favorite Italian club. Edited Friday at 10:28 PM by Luki98 Quote
