Before heading home for what will be their longest break all year, Linkin Park return to Jakarta, Indonesia for the final show of the Asian Leg of the From Zero World Tour on February 16, 2025 at the Stadion Madya Gelora Bung Karno.

 

 

It has been quite some time since Linkin Park has last graced the stage in Indonesia! This will only be the band's third show in the country ever, the last being on 2011's A Thousand Suns World Tour. Their show in Jakarta in 2011 was the third-to-last show of the whole world tour behind Bangkok and Singapore, and featured a wide array of tracks across the band's discography at the time. New tracks from A Thousand Suns like 'When They Come For Me' and 'Blackout' graced the city, while tracks like 'No More Sorrow' and 'Shadow Of The Day' also got some time to shine after the country had been skipped on the Minutes To Midnight Tour. The band's first visit there dates all the way back to the summer of 2004, the first Asian date on the Meteora International Tour. The band appeared in the country despite travel warnings from the United States government, which led to cancellations in the country from the likes of Missy Elliot, Limp Bizkit, and Garreth Gates that summer. The band still performed the show, however, as the country stood as one of their biggest markets in Asia at the time. Out of concern for their female fans, Chester stated that the show would start early at 4:00pm so everyone could get home in the safety of light. Despite the controversy, Linkin Park delivered a massive first show in the country, churning through Meteora-era hits like the Hip-Hip Medley consisting of 'Step Up,' 'Nobody's Listening,' and 'It's Goin' Down.' The legendary Nine Inch Nails cover - 'Wish' - also graced Indonesia's ears during the encore. With a lot of catching up to do since 2011, the band's third show in the country will surely be another one to remember!

There's a lot of singing to be done at this show, too! Another cool note about this performance - Brad plays the guitar harmonics from 'Pushing Me Away' during the second half of the second verse, if you listen closely!

 

The Asian Leg of this tour has been an eventful one, if not a short one! The band played two nights back-to-back at Saitama, Japan's Saitama Super Arena, and threw in a bunch of variations to spice things up between shows! The band celebrated Mike and Phoenix's birthdays on the first night, blowing out candles on a cake onstage before 'Casualty.' Set A4 made a return, featuring 'Casualty' and 'A Place For My Head' as the rotation songs and 'Castle Of Glass' in its interludes. The band has been matching their last song on their pre-show playlist before they walk onstage with the country this year, with Vicente Fernandez's 'El Rey' in Mexico, the Pokémon Theme Song on Saitama night one, and 'Monster Zero March' from the original Godzilla soundtrack on Saitama night two. Another note is that Mike accidentally sang the demo lyrics to 'Cut The Bridge' during the extended bridge of 'Bleed It Out' at this show, too. Saitama night two followed suit with an extra rotation slot: 'Crawling' rotated with 'Points Of Authority,' making it the first show to not feature 'Crawling' and the first appearance in 2025 for 'Points.' This modified version of Set B4 (listed as V5 on the paper set) featured this along with 'Keys To The Kingdom' and 'Lying From You' as rotations, as well as 'Burn It Down' during the interludes. The performance of 'Keys' marked the first performance of any material from The Hunting Party had been played on Japanese soil - this statistic is even crazier with Indonesia, as no music since Living Things has been performed in the country. This'll be the first time Indonesia's had the chance to singalong to numbers like 'Castle Of Glass' and 'Burn It Down,' and we can hope for a surprise appearance from more tracks from The Hunting Party and One More Light too to pop up. Jakarta is lined up for Set C4, featuring 'Given Up' and 'From The Inside,' the latter of which is fresh off the press with the band's new lineup, having debuted in Monterrey, Mexico earlier this month.

Who's heading to the show? If you're in Jakarta this weekend, be on the lookout for a Linkin Park-themed Tahu bulat truck going around the city and grab a bite before the show! It's monsoon season in Indonesia, so it's no surprise that Weatherman Rogue sees thunderstorms and rain in the forecast for Sunday, and it'll be hot and humid to boot. So be sure to stay dry and light and get ready to jam with the band! Not sure if there's an opening band or not yet, but I'll update the post with information as it comes.

 

After this show, the band takes the rest of the month, March, and most of April off before launching into the busy part of the year, kicking things back up on April 26 in Austin, Texas for the first leg of the United States tour. With the cancellation of the Sick New World festival in mid-April, there's nothing on the live schedule until the end of April, so the band may have some extra time to prepare some new surprises! To be honest, this is quite the Saudi Arabia show, a "bonus" show where I don't expect anything really interesting but looking forward to the next tour length

Holy cow they haven’t been to Indonesia since 2011? That’s a crazy statistic, I think the band might play it safe with this one, but then again you never know. I think we’ll get more changes to the set in April however. One thing I hope stays in April is the hybrid version of Lost, I need to see that live!

It doesn't seem likely that it will pop up but this is a good opportunity to squeeze Lost in the Echo in on the tour leg.

By the end of 2025 with all of these shows they have booked, they will sound much better than 2024. And it isn't like 2024 even sounded bad, it's a great comeback. They will just get that much better with experience playing together and working on the songs.

 

Overflow already is a monster song live. Excited to see what happens with the sets this year.

Half the band is new, including lead vocals and lead guitar. We are lucky to get so many 25+ song shows already and if this is what they are starting with, the shows later this year are going to be much more refined.

One thing I have been enjoying is actually Dave's playing. He is just doing more improvising, throwing in licks here and there. He didn't used to as much with the old band. You can tell that he is a real bass-player and not just a guitarist playing bass. It's not often you really get to hear that in LP (other than his solid technique), so it's really cool.

I haven't caught it in the shows yet but I really enjoyed that little lick at 1:31 in Stained, idk if it's even him but that kind of bass is so rare in LP's discography it immediately jumped out at me:
