Over on Instagram, Mike shared a new Xero live photo from 1998. He did title the year correctly, as this is from June 24, 1998. This Xero show was at Backside Records in Burbank, California and is the third photo of the show to surface; ironically the first mention of the show was by Mike himself in 2020.

Here is the new photo Mike shared:

There are two other photos from this show, which show the rest of the band lineup after Mike and Brad, with Dave behind Mike:

In these photos, we get good shots of Mark Wakefield, Rob, Dave, and Joe. This would have been before Dave left Xero, which happened AFTER Chester joined the band. This is detailed on our Hybrid Theory EP page. Chester auditioned for the band in March 1999, with Dave departing sometime in mid-1999 - the date is not really known.

Here is the first full-band photo they took together with Chester:

As of 2024, these three photos are the only circulating photos of Xero in existence. A fun fact is the photo on the first Xero cassette demo (Fuse, Dialate, Stick and Move, and Reading My Eyes) is of the pre-Xero band Relative Degree (featuring Mark Wakefield, Dave Garrett, Brad Delson and Rob Bourdon) with a close-up photo of Mike Shinoda xeroxed in, as Mike was not in Relative Degree. Below you can see the first Xero demo tape, with the original photo of Relative Degree performing below it.

Thanks Mike for sharing this new photo!

I wonder if Mike has more photos from this show and other shows.

I wouldn't have recognized Dave if I wasn't told it was him ^^

If Dave left the band after Chester joined, then Kyle's story about them joining around the same time is incorrect?

That time period is SO murky. But there the photo of Dave with Chester, the first photo they took, and Dave talks about Chester's audition, etc. He was with them then. He also was playing live with Snax AT THAT EXACT TIME, as there is the photo of him on stage with Snax in March 1999. But Snax mostly played local shows and Xero wasn't doing any shows around then, so that checks out.

It could be any logical explanation around this - Chester joins and Dave is there, then Dave steps out quickly and Kyle jumps in. It'd be cool to talk to Dave about this one day. Wouldn't really say Kyle is wrong, it probably was around the same time if he's saying that. Jeff Blue would likely have this documented somewhere on an exact date, honestly. He took detailed notes during this entire time period, so he'd know.

He has video with LPLive staff on his instagram account, I wonder why there is such silence around this meeting. Nothing in the newswire at all.

Ele tem um vídeo com a equipe da LPLive em sua conta do instagram, eu me pergunto por que há tanto silêncio em torno desta reunião. Nada no noticiário.

I also don't know why there isn't a post talking about this visit to Jeff Blue's house

There isn't anything to report from it - it's a situation where we are slowly building a relationship over time. There isn't anything to report on (yet), or release (legal restrictions). When/if there is something to report with that we will definitely post about it.

A podcast with a verbal description of unreleased songs would be great, if he played any for you. I hope something will appear in future.

We can likely/possibly do that down the road. There isn't enough of that type of information or material to do that on currently but we'd love to do it eventually.

Fuck it, I ask: Is there an "And One" studio version of what they used to play live in 2000/2001? Like for real. Blink once for yes.

Not that we know of, no. There is a list of about 1 million questions we have of old demos, and that is on the list. To date, we have not found anything that confirms that version of the song to ever have been recorded in the studio. If that changes, we will let you know.
