Today a very interesting podcast containing a conversation of Mike and Emily was shared on liveone.com. The description of it says:

They talk about how they could have released way more songs on From Zero but chose to narrow it down to just 10. I'm so excited. They definitely have more music in store. They also name a few demos that are are not on the final tracklist.

 

The way Emily talks about Dead Sara makes me think that band is over

Dead Sara was a great band but nothing wont change for them.

 

Best thing they could do is not wait for Emily and find another vocalist.

I think dead sara can have a brighter future with the massive new exposure they got because of Emily. But yeah I mean time wise they are kinda screwed because now they have to depend on Emily being available. It's not impossible, she could do what Chester did when he was both in LP and STP, but that's almost no life and that's the reason Chester quit STP because he couldn't spend time with his family. On september 5th Dead Sara posted on social media that they would be back in the future but the way Emily talked about Dead Sara in the podcast gave me the impression that she is not looking back at dead sara. Let's see

Also Emily is not that young i dont think that she will *waste* his goldeb era of vocals w Dead Sara.

 

She will make history with LP cant wait for LP9 it will be more experimental.

It definitely felt like, and she said it like „ok I pushed really hard for that last album and it went nowhere“. It really sounded like she wanted to do something else besides Dead Sara anyway.

in any situation in life its sad when try so hard to make something nice and then it fails.

 

she is so done w Dead Sara plus they got no fans and theu wont come back for the few fans that they just obtained.

They might play a show here and there just for fun but it sounded like an unspoken truth as well for everyone of them. Like they realised that it didn’t work out the last what 15 years and it didn’t with their newest music. It’s great music but they stagnated to a point that it was frustrating for her. She even said something like this.

I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of them doing something in the future, but LP just by its very nature is her main project now. They’re a global brand and will take most of her time. When she is home and LP has a break, that’s her time to relax and be with family.

 

Dead Sara will definitely be a side project to work on whenever there’s an extended break from LP rather than another band that she splits her time with equally. That’s why there was only one FM album and one DBS album.

 

She said the other members of the band were supportive, which is nice.

So, it seems like the sessions with Emily and Colin had been going on for quite a while already and solidified as a 5 units, before Brad warmed up to it and joined.

 

By extension, it seems that Brad, for a while, was in that weird position of "Alright, the 3 guys are in, Rob is out. What do I do ?". Must have been  a challenging situation to be in.

 

And I am so glad he eventually joined!

About Dead Sara, they are a good band and it’s Emily’s love project but it must be frustrating to NEVER make the big step. If you join one of the biggest bands of the last 25 years with billions on streams/views and 100M copies sold it’s natural to kind of put aside a project that never took off. Like, on Spotify “Weatherman”, Dead Sara’s most popular song, has like 12 M streams, which is less than Until it breaks…
