RogueSoul
Unfortunately, due to the leg injury that Chester yesterday in Indianapolis, the upcoming shows on The Hunting Party Tour in Pittsburgh and Albany have been cancelled. The official statement from the band: Linkin Park regret to inform their fans that they must withdraw from their next two shows in Pittsburgh on January 20th, and January 21 in Albany, NY, due to a leg injury of lead vocalist Chester Bennington - who has been diagnosed as requiring immediate medical attention. Chester says, "I need to take the proper time to assess the severity of my injury and apologize for any disappointment this has caused. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Fans can seek refunds at point of purchase. While disappointment is inevitable, we all wish Chester a speedy recovery and hope everything works out alright so that more shows are not cancelled. 1/20 EDIT: The rest of the tour has been canceled. Chester is having surgery on his broken ankle and will not be able to perform for six weeks. LOS ANGELES, CA (January 20, 2015) Linkin Park regret to inform their fans they must cancel the remaining dates of The Hunting Party tour through February 14th, due to a leg injury of lead vocalist Chester Bennington. The injury requires immediate medical attention making it physically impossible for Bennington to perform. Chester says, I'm really disappointed this injury has made it impossible to continue with this tour. The first couple of shows were just magical. We will truly miss not being with our fans for the next few weeks. Hope to see you again soon." Fans can seek refunds at point of purchase. Sorry everyone. Tyleronlplive
NOOOOOOO! THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING What does this mean about OM&M and Rise Against? hahninator
The whole show is canceled. LP is the headlining band. Those bands might elect to move to a smaller venue and do their own shows, or partner up for a show. I bet that is something they were already working on before LP officially announced the cancellations. They'd tell the openers before the general public, for sure. I did think they'd cancel shows this tour but I thought it would be because Chester got sick. Didn't think it would be a legit injury. I am now interested in what canceling two shows will do. I know nothing about broken bones, but what is the difference in playing Albany or Atlantic City two days later? I bet this is so he can get back to LA and get it properly examined to determine if he can continue the tour or if he has to have surgery (or just heal) and cancel the rest of the tour. Hopefully it gets made up if that happens. Numbrocker
No word from OMandM and RA. Everything I'm reading online says an ankle injury is pretty serious. Obviously just googling stuff, but from what I've read I'm surprised most of the tour hasn't been cancelled yet. At the very least through next week. I wonder if they're waiting to see how Chester feels. But I'd rather them cancel and let him heal up properly. He's getting older and he doesn't need to risk injuring himself more for just one tour. We know they'll hit the US again. abrandnewname
As much as this really sucks to hear, and Chester needs to do what's right to recover. I wasn't able to go to the Pittsburgh show due to last minute circumstances, so I'm kinda happy in that aspect. I do hope Chester has a great recovery, and hopefully we get some rescheduled shows! Numbrocker
In case people were wondering how the cancellation works, Ticketmaster will automatically refund the card you paid on, once they receive confirmation from the band that the show has been cancelled. Not sure about other 3party sources. Astat
I really doubt the whole tour's in jeopardy, he probably just needs to go in and have the bone properly set. Once that's done, he can probably be back on the road in a matter of a couple days. As long as he's smart and keeps weight off the leg (performing in a wheelchair for the rest of the tour would be a good idea - Layne Staley style FTW), there shouldn't be anything that keeps him from doing most of the rest of the shows. Unless his leg injury is WAY worse than it appeared and needs significant surgery, I'd be surprised if he isn't back by Brooklyn at the latest. hahninator
That has to be absolutely miserable to be the lead singer of a rock band and you can't jam during the show. Chester is easily the most active person on stage in the band and moves around a lot on literally every single song. That'd be torture to play 15 more shows, attend an LPU Summit, and travel across two countries while in a wheelchair and/or on crutches. Geeze. When Mike posted a picture I didn't really see anything wrong with his leg. I guess I'm just worried that they took until tonight to mention it, so I'm not sure if he hurt it worse or if it hurt worse or what. Never broke anything so I don't really have an idea about what Chester is capable of. I assume if he sees a doctor today/tomorrow that we'll know either tomorrow night or Wed afternoon. Geki
I'm really fucking let down. I'm not gonna jump on the ''Feel better Chester'' bandwagon because I actually had tickets to the Albany show. It's funny because the only people that I see saying that shit are the people who weren't going to either of these shows in the first place. Funny how Chester played last night in Indy with the same injury but now he can't play these shows. Seems a little suspect to me because I know someone who broke their ankle in 3 places a month ago and they are out of work for months and can barely move, yet Chester just had a walking cast on last night and was able to perform the whole show. Hmm. I can almost guarantee that they will cancel more shows and maybe even the whole tour. Apparently a broken foot means that a singer who uses their voice can't sing. I see a LOT of angry Rise Against fans online right now saying the same thing that I am saying. Rise Against is from the punk rock world, though, unlike LP, so Rise Against's fans are used to people in punk bands playing no matter what happens, usually, especially broken bones and shit. I have tickets to Providence and Manchester but I bet those will most definitely be cancelled as well. Probably less than 24 hours before the show or something ultra lame like that, too. I have a TINY sliver of hope that they will play Manchester since it's so far away, but I doubt it, honestly. This just sucks because I was really looking forward to seeing LP on this tour. I had pit tickets for all of these shows and on Carnivores I only had a pit ticket for 1 of the 4 shows that I went to. I also love Of Mice & Men and it sucks that I most likely won't be able to see them play with my favorite band. Well, I guess I should look at it this way, at least Chester can go home and write some sub-par music with STP now. Fuck LP, right? Numbrocker
Its not like Chester sat down and said "hmm let me injury myself so much that I need to seek "immediate medical attention" just to piss off my fans. You don't know how serious his injury is. A real fan would want him to heal up and not risk hurting himself more. It's not like LP isn't going to tour the US again. They'll probably be back THIS YEAR. Also I'm FLYING in from Texas. You have no idea what I had to do to be prepared for this trip, from the logistics of getting there to asking off work. And I'd STILL rather them cancel the whole tour then see Chester grit his teeth through the pain and perform or potentially injury himself more. You can be upset but really don't a jerk about it. Really the "bandwagon" is just real fans who understand that one tour isn't the be all end all. And I'm stoked for STP. I'll say it, their show ranked way higher than a lot of LP shows I've been too. LP music is better, but all the STP guys seem to enjoy the show more. LP music is better, but all the STP guys seem to enjoy the show more. I honestly really don't care about your opinion or anyone else's, for that matter. I don't even care about Chester's opinion on it. It fucking SUCKS to have LP cancel on you right before the concert. No matter how you look at it, it fucking sucks. Ask anyone that has had LP cancel on them last minute because it's happened to be multiple times now before this and I know other people who have had it happen to them and they have similar reactions to it. Obviously, I hope that he heals, but I'm not going to act like I don't care about the cancellation when I do care about it, very much so. It's easy for people to say when they don't have tickets to the tour or already saw them at one of the 3 dates so far that it's not a big deal. And really, you don't think I am a real fan of Chester? Ask literally anybody that knows me, in real life or online, if I a fan of Chester and see what people tell you. That's just rich. If I'm not a real LP fan, then how come I have been to 19 LP shows, attended multiple summits, attended a lot of meet and greets, have ''Linkin Park'' tatooed on my skin, etc.? If I'm not considered to be a ''real LP fan'' on this website then I guess I shouldn't be posting on this website and maybe consider posting someplace like LPU only. Because that's just downright absurd to me. Also, I don't agree with your STP comment at all. It doesn't even make any sense. Of course the STP guys are happy to be playing with Chester. They're washed up and the only songs by them that get radio play are shit from like 1994. LOL. Chester is like a God send to them. You can't compared the people in STP being ''happier'' than the guys in LP because that makes literally no sense. You don't know how the guys in LP feel and it's stupid to even compare the two anyways, especially since Chester doesn't even do that. I know that you seem to be obsessed with STP and you have been putting down LP ever since Chester has joined STP. Yes, obviously he has fun with STP, but I thought LP was his true love? That's what he said in an interview with STP, so I just naturally assumed. I guess he is lying, then. Justin
Didn't he break his leg IN Indy before the show? I realize he played with a cast and the scooter thing, but if he got it checked out after that show and was advised to not travel or play any shows by a medical professional, then I don't see how he can be blamed for this. It really does suck any way you look at it, and I know I didn't have tickets so I can't know how it feels to be let down like this, but it's more the situation itself that sucks. It doesn't show a lack of dedication from Chester or anything by not playing. Yes, Rise Against is from the "punk-rock" world, but I'm pretty sure if they had a broken bone and were told to stay off it, they would follow doctor's orders. I'm sorry that I am a little pissed off that my show was cancelled 2 days before it took place. I actually wouldn't even be that mad if they just announced that Providence and the rest of the tour is cancelled NOW instead of later. Because I know that the announcement is coming for that. Astat is probably right. He is probably flying back to Arizona where he lives and the doctor is going to tell him that he should call off the tour and he is probably going to do just that. I don't think Chester would rock out from a wheelchair like other rock stars and people in the punk rock world would. That would be awesome because it would mean that the 600 dollars that we spent on this tour wouldn't be wasted but I don't have high fucking hopes as far as that's concerned. RogueSoul
You have all the right to be pissed, but giving someone the middle finger for breaking their fucking bones (and, with the way you seem to think of it, apparently ON PURPOSE?) to your dissatisfaction is where you're wrong. On purpose? WTF? When did I say that? I've been saying that I obviously hope that he heals and shit but the fact that it severely sucks to have your show cancelled on you was my main point. It's not just to my satisfaction, either. I feel bad for the people who get their show cancelled anywhere because I know the feeling and it hurts when you are really a big fan and it happens to you. The thing that sucks the most is the fact that I KNOW Providence and Manchester will be cancelled, as well as the rest of the tour, too. If he really was just cancelling these two shows I could definitely accept it, honestly. The thing that is bothering me is the fact that I am inevitably waiting for them to cancel the rest of the shows at this point. It's hard to say he should continue traveling the country and performing every night. As far as the STP thing, I'm not sure how that became part of the discussion. It's like you think Chester is going to see this as an opportunity to ditch Linkin Park for STP. I just don't see him as that kind of guy. It sucks he got hurt, and I understand being pissed as well as disappointed because of the show you won't see, as well as the expenses lost...but I just hope he comes back soon, 100% healthy.
