RogueSoul
The Hunting Party European Tour is on it's final stretch - but Linkin Park are taking it out with a bang! Linkin Park and Of Mice & Men are performing in Manchester, England on November 22, 2014, at the Phones 4u Arena - the largest indoor arena in the UK, with a capacity of 21,000 people! This will be Linkin Park's eighth show in Manchester, their first dating all the way back to March 2001, where they performed on the Deftones' Back To School Tour, at Manchester Apollo. The band performed almost all of Hybrid Theory, barring 'Cure For The Itch' and 'Pushing Me Away' (the latter of which was dropped at the show in favor of 'Crawling', which was recently released as a single). The tour brought them back to Manchester for the final show, where the band changed up the setlist, opening with the combo of 'A Place For My Head' and 'Forgotten', and performed the Mike Shinoda Remix of 'High Voltage'. Mike and Chester came up during the Deftones' set and screwed around during 'Headup'! The band returned later that year in September on their first European Headline tour, performing a great setlist opening with a new show intro for 'With You'. Pre-Hybrid Theory era songs like 'And One' and the Mike Shinoda Remix of 'High Voltage' were performed, as well as 'My December' being played for the first time since KROQ 2000 to open up the encore. The band didn't return until 2003, on the very first tour of the Meteora touring cycle: the LP Underground Tour. Then-new tracks from Meteora such as 'Don't Stay', 'Lying From You', and 'Easier To Run' were performed for the first time in Manchester. The band returned in November 2003 for their UK Tour, performing one of the coolest sets they've ever played: opening with 'Papercut' and 'Points Of Authority', sandwhiching songs like 'It's Goin' Down', 'Nobody's Listening' (with an extended outro featuring 'Standing In The Middle'), and 'Breaking The Habit' in between the encore, and an EPIC ending of 'My December', 'P5hng Me A*wy', 'A Place For My Head', and 'One Step Closer'. The band didn't return until halfway through the Minutes To Midnight touring cycle, in January 2008. MTM songs like 'Valentine's Day', 'In Between', and 'In Pieces' saw their first performances in the city, as well as 'A Place For My Head' returning to the setlists on the tour. A bunch of funny moments happened at this show: Mike was rapping 'It's Goin' Down' over the extended intro of 'Points Of Authority', but the fans were screaming 'Petrified', messing him up, saying "Yo, you guys fucked me up right here!" and laughed it off. A fan threw a glowstick at the box in front of Brad during the guitar intro of 'A Place For My Head', causing him to stop and stare the fan down as the crowd laughed. The band's most recent performance in Manchester was in 2010, on the A Thousand Suns European Tour. 'Wretches and Kings', 'When They Come For Me', 'The Catalyst', and all the other A Thousand Suns songs that were performed saw their debuts in England. Mike rapped the first verse of 'A Place For My Head' over the bridge of 'Bleed It Out'. Check out this video of the band performing 'My December' and 'Breaking The Habit' from Manchester 2008 - a very intimate moment of the show! At the previous show in Bremen, Germany (the last of 9 shows the band played on the tour in Germany), Linkin Park fans everywhere rejoiced. Mike FINALLY changed up his medley, rapping the first verse of 'High Voltage' over it for the first time by the request of LPLive member lampshade. This was the first time since 2009, in Stuttgart, Germany that 'High Voltage' was performed in any form (in Stuttgart, it was mashed up with 'Bloc Party' and performed over the extended intro of Points Of Authority'). Funny enough, 'High Voltage' was the number one most-voted choice on our Mike Solo Medley poll, alongside 'Petrified'. Has Mike been lurking LPLive recently? LPU XIV also debuted the day of the show, giving fans great treats - an LPU CD featuring a bunch of interesting demos (including a "cookie", as the band would call it), exclusive merchandise, and more. Lastly, Joe said at the Meet & Greet that the soundtrack for MALL, his movie, would be released in December! The band performed Set B at this show, meaning Set A will likely be performed in Manchester. Check out the video of Mike rapping the first verse of 'High Voltage' over his medley. What other songs would you like to see over the medley? Of Mice & Men have been KILLING it on this tour, performing an energy packed set opening up with 'Public Service Announcement'. A bunch of other songs from their new album, Restoring Force, were also performed such as 'Bones Exposed', 'Would You Still Be There', and 'Feels Like Forever' were performed. Deeper album cuts from the album, including 'Identity Disorder' and 'Another You' were also included, before the band closed with 'The Depths' from The Flood, and 'You're Not Alone'. Austin Carlile, the band's lead singer, has been joining the band for 'Faint' on certain stops throughout the tour - would you like to see it happen? The band will be joining the band again on their 2015 North American Tour. Who's going? After this show, the band has two shows lined up at the O2 Arena in London to close out the tour. An old rumor said that Tom Morello would be joining the band at these two dates - whether or not that's true is a mystery. After those two dates, the band will perform two holiday shows in California in December, before they embark on a North American Tour in January with Of Mice & Men and Rise Against. Mesck547
Nice pre-show post, just a small correction: High Voltage is leading the poll alongside Dedicated, not Petrified. HybridSoldier.LP
Mike could release the rap All For Nothing during the medley , since new year music are coming... LeonardoMF93
Does anybody here really expect that Tom Morello will be playing with LP tonight? Really? His participation on The Hunting Party is in an instrumental track that has never been played before. hahninator
No Tom Morello. So Aaron from Of Mice & Men joined on the Ballad Medley. He sang. Set A. - Key samples on intro to GATS were fucked up. - Given Up intro clapping was stopped and restarted. - Aaron on Ballad Medley singing. Chester introduced him by saying "Make some noise for Aaron everybody." - Chester started giggling during the first few lines of Burn It Down. - Chester in crowd on WFTE outro. - English flag w/ a goofy Mike Shinoda face drawn on it was hung on the keyboard during the encore break. - Chester's microphone cut off during the first few lines of Until It's Gone. BIO was drum solo + Catalyst. - After BIO drum solo, the video screens started showing "test card" and had no visuals. Sounds like a LOT of technical problems at this show. I think the band needs to buy new equipment. Every concert something doesn't work. lgr
I second what's been said about last night's reaction to Ballad Medley, the crowd were really loud on that one. The tech problems were minimal, I only noticed them because I was looking out for stuff for the show notes.. mic cut outs were literally just a word or two, GATS/GU intro problems were noticable (GU particularly) but quickly fixed. the only really major fuck up was the screens on BIO but that didn't affect the performance. I wouldn't call this a "glitchy" show by any means. My comment about CB giggling (having watched my vid of it) was actually just like a hiccup or his voice stalling, I wasn't sure at the time Quote Link to comment https://lplive.net/forums/topic/11415-20141122-manchester-england/#findComment-239266 Share on other sites

hahninator
So if Aaron Pauley sings on a lipsynched part of the show....is he really singing? Kidding, you can easily hear him. Guest spots are good, no matter who it is. I'll always welcome that. As much as I'd like to see more guest spots I am really surprised as to the ones that happen. Brandon Boyd? Na fuck it. Chester singing with Incubus? Fuck that too, we'll just bring out Mike Einziger for the last 1/3 of the tour instead. Now they bring out Austin and Aaron, lol, how random. Let us know about it when you get some information, if possible There's also a thread in Live Talk for the tour recordings on this tour, you can use that thread or this thread. Manchester's arena is huge. Pictures of the crowd last night...wow. Entire floor was full. hahninator
The only ones I have ever seen were Chris Cornell on Crawling (4x) and Chester on Hunger Strike (4x). It's a shame they don't do collaborations more often. The Incubus ones were something they should have taken advantage of. Kirstie
Amazing show!! Never seen such massive mosh pits at a Linkin Park show before! It seemed to go really fast though! Over far too quickly! My casual fan fiancé loved it too and really liked the set list. Also met loads of really cool LPUers and LP themselves were so lovely!
