hahninator
While on Carnivores Tour, we heard a few rumblings about an upcoming winter arena tour in North America for Linkin Park. However, we heard the exact same thing on Honda Civic Tour 2012 (before the scrapped European Fall Tour that year) and the tour didn't end up happening as Linkin Park went to New Zealand and then Australia for Soundwave instead. A few things have been mentioned about a North American Tour next year. In the September 18th LPU Chat with Joe, someone asked if the band would be doing another USA tour after the European shows for The Hunting Party, to which he replied, "yes." Most recently, FOH Online did a great press piece on the Linkin Park crew that has quote of "Next up, we’re doing arena tours in Europe with the same P.A., rehearsing in late October and performing in November. Then shows in Brazil and there’s some talk of another U.S. arena tour in January.” And way back in fall 2013, Chester mentioned to radio that Linkin Park was preparing a North American Tour for 2015. While some of these simply just mention a tour of the continent in 2015, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that they would do an arena tour since the summer amphitheaters were covered on Carnivores. The band has also yet to hit other markets such as Asia and Australia (perhaps the Middle East as well) for The Hunting Party. It will have been four years since they had last played at Madison Square Garden and four years since a North American tour of arenas. Linkin Park usually announces these shows only a few months before instead of much earlier like a summer tour. The last arena tour in North America for A Thousand Suns was announced on November 15, 2010. That time period is approaching rapidly and also falls in the middle of the upcoming European Tour, so time will tell. As far as other rumors go, the Multishow broadcasters for the Belo Horizonte, Brazil webcast mentioned that Linkin Park is rumored to headline Rock In Rio 2015 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil between September 18th and 27th and that they could also perform in Sao Paulo around the same time. A European Tour for next summer (August time frame) is rumored - specifically, a return to Germany. The band's first show in India as well as an Asia and Australia run is expected in mid-to-late 2015. What do you think? felipeintheend
I dont see any chance for Lollapalooza if RiR get into the negotiation. Of course they has more power. Geki
I think a US Arena Tour in January/February/March time slot would be great, it'd be cool if they played some B cities like they did in 2008 instead of all major cities like with the 2011 tour. I'd definitely go to Madison Square Garden and other east coast shows. LeonardoMF93
Ohh no! I don't want an Arena Tour in North America. I planning to travel to US in the middle of the year to see them in NY. They never play in New York City, just in some cities near by. I hope they announce an Asian or Australian Tour for the beginning of the year and then an American Tour for May, June or July. Multishow belongs to Globo group, one of the partners of Rock in Rio, so I think they have credibility to talk about that. They helped to bring the festival to Brazil in 2011 after 10 years. It's a reliable source. I dont see any chance for Lollapalooza if RiR get into the negotiation. Of course they has more power. Agree. I think that's more believable to see LP playing at Rock in Rio than Lollapalooza. It's more economically attractive and the RIR executives worked with the band in a lot of opportunities in the past (3 in Lisbon and now in US). But it's good to say: Lollapalooza and Rock in Rio don't work with contracts of exclusivity, so it's a possibility to see them playing in both festivals. It's hard to believe that this gonna happen but it's not impossible. I bet they will be playing at Rock in Rio and not at Lollapalooza. One thing we an say for sure: The band was consulted by both and we have 90% of chances to see them in the stage of one of those festivals. [AndOne]
but they won't play that on a regular tour, there are other small venues but they won't play them. If they do an arena tour it's MSG, if they do an amphitheatre tour in the summer it will be Wantagh. LPFreak64
If there isn't a Nashville/Atlanta/Birmingham date in Jan - Mar, I think I'll go crazy.Hopefully there will be a couple of good openers and I'll explode. If not, I'll do MFR. Really hoping for a good middle band with an album release within the last year (Chevelle, Flyleaf, Taking Back Sunday, The Used, Nonpoint, Adelitas Way) and then an up-&-coming band that is starting to get radio airplay, and need a big tour to launch them even higher (You Me at Six, Nothing More, Starset). Geki
I see. Isn't possible a LP concert in NYC in another place? So probably I will have to go from NYC to another city to see them. That's not good. LP is a huge band, so they aren't going to play small venues or obscure places unless they intentionally want to do so. LP wanted an intimate venue in 2010, so that is why they chose the Best Buy Theater. On a regular tour, Linkin Park is going to play places more like Madison Square Garden because they know they can sell the tickets and bring in way more people. Chester said it best during MTV The Ride. He said when they dropped Meteora, they had to basically start over again, going from selling out huge arenas and stuff to having to play smaller places with less people, which they didn't enjoy as much. Madison Square Garden is a great venue, though, I have only been there once to see LP, but I recommend it to anyone that has the opportunity to go. lakersfan13
This is the one I've been waiting for. With a lot of effort and moving things around, I was able to pull off 5 shows this summer. I'll probably do less shows this time around because arena shows end up being farther from each other IMO, but getting to the shows should take little effort with a lot of free time. Also DC101 has been playing a lot of LP leading up to their "Big Announcement" at 2:10. One can hope something will come out of it. Probably not though. EDIT: Nope it's Foo Fighters playing a club show. Tyleronlplive
Just hoping they don't do 90% of the same cities as they did for Carnivores. I'd kill for Pittsburgh and some smaller cities. And hopefully some new setlists will be made for the tour. Butnhonestly, the band needs some time between tours. The ATS world tour took a toll on them, especially Chester. LeonardoMF93
No because they will likely play MSG. Wantagh is really hard to get to from NYC. I won't be able to travel for a Winter Tour, only in May, June or July. That's the problem. Really? I saw that I can take the Babylon (I think that's a train) somewhere near Manhattan and then a cab in the Wantagh Avenue. It doesn't look so hard. I know it's far away but it looks so simple. Geki
This is all just speculation anyways. I'd wait for an official announcement from the actual band to rule anything out travel wise. [AndOne]
It's not that hard but you definitely have a really hard time with amphitheaters without a car, public transport to those doesn't really exist. Getting a cab back might be a problem with all the after show traffic, and is going to be expensive if you are stuck in traffic. Arenas are usually directly in the major city centers, so that is a plus. Amphitheaters are not in cities, they are in tiny little shitty towns, and not even in walking distance from there. Geki
That is a lot easier to do in the Summer. US Arena Tour is usually in the winter and if you're on the east coast, that can suck. I remember waiting to get into the TD Arena or whatever in Boston back in 2011 and it was literally like 5 degrees out in the middle of a huge blizzard, and that was just to get into the venue. RogueSoul
I'll totally do MSG, should they be playing a show there. Susquehanna Bank Center is also an option (it can function as an arena in the winter months). Susquehanna Bank Center is also an option (it can function as an arena in the winter months). I think if we just look at the schedule of the 2008 and 2011 arena tours, we have an idea of most of the places the band will be playing. I wouldn't go back as far as 2004 or prior, because LP is arguable a bigger band now and has a lot of respect from people in terms of their live show. For the east coast, I would say TD Garden (Boston), Madison Square Garden (New York), Mohegan Sun Arena (Uncasville) and Verizon Wireless Arena (Manchester, NH) are all places that I would attend. Then you have stuff like Montreal, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, etc. as well but those are pretty far from me. I couldn't really see them doing Manchester, NH again for some reason, I think they would probably rather just do Boston since they are so close to each other and the TD Garden is a more well known venue. Madison Square Garden is probably guaranteed basically if they do an arena tour. Not sure about Mohegan Sun Arena, but maybe. I'll probably do 2 shows and try for 3 if I'm lucky. Yeah, I'm fucked anyway. Ahh by the way, LP and Metallica will be playing at the same day at Rock in Rio USA, according to José Norberto Flesch, one of the best journalists in Brazil. He is the same person who confirmed before the official announcement the concerts in Belo Horizonte, Brasilia and the South American Tour 2012.
