    3/04/01: SPAIN, FRANCE

    what's up, peoples!? so we're out here in montpellier, france right now; we just finished three dates in madrid, san sebastian, and barcelona. please excuse any typing errors, as french keyboards are vastly different from the ones i'm used to. anyway, the shows have been going great, and we hope all the people wathcing are having as much fun as we are...it's interesting: mentally, we have to backtrack, and get used to playing in front of people who haven't heard us before. the album hasn't been out for very long out here, and not that many people are familiar with the songs (or the english language either, for that matter). so it's been a fun challenge to play extra hard, and hopefully we'll have some video footage for you to see someday. i love hearing people sing our songs with heavy accents.

    french food is for the experienced...i have a hard time finding places i can eat at. it's all good though. we haven't gambled on this tour yet. but we have hung out with the deftones and taproot. lucky we haven't gambled with them, becuase i know none of us or taproot could hang if stephan bet his rolex on a hand of cards. word.

    2/08/01: MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA

    Styles of Beyond has finished their time on our tour, and we were all sad to see them go home. they are really nice guys, and put on an excellent show. i hear they're going to go home to save up some money and showcase for some more record labels, as they are as of yet an unsigned act.

    as for us, driving almost non-stop for days at a time with twelve people trapped in one vehicle with "the shining" playing in the background isn't one of the most ideal ways to travel. -hahaha- at least we got here; the drive from denver last night was pretty rough, especially in the snow. something froze in our septic system, and the bathroom smell kept rob and i from going to sleep for a while last night. but our bus driver (also named rob) managed to fix it eventually.

    but this past week, the shows in salt lake city and denver were awesome. some of the biggest crowds we've headlined for, and the energy in the room really pushed us to deliver. everyone in our bus and taproot's bus have been passing around a cold. chester and steve were having coughing fits yesterday. all of our guys slept about 12 hours last night, trying to fight it off. good timing for a day off. we'll gather our energy so we can give 110% at the show tomorrow night.

    i'm going to stop writing and go look at some of those art contest entries. good luck to all...

    - This is the first confirmed show on this tour that we know of where 'Crawling' was dropped for 'Pushing Me Away'. 'Crawling' was played at the first two shows in Madrid and San Sebastian but due to the Montpellier recording being incomplete, we don't know if it made it to the fourth show or not. Sometime in between San Sebastian and this show is when it was dropped (either Barcelona or Montpellier). Prior to September 2018 when this setlist was added, we thought 'Crawling' could have made it to Milano and Wien, but we now know that it did not.

    we just played our first of two shows in manchester last night. this tour has been excellent...today, we were greeted here in london by some kids (who showed up before ANY of the crew of bands got here) with a 4-foot hand drawn poster of the band; we signed it and they're going to keep it for their collection...

    thank you guys for showing up at the shows. this tour has been an awesome experience. tonight's show is at a ridiculously huge venue, the biggest we've played so far.

    - The band changed up the setlist entirely due to this being the second show in Manchester on the tour. 'A Place For My Head' and 'Forgotten' were moved to the start of the set and 'With You' and 'Runaway' took their place at the end of the set before 'One Step Closer'. This setlist was one song longer than what the band had been playing for the whole tour.
    - The normal show intro used before 'With You' on this tour was used before 'A Place For My Head'.

    - After 'Crawling', Mike and Chester asked the crowd whether they wanted to hear 'Pushing Me Away' or a "really old song not on the album" called 'High Voltage'. The crowd overwhelmingly voted for 'High Voltage'. The intro to 'Pushing Me Away' was started twice (with one even featuring Brad playing part of the guitar part on the intro) and it was aborted twice before 'High Voltage' began.

    2/08/01: MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA

    Styles of Beyond has finished their time on our tour, and we were all sad to see them go home. they are really nice guys, and put on an excellent show. i hear they're going to go home to save up some money and showcase for some more record labels, as they are as of yet an unsigned act.

    as for us, driving almost non-stop for days at a time with twelve people trapped in one vehicle with "the shining" playing in the background isn't one of the most ideal ways to travel. -hahaha- at least we got here; the drive from denver last night was pretty rough, especially in the snow. something froze in our septic system, and the bathroom smell kept rob and i from going to sleep for a while last night. but our bus driver (also named rob) managed to fix it eventually.

    but this past week, the shows in salt lake city and denver were awesome. some of the biggest crowds we've headlined for, and the energy in the room really pushed us to deliver. everyone in our bus and taproot's bus have been passing around a cold. chester and steve were having coughing fits yesterday. all of our guys slept about 12 hours last night, trying to fight it off. good timing for a day off. we'll gather our energy so we can give 110% at the show tomorrow night.

    Older Linkin Park fansites (pre-LPLive) listed these shows as being canceled due to passport issues with Linkin Park. In March 2016 with the discovery of a tour itinerary from this tour, we can confirm that this is not the case. Linkin Park was not scheduled to ever play these shows. Instead, the Street Soldiers' Tour ended on February 24th, and Linkin Park left the U.S. three days later on February 27th for Madrid, where they started the tour. The reason for this is because the band was in Los Angeles to shoot the music video for 'Crawling'.

    what's up, peoples!? so we're out here in montpellier, france right now; we just finished three dates in madrid, san sebastian, and barcelona. please excuse any typing errors, as french keyboards are vastly different from the ones i'm used to. anyway, the shows have been going great, and we hope all the people wathcing are having as much fun as we are...it's interesting: mentally, we have to backtrack, and get used to playing in front of people who haven't heard us before. the album hasn't been out for very long out here, and not that many people are familiar with the songs (or the english language either, for that matter). so it's been a fun challenge to play extra hard, and hopefully we'll have some video footage for you to see someday. i love hearing people sing our songs with heavy accents.

    french food is for the experienced...i have a hard time finding places i can eat at. it's all good though. we haven't gambled on this tour yet. but we have hung out with the deftones and taproot. lucky we haven't gambled with them, becuase i know none of us or taproot could hang if stephan bet his rolex on a hand of cards. word.

    - Kerrang gave away 200 pairs of tickets to this performance, which was advertised as a "30 minute set w/ a meet and greet".     - In interviews after the show, the band said they knew when they sucked on stage, and London's performance was one that they definitely did NOT suck at.

    - Due to the band not having any passes, Mike was briefly stopped at the front door a half hour before the show by security and was told he couldn't enter.

    - The day after this performance, the band held an all day "day of press", which included a BBC performance of four songs in London.

    we just played our first of two shows in manchester last night. this tour has been excellent...today, we were greeted here in london by some kids (who showed up before ANY of the crew of bands got here) with a 4-foot hand drawn poster of the band; we signed it and they're going to keep it for their collection...

    thank you guys for showing up at the shows. this tour has been an awesome experience. tonight's show is at a ridiculously huge venue, the biggest we've played so far.

    - Originally, this show was rumored for years to have been in September 2001. Upon discovery of tour itineraries from 2001 in March 2016, we were able to confirm that yes, there was a canceled Top of the Pops performance on September 13, 2001. We had this date listed as being on March 24, 2001 before the London Docklands Arena show, but the tour itinerary discovery finally confirmed the date as being on March 8, 2001 between the Italy and Austria shows.
    - The band may have performed more than just these three songs (the case with Top of the Pops 2003 can be used as support for this). However, only these three were broadcasted. A February 2023 discovery of internal Top of the Pops tapes leads to the suggestion that only these three songs ended up being performed.

    - After 'And One', Mike said his infamous quote of, "We support free music, so go ahead - download that shit!" The quote was taken out of context years down the road, when Mike meant that he was fine with fans going online and getting the songs not on Hybrid Theory at the time.

    - Finishing the main set with 'Runaway', Chester re-emerged with an acoustic guitar and sits on a stool under the spotlight: "I don't want to see any more girls coming over this barrier looking like they've had the shit kicked out of them!", he spits, "What happened to chivalry? You see someone fall down, you pick 'em up!". Offering crowd the choice between hearing his solo acoustic rendition of Jane's Addiction's 'Jane Says' or one of his own compositions, the crowd elects the latter, and he strums his way through 'Morning After', a song "written about sleeping in my car". This song would be played once more in 2001 - on September 12th in Berlin, Germany. 'Morning After' was played again by Chester several times in 2005 with his cover band called Bucket Of Weenies. Shortly afterward, it was confirmed to be a song on his side project Dead By Sunrise's debut CD. The song has been played constantly on the Dead By Sunrise shows since 2008.
