    - The setlist changed for this show, with 'Step Up' being dropped completely, taking it down one song. 'By Myself' was moved to the encore.

    - The band debuted a new show intro for this show. This intro was popular for many years because of the Milano TV recording, but since this is the first performance of it, we have called it the Docklands Intro. The band went on to use it for the rest of 2001 after this show.

    - Right at the beginning of the first chorus of 'Papercut', Brad stops playing and has the band stop the song due to people falling down in the crowd. Mike and Chester talk for a few minutes about how fans should help each other out in the crowd before they restart the song from the beginning.

    - Evidence and Rakaa Iriscience from the Dilated Peoples came out and danced around on the end of 'High Voltage'.

    - Chester did not sing his usual vocal outro to 'In The End' at this show.

    - Before 'My December', Chester said they had only played the song twice since they wrote it (once the previous day in Manchester, UK and once at KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas 2000).

    - Joe's semi-famous Blow Your Mind interlude was first played at this show. It was used on-and-off for the rest of 2001 as well as during all of Projekt Revolution 2002.

    - Marky Chavez from Adema & Wes Scantlin from Puddle of Mudd joined the band on the bridge of 'One Step Closer'.

    Other Notes:

    - Fans attending this show had to sign a waiver saying they consented to being filmed for a Linkin Park DVD. This appears to be the first planned Linkin Park live DVD release that we know of. It is unknown why the show wasn't released. A lower quality version of the DVD was released on LPLive in September 2012 for the website's 6th anniversary.

    - 'With You' and 'High Voltage' from this show were released on the LP Underground 2.0 CD.

    - 'Crawling' was played during the soundcheck before the show.

    - This show was sold out.

    - Ryu and Tak from Styles Of Beyond came out and sang on 'Points Of Authority' from after the second chorus until the end of the song.

    - This is the first known time that Chester used the vocal delay on 'High Voltage' live. It is unclear why he did not continue using it throughout 2001.

    - Chester sang the demo lyrics "Fear is powerful" during the chorus of 'Crawling'.

    - 'In The End' was aborted and restarted. A Yahoo press piece in 2001 explains it: "Five songs into an ecstatic set at the historic Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, Linkin Park launches into "In The End." Something's not quite right. "Stop, stop, stop," vocalist Mike Shinoda orders. The crowd is shocked. "You guys are kicking our ass, and that wasn't right," he admits. "We want to live up to your standards."

     

    The six-member band reloads and then kicks the tune up a notch. A couple weeks later, singer Chester Bennington explains, "We know how well we can play and we know what people hear. We try to match that as much as possible live. I'd say about 90 percent of the time we do; there's about 10 percent of the time that we don't, and we hate that. So it was cool for him to do that."

     

    Apparently, that's not the first time the band has taken that approach. "There was this one time when the crowd started the song and they were so on. We skipped a beat and I stopped it, too. I said, 'This is about as punk-rock as we get, so we're going to start the song over.' We try to maintain a level of quality in our set.""

    - Stephen Richards from Taproot came out and sang on 'A Place For My Head' from the bridge until the end of the song.

    Other Notes:

    - The band stayed after the show and signed autographs for every fan that they could. Security was kicking people out because it was so late and the band kept signing until the last one was made to leave.

    - A digital capture of the Fillmore documentary broadcast by Swedish channel ZTV was released on linkin-inside.

    - Footage from this show was used in the 'Points Of Authority' music video.

    1/30/01: STREET SOLDIERS TOUR BEGINS

    Hey, what's up people! How's the new site! I hope you guys are stoked because we've been working really hard to get this thing up. We always talk about being dedicated to our web presence, so we're "putting our money where our mouth is."

    Right now I'm sitting at the world-famous Filmore in San Francisco as Taproot are soundchecking Weezer's "Say It Ain't So." The club is video-taping the show tonight so I hope we don't suck.

    We've been really busy these first few days of the tour, but the shows have been going off hard. Seattle, Portland, and Sacto were big sweaty pits of energy. Styles of Beyond are unbelievably sweet and Taproot have been ruling it every night.

    We can't wait to see everybody across the great U.S. of A. Thank you tremendously for your support and dedication. Mostly, enjoy the new site.

    1/31/01: LIVE @ THE FILLMORE

    so...we've been all talk for like two months about this site, and it's finally here. i hope you all like the new features. and if you're an artist, don't forget to enter the fan art contest (see the news/home page for details).

    the tour has been phenomenal so far. last night, we played at the fillmore. we didn't know what to think, looking at the crowd, standing on the same stage that jimi hendrix and led zeppelin played on. i hope that all of you that came to the show enjoyed yourselves as much as we did, and hope that those of you who have tickets to the upcoming shows are excited as we are.

    (and when i jump out into that crowd, i hope you guys have my back!!!)

    3/04/01: SPAIN, FRANCE

    what's up, peoples!? so we're out here in montpellier, france right now; we just finished three dates in madrid, san sebastian, and barcelona. please excuse any typing errors, as french keyboards are vastly different from the ones i'm used to. anyway, the shows have been going great, and we hope all the people wathcing are having as much fun as we are...it's interesting: mentally, we have to backtrack, and get used to playing in front of people who haven't heard us before. the album hasn't been out for very long out here, and not that many people are familiar with the songs (or the english language either, for that matter). so it's been a fun challenge to play extra hard, and hopefully we'll have some video footage for you to see someday. i love hearing people sing our songs with heavy accents.

    french food is for the experienced...i have a hard time finding places i can eat at. it's all good though. we haven't gambled on this tour yet. but we have hung out with the deftones and taproot. lucky we haven't gambled with them, becuase i know none of us or taproot could hang if stephan bet his rolex on a hand of cards. word.

    - To get in the spirit of KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas, LP played four acoustic songs in a row - the first time they had ever played acoustically. The stage turned before their "acoustic set" began, revealing a specially-designed Christmas-themed set for the band. Rob had Christmas lights on his drumkit, stools across the stage, there was a piano for Mike, the cello was brought out for Phoenix, acoustic guitars donned the stage, etc. Brad told Chester before 'Pushing Me Away' that it was like they were on "VH1 Storytellers". 'My December' featured Brad on acoustic guitar, so we are calling that an acoustic performance of the song. Phoenix stayed on the cello and Brad (Mike too, for the first two) donned an acoustic guitar for 'Pushing Me Away', 'Crawling', and 'In The End'. 'Crawling' featured an acoustic guitar intro by Brad and had Aaron Lewis from Staind on the song. Mike played piano on 'My December' and the second half of 'In The End'. Brad also played the 'A Place For My Head' intro on acoustic before the stage turns back before the song kicks in.

    - Since the band filled in for Slipknot, Chester came out on stage with a paper mask covering his face. Fans booed initially at it but by the end of the show, the band had won over the crowd.

    - Chester made moaning sex noises over Joe's intros to the show. Joe performed three different intros for the set.

    - After the intro of 'A Place For My Head', Mike and Chester said Slipknot asked them to fill in, and they were bummed that Slipknot wasn't there too. The band changed the setlist up from the show earlier in the day by moving some of the heavier songs up to the top.

    - Mike and Chester performed a beatbox intro to 'Points Of Authority' and again for 'Papercut'.

    - Brad performed a short 'Sweet Child O' Mine' guitar cover after 'Papercut'.

    - Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit came out at three different points during this show: First, during 'Crawling', he started pouring beer over Chester's head (causing him to laugh), and rapped/repeated a couple of Chester's lines. Next, during 'Runaway', he came out and tried to pour beer on Chester again, prompting Chester to yell "FUCK YOU!" right in the middle of one of his lines, before continuing. Finally, he can be heard yelling "Fuck the guitar, let's do this shit!" right before the bridge in 'One Step Closer' (referring to Brad's guitar which had quit working in the middle of the song).

    - Between 'High Voltage' and 'In The End' the band performed a short jam version of 'Pictureboard'. This is the first confirmed performance of it and the only known time that Chester sang any vocals over it. The track was performed twice after this (Rock am Ring and Tinley Park, the first show of Ozzfest). In March 2016, a setlist for four shows before this one was found with a "MELLOW Interlude" after 'High Voltage', which could possibly be this version of 'Pictureboard'.

    - Chester changed the lyrics to the chorus of 'One Step Closer' right before the bridge:

    “Everything you say to me
    The motherfuckin room will shake
    Everything you hate of me
    Another fucking goddamn strain”

    Other Notes:

    - This was the second show of the day for the band. Slipknot was originally scheduled to perform at 1 am as 'Late Night Special'. At some point of the day the presenters of the festival told the crowd that, "There's a little change in the programme tonight: Slipknot will NOT play. Instead Linkin Park will play again. Slipknot have played a gig in Bremen last night, but since then the band has disappeared, we have no idea where they are". It is rumored that Slipknot canceled because Shawn Crahan's wife was ill, but it has never been confirmed.

    - Around 8,500 people fit into this tent, which was built up in the Ice Stadium near the Frankenstadion.

    - After 'And One', Mike said his infamous quote of, "We support free music, so go ahead - download that shit!" The quote was taken out of context years down the road, when Mike meant that he was fine with fans going online and getting the songs not on Hybrid Theory at the time.

    - Finishing the main set with 'Runaway', Chester re-emerged with an acoustic guitar and sits on a stool under the spotlight: "I don't want to see any more girls coming over this barrier looking like they've had the shit kicked out of them!", he spits, "What happened to chivalry? You see someone fall down, you pick 'em up!". Offering crowd the choice between hearing his solo acoustic rendition of Jane's Addiction's 'Jane Says' or one of his own compositions, the crowd elects the latter, and he strums his way through 'Morning After', a song "written about sleeping in my car". This song would be played once more in 2001 - on September 12th in Berlin, Germany. 'Morning After' was played again by Chester several times in 2005 with his cover band called Bucket Of Weenies. Shortly afterward, it was confirmed to be a song on his side project Dead By Sunrise's debut CD. The song has been played constantly on the Dead By Sunrise shows since 2008.

    hey. it's mike and phoenix. I already wrote a bunch of funny crap, and Mike had the computer set up wrong, so we were disconnected from the internet, so we lost it all... We're in Germany, and I (Phoenix) am jetlagged... I've been up the last couple of days by 4 am, and a few minutes ago German MTV played the rock-rap-nu-metal "Koom By Ya My Lord." Needless to say, I feel like I'm on a different planet than the one I grew up on. For the record, the current LP vote on The Mummy Returns is 2-2. Mike and Brad enjoyed the movie, while Joe and I were pretty big negatories. The international scene is great, but I'm definitely excited to be touring in the states again on the Ozzfest... thanks for all your support.// i (mike) don't know why the computer bombed. but whatever...here we are anyway. german mtv and music here in general doesn't make sense to me yet. but i guess if i was german, i'd get it. we're playing rock im park today, for a gigantic crowd. neato. i'm excited for ozzfest. by the way, thanks for all the cool questions on the message board. we'll have to do a little FAQ session again sometime. see ya soon...

    - The festival consisted of two stages, each inside a separate hangar at the Events Center - Jade Chamber and Crimson Chamber. Between the two hangars many booths were set up promoting various radio stations and selling food, drink, and products ranging from T-shirts to CDs to water pipes. Bands that played in the Jade Chamber consisted mainly of electronica and turntablists, while groups in the Crimson Chamber consisted of live bands and hip-hop bands.

    - 'Cure For The Itch', which appeared at the Hamburg show (maybe Paris too), was dropped for this show and would only reappear once again on the touring cycle - the London Brixton Academy show in June 2001.

    Other Notes:

    - This was the band's first show in England. It was at the Kings College Student Union, inside a venue apparently called "Tutu's".

    - Kerrang gave away 200 pairs of tickets to this performance, which was advertised as a "30 minute set w/ a meet and greet". To win the tickets, you had to call Kerrang and answer the question, "In which TV park does Kenny get killed every week?", with the answer being South Park, an American television show.

    - In interviews after the show, the band said they knew when they sucked on stage, and London's performance was one that they definitely did NOT suck at.

    - Due to the band not having any passes, Mike was briefly stopped at the front door a half hour before the show by security and was told he couldn't enter.

    - The day after this performance, the band held an all day "day of press", which included a BBC performance of four songs in London.

    - A 30-second snippet of 'One Step Closer' was released in the 'Crawling' DVD single.

    - Footage from this show was used in the 'Points Of Authority' music video.

    - The band had some equipment problems after 'With You', which delayed the start of the next song for a few minutes. Brad played a short 'Sweet Child O' Mine' guitar tease.

    - Before 'A Place For My Head' (during the break), Chester said that the song was influenced by 'Rocket Queen' by Guns N' Roses. During the intro, he screamed, "What doesn't fucking kill us makes us fucking stronger, am I fucking right?" three times.

    - 'High Voltage' was featured in the setlist, which was rare for the OFFEST shows. It is possibly the only OFFEST show that had it (even though we're missing the Portland setlist just before this show) and likely was played due the band bringing it back for the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame show a week earlier as well as the fact that they had played Wantagh in late June for a radio festival.

    - Brad started playing the usual 'In The End' guitar intro from 2001 after 'Crawling', but someone told the band that they only had time for one song left, so they went into 'One Step Closer' instead. Due to equipment problems, it is possible that the setlist was changed (since 'A Place For My Head' never was in the number two spot in the setlist) mid-show, but it is known that 'In The End' was at least planned to be played after 'Crawling'.

    - Chester on Spin (2004): At Jones Beach on Long Island. Total equipment failure. All of our DJ stuff was completely gone--there was no power in any of it. All of our drum samples went dead. It's Linkin Park with nothing but raw instruments. You listen to "One Step Closer" and there's nothing but guitar and bass. Then I physically transformed by body into a visualization of what was happening onstage, and by the end of the show, I was running around in nothing but my shorts. I had no shoes on, no shirt, no jewelry. I was basically singing a cappella. Kids were like, "What song is this?" Hopefully, it'll be just this good when we come back to Jones Beach."

    Other Notes:

    - In the Hybrid Odyssey documentary that has part of 'By Myself' from this show featured in it, MTV mistakenly lists the date for the show as March 9th, 2001.

    - MuchMusic did a contest for its Gonna Meet a Rockstar series where a fan would have the chance to spend the day with Linkin Park and watch the show from backstage. The episode aired on February 10, 2002 and features a clip of 'With You'.

    - Offest / Big Day Off was essentially a "tour inside a tour" where a partial version of the Ozzfest lineup played eleven shows between Ozzfest shows.

    - This show was filmed for HBO Reverb (as Mike mentions during the show) but it was never shown on TV, possibly because of the problems the band was having during the show. HBO ended up showing six songs from the London Docklands Arena show about five weeks later.

    - Chester performed 'Walk' (Pantera cover) with Disturbed.

    - 'High Voltage' was released in 2013 on the new Hybrid Theory deluxe edition on iTunes.

    we just played our first of two shows in manchester last night. this tour has been excellent...today, we were greeted here in london by some kids (who showed up before ANY of the crew of bands got here) with a 4-foot hand drawn poster of the band; we signed it and they're going to keep it for their collection...

    thank you guys for showing up at the shows. this tour has been an awesome experience. tonight's show is at a ridiculously huge venue, the biggest we've played so far.

    - Chester, Brad and Phoenix dressed up as 80's Rock Stars complete with leather pants, bandannas, studs, etc. This was their way of dealing with some rough crowds the first couple shows of the Ozzfest tour. This is also documented on the 'Frat Party At The Pankake Festival' DVD.

    - 'With You' was released on the Ozzfest 2001 CD. The CD insert says, "Recorded live at Alpine Valley Music Theatre, Milwaukee, Wis. June 9, 2001 and at Deer Creek Amp. in East Troy, Wis. June 11, 2001", but a recording exists from the June 9th show and it is not from that show. There was also no show on June 11th. The Deer Creek Amphitheatre/Music Center exists (now under the name Klipsch Music Center and formerly Verizon Wireless Music Center) and is located in Noblesville, IN. We have a suitable date one day later on June 12th. An Epic Records spokesperson confirmed to MTV that the album was recorded at the Milwaukee and Indianapolis stops of the tour. While this is not 100% confirmed, it is almost certain that the recording of 'With You' came from this show.

    okay, so the australian shows have been banannas. i think it's safe to say a show has gone well when the kids leave behind them a BROKEN CLUB FLOOR. when everyone cleared out of the enmore theatre in sydney, there was a 20-foot circle where the floor had been smashed down about 18 lower than where it was supposed to be. the crowd was so out of hand that they broke the floor. and tonight in melbourne, we had the biggest turnout that we've had on a headlining show. we can't wait to see what happens in brisbane.
