  1. LESTAT and Serg - I've got all the 3.0 pages so I can get those to you if you need to see them to fix some stuff on this version. I know there must be quite a bit that needs to be fixed. I can help run through every single 3.0 page and compare it with 2.0 if that's what we need to do, and I think that'd be a good idea actually.

    Also,

    http://www.lplive.net/cb.php

The Chris Cornell website (the forums actually) has a ton of the PR setlists, and I can help with show info and stuff for them. I'll work on that soon too. Mountain View has a full recording and I recorded half of West Palm Beach. Not sure about any other recordings.

  2. Imagine if they did this {SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif

22.11.2008 Lafayette, LA, Cajundome, Music For Relief Southeast Coast Benefit Tour

23.11.2008 New Orleans, LA, Superdome, Music For Relief Southeast Coast Benefit Tour

25.11.2008 Houston, TX, Toyota Center, Music For Relief Southeast Coast Benefit Tour

Oh can we only dream {SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif

Get like another huge band, or shit, even Linkin Park and Chris Cornell come back together for 3 shows for MFR. Or something like an LP/JZ 3 shows and have some other big rap stars and a rock band or 2 come. Something to attract crowds and bring in a lot of cash. Because I sure would go.

Linkin Park, Jay-Z, Chris Cornell, Timbaland, Kanye West, and Atreyu

  3. Well NRL will most likely be played this tour. Which I find kinda infurating. The entire US has been screaming for it's debut, so they decide to play it in China. Congrats to all the China fans tho, i'm incredibly jealous of u guys.

    Highly highly HIGHLY doubt it.

    HIGHLY.

  4. Here's something to think about. Linkin Park starts the Asian Tour in a few weeks, and has a Las Vegas gig shortly beforehand. Anyway, with that coming up, I thought we could have a little discussion. Check this out.

What do you guys think that Linkin Park could do differently for the new album? This is a very open topic - you can discuss like the music on the CD, or what's on the LPU CDs, or what they could do differently to promote or where they could tour at, etc. Here are some thoughts I had:

-LPTV's 3rd Edition. Bring back LPTV in the same form as you had it in 2007 with 10-15 episodes. I guess include them for sale on iTunes - it sucks to pay for them but at least we get them in a pretty good quality. 10-15 minute episodes are a must. Since there's episodes for most of the MTM tours already, be creative and use some unreleased footage you have. Music For Relief work, New Orleans work, Tour Rehearsals (practicing new songs live like TLTGYA, BIO, etc, and new intros/outros), etc. Maybe start it right before the studio work starts, so then we can start with like Episode 6 and have it updated every week of what's been going on in the studio. That'd be really cool, like Mission Metallica except better. A 10 minute video of what the band did in the studio every week would be amazing.

-LP Newscaster. Bring it back again. Let Fiore film 2-3 fans every show and let them debut exclusive information, etc. Don't just let it be like "LP is on tour with X band and Y band, and there's 10 shows left so come see the tour!!11one82". Let them be like "And the band has just said that they are now shooting a video for the next single, No More Sorrow, and expect it to be out in a month." That'd be cool. You can't have exclusive info each show, so let them do something different each time like "Hi I'm Melissa and today on LP Newscaster we're in Mansfield, MA, and we're going to visit the Revolution Village and talk to all the bands" or something. Make it really cool to watch and something that the users will come back for every day or however often it's updated.

-Touring. Tour South America. Hit European countries you've never hit like Metallica is doing. Play some South Africa shows. Play in Alaska and Hawaii. Try some other European countries besides England, Germany, and France all the time. Make sure you visit all your fans. Mexico even. Projekt Revolution's continuation as a tour and not a festival is critical.

-Setlists. Keep the setlist rotation going with 3 setlists, but maybe they want to make it 5 setlists. Maybe they want to switch it up every night and make it exclusive. If the band would rehearse more often, they could play songs like 'Forgotten', 'And One', 'Carousel', 'No Roads Left', etc randomly on a tour and keep the surprises coming. Maybe don't play as many singles and play some other material. The rotation was amazing when they debuted it, and it still is, and I think they can expand on it even more with the new album.

What else do you guys think the band could do to be even better?

  5. i dont think they would put NRL on it, unless its live, and i dont think they will play it live. also, i think they should put Grecian on it, coz i really want to hear it.

Grecian was never finished. Why would you want an abandoned track that is not mixed, with NO vocals whatsoever besides the scatting Chester did? Why would you want that instead of a b-side?

  6. how in the world is the kabouki boring? thats like the msot epic part of the show! lol. wake/given up was godly with it. go look at the hannover videos of WID opening...the lights on the kabouki were SICK. huge buildup then bam it drops and its mike shinoda on the keys. epic.

  7. Mike isn't talking shit about Warner at all, and LP isn't going to leave them. All he's really saying is that the music business today is in a vastly different place than it was 10 years ago. If LP was a new band coming up today, they'd probably do things differently.

Linkin Park had their opportunity to get out of their contract with Warner in 2005. Now that they've re-negotiated a new contract, there's NO WAY it will happen until that contract ends. I guarantee that Warner essentially owns and controls everything related to the band now.

I think Shinoda is taking a stab at Warner. He knows they are in a fucked up situation right now, he knows the fans are pissed, he's letting us know they have so little control over things. I'd like to see them take some action and get the hell off of this shitty label ASAP. The fans are being treated like absolute crap here. Warner is guiding the LP fanbase ship right into a massive shipwreck. This is the most genius post I've ever seen by Mike, and it's got people buzzing. Everyone I've talked to, which is about 12 people, think the exact same as I do.

LP is in a bad situation with this label. This could possibly be a result of the DBS situation, which is apparent IN MY OPINION that Warner has taken control of, renamed it, and fucked with it to get maximum profits, not wanting the same thing to happen with DBS as it did for FM.

    Shinoda is an absolute genius.

SITUATION IN HAITI IS DIRE FOLLOWING HURRICANES & FLOODS

    September 19, 2008

"According to the U.N. there are approx. 800,000 people in need of help in Haiti following four recent storms which devastated the Caribbean nation. Tropical storms Fay and Hanna and hurricanes Gustav and Ike all hit Haiti in the span of one month killing more than 600 people and leaving behind a disaster that has practically destroyed the entire port city of Gonaives.

Make a donation here to help those struggling in Haiti!

One week ago today hurricane Ike made landfall on Galveston, TX as a category two storm wiping out entire towns on the Bolivar Peninsula. Some residents cannot tell where their homes or their streets used to be.

DONATE to MFR to aid the recovery effort.

  10. What do you think will be on LPU 8?

Pooch and Dylan have been mixing material in a studio in Dallas this past week - maybe it's some live stuff or possibly album material to put on the CD? Ethan Mates, the LP sound engineer for MTM in the studio (who's also in the DVD all the time), mixed "extra songs and b-sides" in April last year. We know LP recorded 17 songs for MTM - we have 12 on the CD and 13 is No Roads Left.

There's one song we don't have that they did strings for....the mysterious "6th string song". There's a clip of it on the MTM DVD, though. Maybe we'll get that.

An instrumental Hahn track? He said he did some that didn't make the album. Maybe 2 b-sides? 1 b-side? The string track? All live bullshit? What do you think?

  11. i doubt there'll be a tour. remember that chester passed on that grey daze reunion to finish meteora. he's very devoted to lp and won't go do something else that might get in the way of finishing album #4

Actually Chester had no say in that. He was going to do the reunion show for Grey Daze but Warner forced him to return to the studio to do Meteora. It was all a label decision and Chester wasn't allowed to do the reunion.

    What assholes.

  12. What are the top tracks of the ENTIRE Minutes To Midnight touring cycle? Out of all the live shows, what do you guys like the most? I'd like to put a compilation together and upload it. I'll throw some out that I can think of now:

-No More Sorrow (first performance live), Berlin 07 AUD

-Hands Held High (first performance live), Mountain View 07 SBD

-TLTGYA, Pinkpop 07 AUD (Chaz talks about New Orleans)

-TLTGYA, Atlanta 07 SBD (Mike talks about New Orleans and asks who's from the city...song is played perfectly)

-WID, Atlanta 07 SBD (Said by many to be the best performance of the song without an intro; Chester is on 100%)

-Breaking The Habit, Camden 07 SBD (Just because it's the first time EVER with no intro live)

-Bleed It Out, Seattle 07 SBD (First time live with it extended so much...absolutely epic show)

-In Pieces, San Bernardino 07 SBD ("That was for every...fucking...ex-asshole...lover...in the world." Sam shoutout ftw!)

    -Hunger Strike, Woodlands 08 SDB

A Place For My Head Hannover?

    My December KROQ 07?

    Hands Held High KROQ 07?

Faint Berlin, Faint Rock am Ring?

ONE STEP FUCKING CLOSER, ROCK AM RING!? (best performance of it since Mountain View 2004!?)

APFMH / OSC Edgefest 08? Lights go out right at "GO AWAY" on APFMH, perfect timing; come back on right at "SHUT UP" in OSC...awesome

BTH / PMA / HHH / WID Edgefest 08? First time ever BTH piano?

    Crawling w/HHH+Cornell on PR08?

Anything with the POA outros or intros? A Bourdon drum solo? What are the best ones?

    Lets hear what you think.

What do you all think? Throw out some exceptional performances.

  13. lol, exactly.

I think it's useless to speculate the origin of this songs since only a member of the band can really answer that. That would be a good question for a M&G on the next tour, don't forget to able to playback the song for them, I hardly doubt they know what you mean when you say Be Yourself

Phoenix didn't even know at Pinkpop 2007's M&G about Carousel/Part Of Me live, lmao. "Oh well yeah I think we might've done them, I'm not sure". Funny.

If I get a M&G with ManBearPig next tour, I'll take an mp3 player and ask. He wins all the MFR Auctions for the shows he goes to so he gets like 10-15 mins with 2 members every show he goes to, so if he'll be nice enough to let me in on one of them I'll ask LP. Anything else we could ask?

And LP in Alabama would be nice. What part of Alabama are you from? I think they played there maybe...once.

17.11.2000 Birmingham, AL, 5 Points Music Hall

Right after the Masquerade in Atlanta. Holy shit, I couldn't even imagine LP at the Masquerade, LOL. They should play the Birmingham amphitheatre that Stone Temple Pilots and other acts play at, the one in Pelham, AL. Why haven't you come to Atlanta for Proj Rev 07/08?

  14. Straight from the blog of the master - http://www.mikeshinoda.com. Let's hear your thoughts. Is there an underlying message in this? Do you think Mike is realizing the mess Warner is putting the LP fans in? Not only that, but with Machine Shop, Styles Of Beyond, Holly Brook, etc. You folks over at SOBCentral.com know exactly what I'm talking about. Is this just a statement or is Mike really saying something to us? I think Mike's speaking out. Opinions and comments?

HOW TO DECIDE: MAJOR OR INDIE?

"i want to add something that i may not have made 100% clear with my statement at blogworld about signing (or not) with major labels. i knew that this statement would resonate...don't worry, i'm not backing down from what i said at all.

by no means do i know everything about how this works. i've made mistakes, and i don't know all the inner workings of the varied, complicated agreements that musicians are making with various entities. as you read on, i simply want to remind you that there are other opinions on the subject. this is mine.

at blogworld, i said that if you want to make a living making music, and you don't need the "fame" aspect (you don't need to "blow up"), then you don't need to go with a major. it's more complex than "avoiding majors" though. AND, to be perfectly clear, i'm also not saying the ONLY other option is an indie label (you could distribute it and promote it yourself, for example). i'm saying that there are many ways to be a self-sustaining musician these days. recording is easier and cheaper than ever, distribution can be nearly as simple as setting up a paypal account, and online fanbases are out there for you to find and connect with.

the key still is, and will always be: is your music good? do i, as a fan, like it? to what degree am i interested in being a part of what you have to offer through your recordings, shows, or merchandise?

on a side note: if fame is the focus part of the equation today, then what about linkin park? the answer: times were different back in the late 1990s when we signed with a major. they weren't asking for ownership of your touring, merchandise, fan club, and domain name back then. they are now.

to put it in perspective: tom whalley, the president of warner brothers, would love to see you succeed and build a strong following of 10,000 fans by yourself, with no one else's help. at that point, he knows that if you decide to work with warner bros., although he will have to offer you more in order for you to be interested in working with WB, your work has given you (and them) a head start, plus they know they're working with someone who understands what it takes to build momentum from the ground up. it's a win-win.

anyway, the bottom line is that the power is now in your hands more than ever. my advice to you is to throw the old rulebook out, be thoughtful about your decisions, and do what works for you."
