http://www.daveyd.com/FullArticles/articleN1255.asp This over powering sense of division in the Jurassic 5, seems to be centered around Chali2Na’s elevation to ‘front man’ of the group. And betrayal not by him, but by the groups musical peers seems to be more evident than ever. I reference the recent collaboration with Linkin Park and open a big can of worms, it seems. “I didn’t do that either!” Zaakir states emphatically as we both laugh “You got to understand this man, ok. Linkin Park, we met those dudes at the VMA [video music awards] not the ones this year, but last year’s ones. The cats came and spoke with Marc 7, and I know they exchanged numbers. And I met a couple of ‘em and one of ‘em was like ‘Hey we really enjoy you guys……hopefully in the future we can do something’ I was like ‘cool, I have no problem with that’. But I always thought that was somewhere down the line.” Obviously with Chali2na’s appearance on the new Re:Animation album, this wasn’t the case “I didn’t even know Linkin Park was doing this remix!” Zaakir states as his voice get’s more booming “But when I found out, I found out that they only called Chali. Me? I was like ‘Fuck Linkin Park!’ You gonna sit over there and say ‘Yeah, I wanna work with you’ but you’re only gonna get Chali cause you think he’s the bomb or whatever you might think, but for me it was a slap in the face. The other cats were upset about it, but I didn’t like that shit” He continues “I was like ‘You wanted to work with US, not Chali2na by hisself’ and that type of shit, you know? If that’s what you want, that’s what you ask for. If I don’t like you, I’m not going to talk to you. I keep the peace with you, you keep the peace with my by not talking. But don’t feel obligated to say things that you don’t mean. So yeah, when it’s time to prove you go get who you THINK is Jurassic 5? Like it’s Jurassic 5 [referencing the album credits for Linkin Park, and the advertising] but really it’s Chali. The only one getting love off that is Chali. I don’t get no props for that if it goes quadruple platinum. The other members don’t get no cheque for being on there, that’s all Chali. For me it’s a slap in the face for those dudes of there to say they want to work with Jurassic 5, but in reality you don’t. you just want to work with one member.” “But it’s cool” he concludes “Cause every dog got his day. Man, print that. And I’ll tell them cats in they face and the whole 9. I ain’t got no problem with that. Fuck ya’ll, cause I don’t think that was cool. You can definitely print that. Fuck Linkin Park!”

Text files were 2006 via hahninator.sotrix.net, they went away in what I believe to be early 2007. The reason I ask all this is because our numbers have fucking exploded. We literally didn't start posting LP news until like May/June 2008.
-
Shh You're the reason I even fucking got into this stuff, lol Second show in a row I almost 100% forgot about DBS. Texas show was completely forgotten until 2 hours beforehand and I would've missed the Vegas show for sure. Goodness, lol. Yeah you, Nick and Jonas were here before we even created page #1

Well, it's Friday and not much is going on in the LP world. Hopefully Mike posts his VMA score on his blog like he said he might...maybe that'll be today? Anyway, I was going to ask a few questions to those of you who wanted to reply. How did you first discover LPLive? When did you first visit? Why did you first visit and why do some of you keep coming back? We've obviously gathered our own little community and I was interested in hearing about everyone's history with the site and how you all discovered LPL.
-
LPL sounds better to me too. LPLG at the top needs to go...

I've thought about changing something on the site. When I first started this website in 2006, it was called the Linkin Park Live Guide. Why? Because all we did was update setlists and show. We didn't even have a forum or news or anything...the homepage was simply filled with links to the guide. Fast forward a bit and I remember when we were using CuteNews (a news client) to manage the news...I still remember the first day we installed that and decided to give "updates" on the shows we posted. This gradually, over time, shifted to us actually posting about LP news and then to us getting a forum. Obviously now, the site is not only a guide, but a lot of things: a community, a database, a news outlet, etc. My question to you is this: Since the goals of the site have shifted since we first started, has the time come to finally change our name? I thought about changing "Linkin Park Live Guide" to just "Linkin Park Live". LPLive. People even refer to it as LPLive. We are far more than just a guide, so maybe the time has come to remove the word "Guide" from the site. Sotrix actually brought this up to me last summer but I turned it down, maybe due to ignorance on my part. What do you guys think?

LPL super exclusive isn't this week and likely isn't next week.

I don't see us getting Australia or Wantagh, but hell: Europe 08 was only because of timing. Metallica releases all the damn festival shows, so those shouldn't be a problem. I see us getting everything on this list: 28.04.2007 Berlin, Germany, Kesselhaus 03.05.2007 London, England, Astoria 06.05.2007 East Rutherford, NJ, Giants Stadium Parking Lot, Bamboozle Festival 19.05.2007 Irvine, CA, Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, KROQ Weenie Roast 2007 24.05.2007 København, Denmark, Forum 25.05.2007 Stockholm, Sweden, Stockholm Globe Arena 27.05.2007 Hamburg, Germany, Color Line Arena 28.05.2007 Landgraaf, Netherlands, Megaland, Pinkpop Festival - Mainstage 30.05.2007 Paris, France, Bercy 01.06.2007 Nürburg, Germany, Nürburgring, Rock am Ring - Center Stage 02.06.2007 Nürnberg, Germany, Volkspark Dutzendteich, Rock im Park 08.06.2007 Lisboa, Portugal, Passeio Marítimo de Algés, Oeiras Alive! 09.06.2007 Castle Donington, England, Donington Park, Download Festival 11.06.2007 Zürich, Switzerland, Hallenstadion 12.06.2007 Praha, Czech Republic, Sazka Arena 13.06.2007 Chorzów, Poland, Stadion Śląski - Opening for Pearl Jam 15.06.2007 Venezia, Italy, Parco San Giuliano di Mestre, Heineken Jammin' Festival 16.06.2007 Nickelsdorf, Austria, Pannonia Fields II, NovaRock Festival - Blue Stage 08.09.2007 Las Vegas, NV, Summer Stage @ Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas 08.12.2007 Universal City, CA, Gibson Amphitheatre, KROQ Almost Acoustic X-Mas 05.06.2008 Skive, Denmark, Strandtangen v/Skive Lystbådehavn, Skive Beach Party 07.06.2008 Lisboa, Portugal, Parque da Bela Vista, Rock In Rio 07.06.2008 Madrid, Spain, La Cubierta de Leganés, Festimad Sur 10.06.2008 Vilnius, Lithuania, Siemens Arena 11.06.2008 Rīga, Latvia, Arena Riga 13.06.2008 Seinäjoki, Finland, Törnävä Festival Park, Provinssirock Festival 17.06.2008 Brno, Czech Republic, Velodrom 18.06.2008 Graz, Austria, Stadthalle 20.06.2008 Venezia, Italy, Parco San Giuliano di Mestre, Heineken Jammin' Festival 21.06.2008 München, Germany, Reitstadion Riem 22.06.2008 Dublin, Ireland, RDS Arena 24.06.2008 Mannheim, Germany, SAP Arena 25.06.2008 Athens, Greece, Terra Vibe Park 27.06.2008 Berlin, Germany, Waldbühne 28.06.2008 Düsseldorf, Germany, LTU Arena None of the 09 shows that weren't posted, I don't see us getting. No idea why, but LP is weird with these DSP's. Pearl Jam and Metallica can sell those shows but LP decides not to. Weird. No Russia 07 is my guess. WTF @ us getting MK but not Knebworth

Now taking bets on the country, and/or city the first show of 2010 will take place in. Meteora's first show was in Milan, Italy MTM's first show was in Berlin, Germany New album's first show? Good question Doubt they'll start in the USA this time...would say either England, Germany or France.

Brad played part of Pushing Me Away on guitar during In The End many many times from 2007-2009 and in 2004 as well.

Added Istanbul. Gotta have that Aussie show with the broken arm

Example list/format of how to download the new DSP's (Digital Souvenir Packages) that LP will be offering. People pick one show each, purchase them and upload them, and then post link here, where it will be updated on the LPLive homepage as we slowly get every show. Do you think that might have something to do with them replacing We Made It with Cure For The Itch in 2 sets (nothing in the 3rd) instead of A Place For My Head?
-
I think the iPod Touch / iPhone is a piece of shit as well, lol. Bought an iPod Touch and returned it within 1 day, I hated it.
-
Yeah I agree with that, but what in the world was up with 2007? They dropped QWERTY, well I guess it's easy to drop a song...but I mean they did a lot of changes in 2007. On the European Tour, they swapped the setlist randomly between two shows. 16. What I've Done ------------------------------ 17. The Little Things Give You Away 18. Bleed It Out 19. Faint 16. Bleed It Out ------------------------------ 17. The Little Things Give You Away 18. What I've Done 19. Faint http://www.lplive.net/shows/20070825.php Camden had that REALLY fucked up setlist.... http://www.lplive.net/shows/20070829.php Then Holmdel had that new "Set D". I know it's hard, but it can be done. They've swapped in the middle of a tour with rotating setlists, lol.

I do. Chester in the studio for months writing slower songs for Out Of Ashes? Finishing all of the other songs? Mixing/mastering the record? He's said it was finished like 3 times but he ALSO said about 3 times that they wanted to do more work on it. Mike is a significant writer, but everyone in the band writes music. Ok first, he's not in the studio only when he's needed. Watch the Minutes To Midnight DVD. If you remember, each member took home a hard drive where they could make "seeds". Everyone made a lot of seeds and then it was all voted upon. I have a hard time believing that Chester, a guy that plays regular guitar, acoustic guitar, and piano, wrote no seeds. Next, you can SEE him in the studio when other people are working on songs. There's a TON of reasons why Chester would be in the studio, but just because you saw on the Minutes To Midnight DVD where he left after doing vocals for No More Sorrow doesn't mean he's NEVER in the studio unless he's doing vocal parts. Wrong wrong wrong. Even on the Meteora DVD you saw he's in there just as much as the others. Next, your ENTIRE LPU 9 CD argument is flawed completely. Chester was only on 3 of 9 demos? Correct, Chester was only on the 3 demos they CHOSE. Like Mike said, demos change life throughout the entire album writing process. Also a quote he said that could be applied here is how he made a point about rapping being on the next album. There could be 100 demos and rapping is on 10 and if those 10 get chosen, that's what we hear. On the LPU 9 CD, Chester most certainly recorded more parts than we hear. I'm SURE there are Faint demos out there where he's screaming/singing. We have a Figure.09 demo of almost entirely Chester and we have a Faint demo of almost entirely Mike. You could go on for days about this. It's simply the fact that what they chose had no Chester. Chester sang on The Little Things Give You Away, he sang on No Roads Left, etc, we just didn't get those demos. Of course Hybrid Theory was mostly made by the other guys LOL, Chester came in VERY late. However, I'm sure he helped out on a good portion of stuff as well as stuff like And One, etc. Chester isn't some robot that Mike flips the switch on and says SING HERE or something. Lastly, I don't think there is any way for us to measure how many non-vocal contributions he's made. Maybe he made a lot and the demos got cut, maybe not. Maybe he made a lot on existing songs and they were changed, maybe not. Who really knows besides the band? We do know, yeah, that he did the Somewhere I Belong acoustic guitar intro that was reversed and we do know the Shadow Of The Day piano part. We learned about the Shadow thing like...literally less than a few months ago. Who knows what else he did on Hybrid Theory, Meteora or Minutes To Midnight that we don't know about. He could've written the bridge piano on Valentine's Day or something, we really just don't know so therefore I don't think it's appropriate to measure it. A third of lyrics? I find that interesting because in the Meteora and Minutes To Midnight DVD he sure makes it seem like he writes a LOT more than just a third. Maybe half? Not really sure because I don't know more about the band writing music. Your last few sentences make me think you're somehow biased against the guy. He does a lot of writing I'm sure. The others write the instrumentals and he helps and then he comes in and does vocals. The whole thing you said about 5 members could write an album and call him in at the end to do vocals and noone would know the difference - you almost could apply that to any member of the band with an exception of Mike. This I do agree with. Chester not being in LA though when they are doing the record is really interesting to me. Maybe he stays for a few months to record and is away from home for that period of time or something. Was he living in Arizona during the Minutes To Midnight sessions?

First, who cares if it's useless? You also said you don't think LP would go sightseeing here, lol. Mike has visited before, I don't see why they wouldn't check in on fansites every now and then. Mike browses all around the web. He's linked to us before on several occasions (Ryu interview; "Plaster" demo, etc) and knew about us posting "She Couldn't". Don't play what I like? lol, I never said LP plays songs I don't like. If you can find something somewhere saying that, I'd like to see it. I fully enjoy every song of LP's setlist and have a great time every single show. Of course I can't control what they do live, but I said it would be NICE to hear something DIFFERENT. I've heard my favorite song from each album performed live multiple times, I love all the shows, but I'd like them to switch it up a bit. Who in the hell cares if new fans don't like what Hybrid Theory or Meteora sound like? Just listen to the newer stuff? LP plays selections of BOTH live. They play New Divide and new material, and they play cuts from the older albums. Note how Mike used to dedicate Papercut (and even No More Sorrow once, but I think he did that because he forgot the setlist, lol) to the hardcore fans that've been with them for a while. No one is crying. I've seen maybe 2 or 3 people say it's bad they won't play a HTEP song live. I find it pretty odd, actually, but that's just me. We're saying we'd like to see 2-3 different songs in the setlist and that is an absolutely valid point if you look at the broad scope of things. You know many bands that don't play their older songs? Could you list a few for me? Like I said earlier, I've seen over 50 bands live this year and every single one of them BESIDES the bands that have 1 album out (a lot of opening bands) they play older songs. Sick Puppies, Shinedown, 3 Doors Down, Three Days Grace, Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, Chevelle, U2, everyone. Hell even fucking Underoath did and I'm not a fan of them, lol. Your last few sentences make me realize you aren't understanding everything. First - I'm sure they do get sick of older songs they wrote 10 years ago. But I'm also sure they DON'T get sick of those songs. Reading My Eyes was brought out. A Place For My Head was written 10 years ago and they played that one. I could go on and on with examples. Mike brought out Dedicated, Step Up and High Voltage over Points. Next - sick of the same songs each night? EXACTLY my point. Wouldn't you get sick of playing Somewhere I Belong, Lying From You, Breaking The Habit, Faint, One Step Closer, In The End, Crawling, Numb, What I've Done, No More Sorrow and Given Up at every single show for years? I find it VERY interesting they don't get sick of playing THOSE songs but are supposedly sick of songs they haven't touched in many years - Figure.09, Forgotten, By Myself, Hit The Floor, Easier To Run, Nobody's Listening, And One, and Carousel. Of COURSE I am VERY happy with the live show, why the fuck else would I drop thousands of dollars and go halfway across the fucking planet to see them? You obviously don't understand the points we are trying to make.
-
Not really interested in a game and I hated the iPod Touch when I had it...prefer the regular iPod soooo much more, but a new song sounds cool. Need info on it though. 3/4 expecting it to be MMM Cookies-related or a 45 second instrumental.
-
That's not his point; you saw through his point, lol
-
LPU tour would be cool but I'd rather them play all over the world, maybe places they've never been before, with a new stage design, new production, new setlists (w/older songs lmao), new intros/outros/remixes...etc. I mean yes, if I went to the first show of 2010 and they didn't play... hmm.. how about Breaking The Habit, I'd be like.. "HOLY SHIT LP didn't play BTH", but I'd eventually you know, get over it. I'm sure that's how the What I've Done thing in Mansfield was, and then Papercut in 2008. Hell, they could rotate singles instead of rotating album tracks. Now that'd be a cool idea. I just think there's more than singles. Singles are radio friendly, yes, but some of their best studio work comes in the other songs.
-
They didn't play What I've Done on the first show of Projekt Revolution 2008 in Mansfield. So what? Cornell and Busta came out on songs...LP played lots of other singles...it was still a great show. They can drop 1-2 singles from each album and still put on one hell of a show. They have so many singles now that they really can drop some and still blow people away with the others. Glad we see eye to eye on the 2-3 songs thing now, lol. EDIT: LP played 167 shows in 2001. I have NO idea where the 300-something number came from.
-
I can't even get into the problems I had on Projekt Revolution 2008, LOL. I don't know if anyone else has this problem but for me it really does get to the point where I know so many LP setlists that when I'm at the show, I have no idea what's next, haha. I just still can't believe they went from playing Reading My Eyes, A Place For My Head, and Valentine's Day in Europe to completely dropping all 3 in the US. Those were the only 3 songs that hadn't seen any action on Projekt Revolution 2007, lmao (Pushing I guess but it was keyboard in 07).
