  1. Rob Cavallo? He produced Green Day's Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod, Shenanigans and American Idiot (and My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade and Paramore's Brand New Eyes). That makes him awesome

If it is that Rob Cavallo, then I'm very excited. Rob has worked on some awesome stuff and a musical mind should run a music group.

  2. To everyone saying the setlist sucked. Just shut up. Jesus christ. You weren't there. There's a line between having an opinion nd having no idea wtf you are talking about. I honestly didn't miss crawling sib etc till the end of the show. Why? The new songs distracted me from realizing it. The band seemed happy about playing new songs. Wretches was fucking insane live. Hell even brad was cracking a smile during iredesent nd catalyst. I met so many new and old lplive members. I even got to meet brad mike and chester briefly after the show. I got my moneys worth.

I didn't even realize they didn't play Crawling until I just read it. I thought the setlist was excellent. Faint, No More Sorrow, Given Up and Wretches And Kings back to back to back was so awesome and so heavy. No More Sorrow into Given Up especially was fucking amazing. Numb into Iridescent was excellent as well. I always expect the transition to go into Pushing Me Away and I was pleasantly surprised and the band seemed loaded with energy. Even songs you could say are "played out" were energetic. Plus, the interaction I had with Chester was my favorite, hands down. I've gone to a few M&Gs, but seeing them right after they played was just so much better. Chester looked psyched and was closer than you'll ever get at a M&G (Not that I'm trying to knock them, I'm just using it as comparison).

I also have to say that I thought the sound was excellent. I was unfortunately not in the room during New Divide (ran slightly behind) but it sounded so well mixed even outside. I could clearly hear The Radiance once I got off the escalator. I probably shouldn't have stayed right under the PA for my ear's sake, but I could hear some really awesome nuances during the more "mellow" songs (and didn't have much room to move anyway). I'm really excited to hear the DSP.

So much for being too tired to comment.

  3. Anyone got some photos. Looks like they got a heap of new gear on stage. Me want to look :)

Also I love Mikes new Piano riser thing in the center. looks a lot better then just sitting where he normally is.

I second the request for pics. I was off to the side and there was some great views of the band, but none of the new gear. I was excited to see some of the new stuff (I didn't see the MPC during Wretches until I watched the video).

Here's another pic from where I was standing. Not excellent, but still kinda cool.

  4. Can't say much because I'm too tired to do anything, except I got a hug from Chester and it was awesome (Thank you so much for climbing on the road case for the people upstairs). Fucking awesome show.

Here's a shitty pic of the setlist.

  5. Seconded, but obviously (and unfortunately), old soft songs from LP fit ATS songs much more than their heavy songs....

Depends on how the setlist is structured. If they played "When They Come for Me" or "Wretches and Kings", I could see that fitting with the heavier tracks from Meteora.

They whole thing with nobody likes Numb brings the lulz. I think people might not want to hear to hear it live anymore. Almost every time I've seen LP, they've played Breaking the Habit and Pushing Me Away the exact same way. I don't want to hear it anymore. That doesn't mean I don't like the songs anymore, though.

  6. from someone who studies their sounds for their albums, Wrestches n Kings, deff puts a whole synth / drum machine / fort minor vibe to it and im pretty sure after watching the new lptv, that's majority of what we'll here. ever since that lil gismo mike used in new divide live for the intro and breaking the habit demo, i had a feeling this is what it'll maybe come too, after hearing them talking about it in a few videos. other than that...this could the "my" most favorite album. Im a sucker for new robotic tunes.

I'm not sure what "lil gismo" you're referring to, but the keyboard used on New Divide Live is the Virus TI, which wasn't developed until 2005. In one of the LPTVs, they are using the Virus TI Snow, which wasn't developed until 2008. So the sounds you hear on the demo of Breaking the Habit weren't created the same way. The band is actually mentioned alongside Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode on the manufacture's website. Not bad company.

Maybe this sounds like a pointless post, but I think that keyboard in particular has some very unique sounds. Depeche Mode took it on tour in 2009 and even some of the oldest songs had new elements with it. It seems like some solid gear, very cool stuff.

  7. I find it really hard to base anything off these reviews. No offense to those who have provided info, but I feel like an album needs to be listened to more than once to get an accurate review. Also, if these people aren't able to keep their notes, how accurate are memories of a song you heard once?

To be fair, I don't feel much better about any "professional" reviews though (for the most part). Every publication tends to be biased towards some genre.

  8. I think you read all that symbolic stuff into it. It might be symbolic, but I doubt it's allegorical to the band. But hey, who knows.

That's entirely possible, it just seems very prevalent when I watch it. I wonder if anyone else gets that vibe. With that, I'm getting anxious about waiting. I wish I could get a idea of the whole album and might be projecting it onto the video. I also just think too much and they've inadvertently provided a way to cater to that.

I'm interested in hearing some other interpretations.

  9. Does the part when Mike hold up his one finger creep anyone else out? Maybe I'll sound crazy, but that and when he reaches his hand out seems symbolic, like almost amidst all this chaos, he's saying "hold on". Chester in the water makes me think it's like the "old" Linkin Park is disappearing, as he submerges deeper and gets harder to see. Same with Mike getting hit with the baton and the jagged movements. Maybe it serves as representation of the band and the fans with this new album, and the fear of commercial suicide? Or maybe I'm looking into it WAY too much, but these things kind of stuck out for me.

I think this trumps anything that MTM spawned, IMO. I don't like the radio edit though, nor Mike singing all of the parts, and Phoenix seems really over-exaggerated (making up for New Divide? lol). Other than that, I've been watching it a lot and really enjoying it.

  10. It's cool that they're releasing so many of the LP featuring You winners. This makes 7 now I think.

    - the winner

    - the two from the website/iphone app

    - these 4 remixes

Did anyone ever get those ones from the website working? I tried a few times with no luck.

  11. The German iTunes list the EP's release date as August 27th and features 4 remixes from the "Linkin Park featuring You" contest.

    iTunes Store Link Here

    Track Listing:

    01 The Catalyst

02 The Catalyst ("Bobby Bloomfield" DIOYY? Remix)

03 The Catalyst (King Fantastic Remix)

04 The Catalyst (feat. DJ Endorphin)

05 The Catalyst (feat. Cale Pellick)

  12. Yeah definitely, if it's a 90min+ show like they claim the encore could probably look like this.

    1. What I've Done (Ambo Intro)

    2. Faint

    3. Numb

    4. In The End

    5. Leave Out All The Rest

    6. Breaking the Habit

    7. Bleed It Out

    8. New Divide

    9. One Step Closer

Not necessarily in that order but if it was an album only show I feel like these are the songs that would be played in the encore.

That'd be a hell of a show, but I don't think they've played a show with playing Crawling.

  13. Pretend to Be is really starting to grow on me, and considering there was an emphasis on the LPUX for the pre-sale, it'd be kinda cool if they played that. Of course, that's never going to happen. Wishful thinking though.

  14. Bands always do that. I think that what it is is that they put the sticker on there for their initial plan for single releases. Though it is probably subject to change.

There's truth to that, but I think that there must be some basis for why those songs were placed on the cover and that's gotta be commercial appeal.

  15. Looking at the setlists from the first few shows for MTM, the band only played 4 MTM songs (WID, Given Up, No More Sorrow and Bleed it Out). There's more hype about this album, so maybe it'll get bumped up a bit. My guesses are The Cataylst, Ireidescent & Waiting for the End, considering the sticker on the album.

I don't understand the point of placing the names of random songs yet though.
