  1. I present to you... Tracklist 01. The Game You Can't Win 02. Bridges Under Water 03. Bitter Pill 04. Sick Nationalistic 05. NYC Blackout 06. Hyperballard (Bjork Cover) 07. This Is My Ruin 08. Again That's a quick tracklisting I've thrown up. Literlly I've had this minutes and I'm about to head out. But this is awesome. The recording is very high in gain, but it's listenable and probably the only TRF live recording we'll get. Huge thanks to Benjamin for it!!!!!!
  2. Exciting update! I've just heard from Benjamin, the lead singer of TRF. First I'll get the not so exciting out the way: The "Little One/Big Gun" track is an early version of This is my ruin, so nothing we're missing. I had suspected this as the two descriptions of this track were similar, but different enough to suspect different tracks. The Benjamin doesn't know anything about the train demo CD I remember, says it's either something figment from the past or was done without his knowledge (both are possible). He says this about NYC radio edit As far as I know, the radio edit of NYC Blackout has been lost to the sands of time, but I'll do a bit of checking around to see if any of the other guys have it. If not, you're not missing out on to much. The edit was really just cutting the song off after the big verse and before the big outro, so it dropped down to one guitar and vocal, as does the original version, when I sang: "Think it's time I find a hiding place/Think it's time I finally slip away…" and ended on the word away. No band coming back in. No build up to the big payoff. Far inferior version, in my humble opinion, but nonetheless, I will try and track it down, and if I can, it's yours. - If he sends it I'll post it. He encouranges our continued sharing! Now for the most exciting - I asked about getting a live recording... I'll let you read this in Benjamin's own words. "As it happens, a few years back, Joel sent all of us a video he had unearthed of a show we played very shortly after Demonstrate was recorded. It's not the greets audio quality and we were not at the height of our live prowess as we'd just come out of the studio and hadn't been playing out for a while, but it does include a cover version of the song "Hyperballad" by Bjork that was always a live favorite of mine, as well as most of the songs on Demonstrate. I'll upload it to youtube in the next few days and send you a link so you can share away." So we should soon have the first and likely only gig recording of TRF very shortly... I'll post as soon as I get a link! Benjamin is working on a new solo album and he plans on releasing it later this year and he's said he'll share some music with me if I'm interested so I think it would be cool to keep an ear out...
  3. The 1.2 package he has up has the 3 sampler tracks in its own folder
  4. They're close... very close but they are different (closer than I remember but heck the fans really debated over which version they preferred). Load up the two versions of Bitter Pill and go to the 44 second mark on both. As the chorus ends and the new verse begins listen to the little guitar that accents at the 47 seconds. In the original version it just does one accent a pause then a muted version of the accent. In the demonstrate version the mix hides partially the first accent and then the second one is louder and finishes with some feedback. Put some headphones on and listen to the verses, the vocals on the demonstrate version have more reverb. There are lots of little differences throughout though most of them are just down to the remaster. There are extra guitar parts flecked throughout. I think Again is purely a remaster - with the levels played with. Not 100% sure but I'm not noticing any major differences. The volume differences of the copies you have do make it harder - but I promise they are different
  5. They should be different. Will check later but their isn't huge differences. They were remastered for demonstrate and a new guitar was added for bitter pill. Really only for completists.
  6. I'll rip the CD tonight then you can throw them in your ZIP. Yeah I would love to hear a live show as I never got to hear them live. He's not responded yet, but seems Jim's website has gone awol and he was the one who gave the LPA zip. I'll ask him about it - to my understanding they're just recording sessions with album name concept ideas. ------------- CD RIP - 3 Track TRF Promo
  7. The band practice track should be fixed now. The filename had an ! in it, for some reason lplive's forum didn't like this. I don't know if they are... I'm not sure if I still have the original mp3 files, but I do have them burned on an audio CD. They're good quality - bitter pill is the easiest to tell. Also I emailed the Lead singer Ben today! Mentioned the two tracks I'm missing and also asked are there any live shows that were ever recorded...
  8. No worries Your zip link wasn't working for me, so I couldn't check. Just knew they were not in the LPA release: <h3></h3> Does your zip have the demos of Bitter Pill & Again in?
  9. I can confirm that the studio version of this exists. I do have it in my collection; however I am not at liberty to release it and if I did it would kick me very quickly. It's not the best track tbh
  10. So finally had chance to do some scans (also found my demo CD from the band) and also 3 unreleased tracks that I believe are missing from the current online releases: TRACKS TO DOWNLOAD Very Early Band Demo Out Out - This track is from the same time as Gage Park. It appeared on their original band website, prior to the MSR connection. Gage Park got put on Right, this track on the other hand was ignored, overlooked or something. It's not great but it's the beginning of the band. Missing Right Tracks 17 - Coming Up Drum & Bass - Yes this track really is this short. Look to the description later down in the right section to explain why. 18 - Driving Salinas (First Ever Practice) - Live recording of the first time the band played as a 5 piece. Nice to have. SCANS TO DOWNLOAD Left Cover - JPG Tracklisting document Page 1 - JPG Tracklisting document Page 2 - JPG Right Cover - JPG Note - JPG Eric's Mom Tracklisting document - HTML Demonstrate Cover - JPG Cover (inside) - JPG Cover (signed) - JPG - This is the cover to the demo CD the band gave me when I ordered a EP while in Ethiopia. It has 3 tracks 16:9, Break Out & Last Dance - all sound the same as the ones on Left & Right. Back (inside) - JPG Back (outer) - JPG Fan Made Promo CD Promo CD - A friend who was considered one of the biggest fans of the band made these and gave them out. She ran the .co.uk fansite and she was entitled to many of the bands demo CDs including the one that I vaugly remember that used a train passing in a transition. Also she has the radio edit of NYC Blackout. She's not in the UK (she seems to be off traveling most the time!) but when she's about I'll FB her these thread and see if she can help! The tracklisting off this demo CD is the Bitter Pill (demo version), Driving Silanas (same as on Left), Again (demo version) - these were off the official website. Weirdly I indirectly lead to the release of the Bitter Pill (demo), it was something like the band had put up 2 tracks and then announced it would put up the third but at the last minute pulled it for the idea of the Rosewood Fall EP (which would have the track listing Again, Driving Silanas, Bitter Pill, Last Dance). However the band had already uploaded the track in prep to release it, I guessed the URL. I told the band how awesome the track was and that they should probably changed the URL. shortly after they added a new news post saying that they were going to scrap the EP and work towards a new one called Demonstrate, while releasing Bitter Pill (demo) to keep the fans happy.
  11. Some of the tracks are mastered. But not as one cd, some tracks are incomplete (literally the band lost half the track!) others are rough lives, and most from lossy sources. The artwork for 'right' is literally iTunes track listing. Lots of people who paid for right didn't get it as time was so short and the band was having to move on. I dont personally know anyone else who has an original right. The explanation of what each track was for right was a online HTML file called 'ericsmom.htm' that I have backed up. Left had a logo design and the explanations printed out in a nice font. Both CDs are just cd-rs. Can do scans of all, including my signed copy if I can find it.
  12. Hey guys, Mark pointed me over to this thread. You'll have to give me a while to find things, busy week with a funeral over the weekend. If I go quiet pm me, I have a lot on. Most the stuff that I have is mentioned in the post that mark links to. Tell me what you want and I'll try to provide. I have found right since then. Remember that Stereo (left & right) were never mastered or anything like that. It was a way of the band getting out the music they made after they realised that the band was going to have to stop. I do know the reason as to why but it's not my place to discuss. I do not have the tracks NYC Blackout Radio Edit & Little One / Little One Big Gun - I think two band members have promised NYC Blackout edit, and both were never able to provide. Also an old friend had quite a few demos from the band that included samples of a train being a transitioning tracks at one point. I got played it down a phone years ago! I have a few rarities from the band, like a demo CD they sent to me while I was out in ethiopia that had 3 (at the time) unreleased tracks plus a cover of demonstrate all signed by the band. Happy to provide scans etc.
  13. Really not liking the changes to SotD or No Roads Left. The beauty in NRL is the build up and this just seems to make the song feel sped up with a tacky drum covering it. It's pretty much a copy and paste of the outro drums over a third of the song. Why do this? It was the best thing to come out of the M2M era. M2M in my eyes was LP's worst release, I listen to Collision Course more than M2M. LP had to find their musical feet and this was the stumble as they did. Later releases have been much better and previous are... well you know... SotD was never my favourite but the synth adds a new cheapness to the song in my eyes. It honestly feels like someone is playing along on a cheap casio kids keyboard to the CD. As for the 'itunes mastering'; I'd love to know if this is actually a band thing or if most of it is putting the songs through one of those 3D song improvment apps. That's what it sounds like, the only difference is that some of the levels of instruments have obviously been played with. Not sold, but it works on some and not on others. The copy of Crystal Method's POA remix sounds better than the LPU2 release. Intruiged to see if people notice any other changes.
  14. think you'll find my 'epic' post questioning the new lpu... (epic not from my opinion)
  15. That's a long story - mainly revolving close to the Fort Minor time of things... Me and a few others got close to wearing shirts that said 'Don't worry Mike we're not Bec'. Bec's just wonderfully vocal, and Mike n her made up now Bec's also done lots (officially) for MFR & stuff like that. So she's a good egg and knows what she's talking about!
  16. I really hope you guys do, cause at the moment it will come to the end of my membership and I won't renew. Which I will actually be very dissapointed in doing as it will feel like the end of an era for me. It concerns me that you've yet to sooth any international fans - but understand wanting to do the big launch before the album release.
  17. Wow that's awesome. What london date you going to? I'm going to the second show. Still very intruiged about the new album. Happy that I'm not the only one feeling like we're losing something that was special. I've been very lucky with m&g's in the past, they used to be first come first serve though. Also does anyone else feel like this 'Decade of LPU' CD is going to just be a rehash of 'Sounds of the Underground'?
  18. Thanks for the beer - could do with one at the minute! lol. It's not going to be cheap for me either . Going to one LP show. Tickets worked out as £90 for two. Then a train trip to london will work out as £37 each. If we get merch or anything to eat... it could easily setus back up to £200 ($300). That's 2 people going to see LP once. Heck the LPU gave us free tickets multiple times back in 2003. Least this year I won't have to worry about customs puting tax on my lpu package... unless I order an LPU CD :/
  19. Adam - can I just get this straight. So the price has doubled. The package (which of some of us did actually like, it was the only reason to renew when the band wasn't touring) has gone. Stuff like the LPU CD you have to pay for now to get a copy. You get a download of tracks that a lot of us have already got? Presales - but that won't be useful if the band is not touring in someone's area. And haven't you noticed that ticket prices are doubled aswell since last tour? Fans can't afford them! M&Greets have declined in how they were. My last M&G experience (the one at MK Bowl), as previously mentioned, I ended up having to organise the LPUers along with two other senior members. Then the band flat out ignored most of us as they were more intersted in two fans who paid £1000 to MFR for their place. Soon after that it was announced that only one band member would attend m&g. So why the *expletive* has the price doubled? That has yet to be explained. Yeah you might be working on cool stuff, but is that stuff now worth the huge amount extra that's placed on the price? If so then you should really think of how you've advertised this change as you might need to put some of those incentives down to actually show this year is going to be better. 'Coming soon' doesn't explain the price hike. Do these cool things actually apply for international people? Or should anyone not US based just give up with the LPU now? In the end I care a lot about the LPU, I was a mod, I was on the support staff, I was on the street team when there were only a few of us in the UK. I've spent hours and hours working on and with the LPU and promoting the band in general. I never got paid - and rarely got noticed. So I do care a lot - and do feel that from what's being said that you are now just making everything more expensive. This will promote piracy and the cool things that you make will be replicated if digital, heck as seen it's taken a certain russian site only a few hours to get the 'exclusive' promo track up. The LPU used to be about not making a profit and also family and friend interaction at shows. Parents used to buy packages for their kids and it was great to interact at shows. At $60 that's not going to happen, and while the shirt might be sneered at by some it was a great distinguisher at shows. The reason people stopped using the LPU site is that it provided very little in the way of anything different. A messageboard that got so bogged down due to lack of support from admin (I was a mod on it so I know that this was true), a load of social media features that people weren't interested in as they have twitter and facebook. A chatroom that couldn't be controlled. Some videos that were updated once in a blue moon and in most cases were only verging on the side of interesting. How about exclusive articles, live webcam chats with the band - not just user-generated content. This is from someone who has been there since almost the beginning (I just cliped the end of 1.0), back when you could just log into AIM and chat with Jess. So far I've yet to see anything that justifies a $60 price tag for a year membership. Many of my old LPU buddies plan not to renew so far. If there is this much negative response from fans, something has gone wrong on the admin side. You maybe about to start the most amazing LPU year ever, if that's the case then you needed to keep quiet about it until you could reveal 'the amazing things you have planned. Now it's a case of winning fans back around... and justifying a $60 price tag.
  20. That's a good point the LPU originally was setup to give back to the fans and to not make a profit. Now seems very money hungry....
  21. Wow mark some of those comments just don't compute and you're at serious risk of becoming very hypocritical. Very hypocritical. The show is being used as one of the main pulling points for LPUX. You can't deny that. Think you'll find that spraypaintninkpens was being a bit sarky when he said they're making us pay for it... but to be honest so far nothing has justified the price hike so he was making a flipant remark. Calling him a dumbass is low, and I have come to expect better from you mark, you're a better person than that. As for the 1,000 vinyl, that's because it was over-priced. There has been a recession and the music industy is currently screwing fans over especially live gigs and fanclubs. Gorillaz is another perfect example. Yes a rabid fan may fork over life savings for a vinyl, hell I was tempted till I saw the price. I'm a fan not stupid. So of course people are not buying it, especially when they get a CD with it on which they can actually listen to. I'm seriously considering not renewing, am I 'noob' fan? Being a fan is not about money. I have to pay for my house and plenty of other things before LP. I need to live. The fanclub was BADASS way back in 03, but recently not so sure. The last meet & greet I was at I ended up organising myself with two other members. Then the actual meeting of the band was a bit of a sham. These events don't cost the band anything and generally they're pointless for around 90% of the members. Maybe if they gave free concert tickets out again it would seem more worth while... Yes I see a few who have gone 'I'm paying $60 for the song' there is little to no other reason to give the LPU $60 dollars at this time. Yes you'll get benefits later, but I can pay for it later... It may be a great year for LPU but they've told the public nothing, so it could be the worst year too...
  22. It's jsut taking the mick... I spent almost £100 on tickets to see them ($156) for their upcoming show. That was just 2 tickets. Then this LPU crap? And yes seems crazy people paying $60 for one demo which everyone knows will appear on certain sites very shortly. I used to heavily defend the LPU cds when I helped out with the site... but not when they're pulling stunts like this. They destroyed the LPST, so now time for them to destroy the LPU!
  23. Hang on - I jsut noticed.... Monthly Online LPUX Pass // $10 per month PER MONTH????? WTF! Normal package membership $60... $120 a year for online??? THat better be a mistake.
  24. Sorry to say but $60 for LPU membership is over-priced. I remember the good ol days in 2003 where it really felt worth it. I even was a mod there, as quite a few of you will know, so ended up working on the site, I still paid my membership. After the horrors that were lpu7 and them finally starting to get it right with lpu9... Now it feels like $60 for a CD and shirt. It seems to be only the older fans who are pissed with this price-hike tho. Maybe cause we have all the CDs so we're not excited about having them on mp3 when we've had them for 9 or 10 years... And what the hell, a demo for people who preorder? Are WB/LP that strapped for cash? I don't need to renew until March or something so why should I renew? Seems to be just a way to milking fans for cash. Similar to the ATS special editions... And yes I like the catalyst and I'm very intruiged by the new album so this isn't an anti-ATS rant. This is a long term fan with over 130 official LP CDs (+ skateboards, platinum disc etc) saying the fans need to rebel.
  25. Find it a bit random that you're releasing official material now, even in its destructed form. I've seen the DVD-A about in a few shops recently. So it's not impossible to get. My suggestion is that you just do a tutorial on how to actually rip them. It's not hard and there is free software about that will do it... Also be aware that there are different quality versions of the tracks (normally is on DVD-A's anyway, can't confirm for the reanimation DVD-A as i'm at work). There'll be the 24-bit versions and then a lossy version, both with be in 5.1, then of course there's the stereo copy but obviously it's easy to tell that version apart! 24 bit version is the best quality but the files sizes can be pretty large. Back in the day I think I got the original rips but I wasn't impressed fully with them so did my own from my US copy of the DVD.
