2017.05.19 - Las Vegas, NV - CBS's SPF
JJJ replied to hahninator's topic in Previous Show Discussion
I wonder if the second London date will come, last time I checked the first show hasn't sold out yet. -
Maybe your right and Chester is singing in unison with him there, its hard to tell though, you can see him on the mic but can't tell for sure. I just noticed this "possible" playback, because I have never heard Mike sing a song live this good before, and this is only the second performance of it. I do agree that he sounds a little off/different on some parts vs the studio vocal track, but they could be using a live pre recorded track. On the otherside, they do use live pitch correct too so maybe because of that it sounds this good. It's a good performance anyway.

Im wondering if Mike is singing live on Invisible or playbacking with a pre-recorded live vocal track. First of all props to him, his singing sounds amazing, but to my knowledge he has never sung a song this perfect before. Also in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ux9UGPEA0_Mat around 1:37, when he sings "feel that now", his mic moves away from him but you can still hear it at the same volume as before. Any thoughts?

They added more tickets after the first 20k (I believe?) tickets sold out

I noticed with the videos from the last two shows, Brad is still wearing an ankle/foot brace, like he did with the Warner performance. See this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpT39lwQNKk Anyone know what happened to him? He's been wearing it for a long time now then.

True, the lyrics videos are very nice, I don't get why didn't use that style for the Heavy lyric video. About the song, its okay, nothing more, nothing less. It has the same amount of pop as Heavy (I'd say even more). You can clearly hear that this song is written by pop song writers, which is something I hope for the next album they wont be doing anymore. I really like Heavy right now, but I know LP can make MUCH better 'pop' songs. I was hoping for songs like Primo, Chance of Rain, Pretend to Be, What we dont know etc. Those are amazing, and they are demo's (with Primo being the best demo they have ever released in my opinion. Curious to hear the other songs off the album now.

I think this was a good show to start off the new tour. The band sounded great, vocals were kinda bad on the webcast, but that was due to the bad mixing, after listening to some audience videos I think they sounded great. However I do think the setlist has a weird flow (read: no flow). Not talking about the song choices, but the place of the song, like some of you said before (OSC between BID and COG, Heavy in the encore between numb and papercut??). As for the song choices, I think (I hope) that the headlining set is different. Also, we've seen the band make minor adjustments before to the setlist, I recall in 2010 they changed some order of it for a better closing of the set. Im pretty sure the band will make some tweaks to this set for Europe, maybe not songwise, but a different other. -
This song is awesome! I always thought this song had a great vibe just from hearing the acoustic version that was played at the intimate Warner performance, but hearing this full band performance is just awesome. You can see the crowd enjoys it. Can't wait to hear this song in even better quality.

What about Wastelands? I can see them performing that one and FM (from THP songs). ALITS will be probably be dropped, didn't enjoy it that much live either (too long in my opinion)

Mike's rapping style reminds me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0OdmRtuQew Like some of you already said before the Future/Migos style, personally I dislike it, it isn't Mike's style and he can do better than that. Song is okay, reminds me of We Made It. The chorus is weak though, really 'cheap' sound of the claps, and the lyrics and vocal delivery is very cheesy.
-
Yep thats what I meant, happens every album cycle. I believe even Mike said something about it, that he doesn't want to say whats the album gonna sound like, cause it will differ anyway
-
Seriously, next time LP drops an album they shouldn't say anything about it. Every time it builds up this crazy hype train and almost everyone is let down with the first thing that comes out. When LP says their next album has a harder, "in your face" sound, people expect HT part 2 (this happens with every new LP album) When LP says their next album focusses on lyrics, everyone expects top notch lyrics that even the greatest poets couldn't write. Every album cycle people are disappointed because Mike said something about the album in an interview and they expect a whole album to be like that description. And yes, the lyrics are far from great, but lets just wait on the track and judge how it ends up all together. So far I think the new album definitely sounds good, although very different. I agree with Soul about the lyrics of the guests, I think they are bringing in these artists to add something new to the song, something that is not necessarily 'LP', thats why they are guests on the album.

This, also where does Chester 'teleport' ? You can clearly see him walking downstairs in the shot on 1:42, and then from the camera on stage. -
Sum 41 is the support act for Linkin Park in Amsterdam, just posted on the LP facebook. Pretty cool

YES!! Definitely going!! This is great.

Really disappointed I didn't win, this looks like an awesome event plus its really close to where I live. Luckily we get a live stream, so we get to see some performances I hope. -
I think the best chance is 'RTL Late Night', which is recorded in Amsterdam. This is just my guess, but since all the other big media stations are located in Hilversum, this is the one I came up with. Would be cool though, its a popular show.

Mike on Instagram Summary / Phoenix on 'One More Light'

Im sorry but why? In my opinion his vocal style in that clip (and parts of the song) is very similar to WFTE. Im pretty sure if people heard this vocal clip before the actual song (and any instrumental of it) they'd love it -
I like it, the song has a great relaxed/summer vibe. Hearing this is making me even more pumped for the new album. The new direction the band is going is great IMO.

2017.02.27 - The Late Late Show With James Corden
JJJ replied to RogueSoul's topic in Previous Show Discussion
Is it confirmed that the full band will be playing? Looking forward to a full band performance of Heavy. -
Song is okay, however it doesn't have that LP vibe. Kiiara did a great job on her vocals. Dont know about Chester's vocals, his voice sounds really thin and weak, his voice has been getting 'rasp' for a longer time but its getting more thinner in my opinion. Really looking forward to the album however. I dont mind the 'pop', as long as the songs do have the LP vibe

This performance at the Comedy Jam somehow reminded me of the transformers show in 2009: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THgi-ZZZUvQ He sounds really similar to this performance IMO. Im really excited to see LP play live again. I think they needed this year off from touring, even though we didn't get any (full band) live performances, they made a good choice taking a year off. The guys are getting older, they need the rest. I also think their year off will improve their live shows, and make them more excited to play again.
