Can I ask you something? Why are you referring to Mike and Chester in stead of the 'protagonist'? I don't believe that Mike has been through all this (well.. duhh) and it would make him a very pessimistic person, which he is not.
-
There is also a radio edit of What I've Done. This came out on iTunes the day it released and does not have a half of a second of the outro from Shadow of the Day in it.
-
Normally the tracklist was already out there. Via BMI, a Japanese cd or BestBuy ( I think). It is funny that this year is otherwise.
-
I'd like topics about songs and people giving their own interpretation on them. That would really open worlds to people. To see things in a way you haven't seen it before, in an other light.

I don't think I really have 5 least favorite LP songs. I love all LP songs. But I guess this would be my list if I had to pick
01. By Myself
02. Nobody's Listening
03. The Catalyst
04. Roads Untraveled
05. Waiting For The End
I was never ''big'' into songs like By Myself and Nobody's Listening back in the day, and I rarely (if ever) listen to them nowadays. Not sure what I dislike about them, can't really say. The Catalyst and Waiting For The End were songs that I liked early on, but got very sick of them for some reason. I don't like the lyrics in The Catalyst with the whole ''god save us'' thing going on, I don't like when artists/bands preach religion in music, especially when LP says they never would. Waiting For The End is overplayed and the chorus gets stuck in my head and annoys me. As for Roads Untraveled, I used to like it when it first was released, but it's the only song that I usually skip when listening to Living Things. Just never really stuck with me. It has good lyrics, but the melody is kind of 'meh' to me and I think that style of music doesn't really fit LP that well.
I don't think that Linkin Park is preaching religion. I think they sing from the perspective of people who are in trouble and think that way, not neccessarily trying to stimulate religion.

But they also said that they were doing it this time differently. Not as the final stage anymore but also during writing and recording.

To me UIB didn't sound unusual and experimental, but just unfinished. It didn't feel like a real song, but 3 different ones accidentally mashed together.
A lot of LT felt unfinished to me. STB needed to have the lyrics redone, Victimized was too short. etc etc.
I felt the same with Minutes to Midnight but I got used to it that I didn't payed attention on it. I'm referring to the abrubt endings of Given Up, the unsatisfactory end of Leave Out All the Rest, the end of Hands Held High sounds unfinished and the end of In Between sounds so uninspired. But the songs were good, better than the songs off Living Things. I think the Living Things songs lack the creativity and geniality that A Thousand Suns had.

It is quite a contrast what Mike and what Chester say. Mike is the more careful one with "we don't know where this album is heading for" or something like that. I think he did that in one of his recent interviews. Chester, however, is like yeaaah new album sooon.

Guitar totally sounds like WID.
I can tell everyone right now that it's going to sound ridiculously close to "What I've Done", not that it's a bad thing, but geez.. the song is so similar, especially when you start stripping it down.
That is mostly because What I've Done and A Light that Never Comes share the same chord progression. Try singing What I've Done on top of the piano.

@ThePretender
''rather have the full focus on Linkin Park as that is where Mike truly shines.''
the second option fits dude, lol ''Forget about FM and create new LP stuff all the time''
But it isn't realistic because Chester has his sideprojects. So I didn't picked that one.
-
None of the mentioned options for me, please. I rather have the full focus on Linkin Park as that is where Mike truly shines. But when Chester is busy with one of his sideprojects, Dead by Sunirse, Stone Temple Pilots or maybe something else, Mike could make use of that time to record some Fort Minor material. What I'm curious about is how Fort Minor will sound because I don't think it will sounds like The Rising Tied at all (and it won't be that good).

I remember when he (or someone else in the band) said the album title was T and T, as in two words that start with T.
2006 was a weird year.
I remember people calling the album Trials and Tribulations.

Power ballad isn't a genre.
My thoughts on A Thousand Suns.

When They Come for Me: Rap rock (?), alternative hip hop
Robot Boy: Electronica
Jornada del Muerto: Electronica
Waiting for the End: Alternative rock, electronic rock, electronica. (influences of industrial rock?)

Iridescent: Alternative rock
The Catalyst: Electronic rock, industrial rock (?), rapcore, synth rock
The Messenger: Acoustic rock

Skipees, make a "Imperfections in Linkin Park songs"-list!
On-topic: the album is available for stream in the Netherlands: http://click.e.wmg.com/?qs=de1292d85b656d0...333d696b6a67a41.

What an abstract video. I like Ghost Town Media but they're putting too much CGI in this. I didn't got the plot, I only saw a cyber world (which wasn't a pretty one but that's an aesthetics choice), some faces and a girl.
The making of is on http://dell.com/linkinpark/

Brad is probably face palming right now.

I don't think these are considered working titles for the album, they were just album title ideas. I mean I don't think the project was ever actually known as or referred to as Almanac, for example.
That is true, sir. But I think it is interesting to know these because we know how hard it was for them to pick a title.
Source?
Can't remember. Just some stuff I wrote down during the years. It is possible they're from the Making of dvd.

The making of ONE song called ALTNC is combined going to be longer than the making of an album called Living Things....
-
I don't think they'll play the song ever again during one of their regular shows, I think it's more likely they'll perform it for a TV show/awards or something like that if the song becomes a big hit.
As much as this is a "linkin park song" I think it's better if just Chester, Mike and Aoki do the song, instead of the whole band, figuring out jobs for them that they have something to do and don't look bored.
I'm also curious if Aoki adds the song to his live shows when LP is not available to perform it.
Just give Joe, Rob, Dave and Bradford some nice outfits and let them dance.
-
And that's good, because the verses are solid, if pretty generic. Plus "what don't kill you makes you more strong" is a cringe-worthy line.
I was like "Mike, WHY?!".

That isn't NRG right? It's nice that they return the favor.
