  1. I like it that we got this information and not even through a lpu chat.

We already have other related ideas ("Across The Line" on the LPU9 CD for example) on deck before the next album comes.

    :D

  2. I for one have never stopped loving Linkin Park. Have there been some disappointing releases? Sure, but what band doesn't put out something stupid at some point? The difference is I don't judge things before I hear them. There is no point. Because if you hype something up too much in your head you will be disappointed every time.

That was today's words of wisdom.

Most people feel that way, but there are also a lot of people who are dissapointed after a release because they had wrong of big expectations of a cd. Like Minutes. They need to think more open-minded.

  3. Mike said The Battle was recorded in a studio and crowd was added in later - it wasn't done live. I don't understand why it cuts off so randomly. Celph put a "full version" on one of his releases but it was just him going in, taking the track and extending it afterwards. A full one was never recorded I guess. Noone really knows.

Get Me Gone is about Jeff Blue from Warner.

So Blue, the person who signed Linkin Park to Warner, tried to change Linkin Park?!

  4. Edited and moved :P

Thanks! I couldn't change the topic name xD.

So if we got an album with 12-13 songs...It might push over an hour of music...

I hope at this rate they will be mixing the album by Feb or Mar. :D

And what if they decide to put 9 songs on the album?

Good update, nice to know something is going on. However, the title is misleading. You make it sound like there are 5 songs already shelved and packed and thats not what the blog from MS says... it says they have 5 they are trying to get finished. Big difference.

Go here and tell us what the title says. ^^

  5. Mike always keep us up-to-date with their progress with the new album, and this time he writes about 5 finished songs:

At last count, there were upward of 60 tracks on the "band" hard drive. Obviously, they're in all states of completion (except "finished"). Well, 60 is a big number, and focusing down on all of those to try to get them finished sounded terrifying not to mention silly; a good chunk of those are probably not really our best stuff anyway. So we narrowed down to 20. These 20 aren't all going to make the album, they're just the best songs we've got so far.

Of the 20, we're trying to focus on 5 right now, and get them finished. The work has been going exceptionally well--I think all the guys are more focused than ever. I don't know for sure, but I would bet that the average song length on these is around the 4-5 minute mark; a bit longer format than our usual stuff. We're really enjoying being in the studio right now, trying to be as creative and adventurous as we can, while letting our sense of songwriting, rhythm, and melody guide the way through the chaos.

    Excited? Thoughts?

  6. Like I've been saying, after this lp album, Fort Minor will be back.

I think you are a bit too fast with conclusions. But a second FM album would be great, though I'm glad he's putting LP as top priority.

Members of successful rock bands having side projects or solo careers is nothing new, and it's become even more common as technology has made it easier to record and distribute music. But one conundrum remains: Which ideas go where? And how do you prevent the projects from cannibalizing each other both creatively and commercially?

If anyone knows that situation, it's Chester Bennington, the singer-songwriter of two successful rock outfits: Linkin Park (who plan to have a new LP out next year) and his Dead By Sunrise, which released its long-percolating debut LP earlier this month.

At the Ulalume Music Festival last weekend, Bennington explained how he can tell what goes where. "I can kind of tell like which songs are a little too grungy, a little too punk-driven [for Linkin Park]."

Bennington also said that the collaborative process with Linkin Park helps make the decision as well. "On a song like 'Let Down,' which I felt really strongly about, I really wanted that song not to change. I didn't want to go in and change the words, I didn't want to change any of the vibe, and I knew that would happen a lot taking it to Linkin Park. So it was pretty easy to figure that out."

However, he admitted that the decision is often not quite so simple.

"As time went on it got easier," he said. "I hear a song like 'Condemned' in my head and I know that's probably not going to end up on a Linkin Park record. But now it's getting really difficult, because Linkin Park is going in so many directions it's kind of hard to figure out which songs are which."
