Nope. Still making sure everything's in order with those (which they aren't as of right now), so be patient. Trying to get all of this stuff to you guys asap. Unfortunately, most of it is out of our hands right now.

Before everyone starts getting pissed, let me explain:

There's no possible way to let every LPU member test the game. Believe me, we would LOVE to do this. Apple is VERY VERY VERY strict about this, though. The company who made the game only have a VERY limited number of free game demos they can give out for the entire year. The company who made the game has absolutely no control over it, and neither do we. It's all Apple.

We ARE trying to figure out other things we can do for members outside of LA. There are things in the works and we just want to make sure we're in compliance with Apple on everything. It would NOT be good to piss them off, obviously.

Again, this is a total bummer for 99.999999% of you, but trust me when I say there are other wheels in motion. We do listen to you guys and we are working to make something else happen!!

US only has to do with the the legals involved in an auction like this. Nothing to do with shipping big items. We would have to have our lawyers write up legals for every single country to make it open to everyone. Sucks, I know, but it's the law.

the cardboard cutout/stands are AWESOME. I found them in a box under behind a couch last year. They're like 3 feet tall. So cool.

Right. I'm not mad in any way, lol. From my understanding, it was more of:

 

Exclusive = LPU getting access FIRST

 

versus what it apparently really is:

 

Exclusive = LPU only until it goes out of beta

Mark, you have my position on this whole thing wrong. I'm not saying you're ruining the exclusive. I'm saying it makes no sense to me why you would WANT to invite non-lpu members to join in on an LPU exclusive. I'm not pissed or upset about this. You're right, we didn't say "don't invite non-lpuers to the site." We thought you guys would want to keep this in the community because you're paying for exclusives like this. Again, its really up to the LPU members on what they want to try to keep as exclusive as possible. You guys are the ones paying for this stuff as members of the fan club. I thought that LPL, with all of your really cool exclusives, would "get" this more than anyone.

As I said before, it really doesn't matter to me if you guys invite non-lpuers, but it does kind of suck for the paying members of LPU who like things like this to stay exclusive. I know you guys want to get a buttload of members to join your group thing, but like I said, this is opening to the public this week, and there will be a BIG push on all LP sites and hopefully beyond that as well.

I'm not telling you to stop inviting people. Honestly, I really don't care if you do or not. But from some of the other comments in this thread, it seems like there are a lot of LPU members who wish you wouldn't.

Ok, I don't want this to turn into some huge drama thing, because it's really not that big of a deal. The site will come out of beta this week. Do what you want until then.

Edit: And as I've already said, the invite friends link isn't something we can remove. It's a part of the websites format that is unchangeable.

Understood Adam... But if invites were limited to LPU members only, then why not disable user generated invitations until the site went live?

As for LPU exclusives staying exclusive, that became a thing of the past the first time someone uploaded a rip of the Hybrid Theory EP to the internet in 2001. And then the 2.0 CD a year later. I could go on.

The invite thing isn't something we can enable or disable.

You're absolutely right about those things not being exclusive anymore... but whose fault is that? Certainly not ours. It's up to LPU members to keep things exclusive. We have no control over it. If you guys want to leak things, you'll leak them and we can't stop it. If you want things to remain as exclusive as possible, you'll do everything you can to keep them exclusive.

I'm not trying to lecture you or anything, and I'm not upset about it. But just remember this the next time we do something exclusively for LPU and you guys are pissed that non-lpuers get it. I know Mark and the rest of the LPL staff would have been pissed if we released "She Couldn't" to LPU members, so it wouldn't just be an LPL exclusive. Just sayin...

The site will be live this week. We thought you guys (LPU) would be stoked to have exclusive access to it for a week, but if you want to make it less exclusive for you, that's your decision. Doesn't really affect us, but it's not really fair to the other members who do want this to remain exclusive. You guys are the ones always asking for exclusives and wanting to keep LPU exclusives exclusive to LPU members, so I'm not really sure why you're doing this if that's the case. Ah well.

Glad you guys are enjoying the site. It's been a loooooong time coming, so it's awesome that its been such a success.

I'm having a problem. It said enter "full name" so I entered my full name. Now apparently that's my user name... Why didn't it just recognize my email address and link my accounts together?

You can change your username and personal profile url at any time though.

Click on FANS / MY PAGE / Manage My Page / Profile -- then change your full name to whatever you want. Please note, these are not unique.
