It sound like he was talking about the early stages of the HT tour when they were the opening act for other bands. see how small the stage is here:

    https://lplive.net/shows/2000andearlier/20000815

Also it seems like the 2000 shows don't include Pushing Me Away and Crawling on the setlist (both songs use two guitars)

    https://lplive.net/shows/2000andearlier/20001221

Look like they figure it out how to plug a second guitar at the beginning of the street soldier tour in 2001 judging by the setlist:

Don't quote me on this is just my point of view, maybe Astat can help with this

Yeah this is right. Astat can add technical parts about it for sure. Crawling and PMA required a second guitar which happened literally at the start of this tour in 2001.

does anyone know if there will be this show without the band's comments?

    We'll ask the band.

What a great show and an awesome idea. The commentary was really good and worth doing. A lot more interesting than just uploading an old show, even though we do need the show eventually. Can't believe they forgot And One, ha. First song they wrote with Chester.

  3. It's time to start celebrating Hybrid Theory!

Linkin Park has announced a new live stream to debut a fully unreleased live show from 2001 tomorrow! Adding to that, the band will be reacting live to the show!

"Join LINKIN PARK in celebrating the 20th anniversary of HYBRID THEORY as they react to never before seen LIVE concert footage from 2001. #HybridTheory20 Set a reminder on @youtube to watch on March 24th @ 11am PST"

do you not think this is kind of normal for him? also considering they're on lock down in LA too... Mike's making music all the time and all of the things he was working on the past week were "only" jams/ideas (with the exception of open door)

I am excited to see what he does in the future though... seems like another solo album is on the menu for sure

Doubt that Mike makes new music every single day. Sure, it's close but a demo like this every day? And Open Door going to radio? And will become a single? Seems like a cool, creative way for a new release with all of this music.

  5. You guessed it!

Mike was back with yet another full hour live stream via Instagram on March 22nd for a new beat. Check out the stream below if you missed it.

It sure seems like something is cooking, right? What do you think he is going to do with all of this music?

  6. Well in later LPU years Mike was starting to attribute demos to album years when they were from the album sessions. We all said immediately when Attached came out it would be 2002, not 2003. Almost absolutely nothing was done in 2003 studio wise. Chester wrapped up vocals in January I believe which was like, late as hell anyway. Every Meteora era song would be 2001 or 2002.

  7. We've never caught this - ever - until someone caught it on YouTube and left a comment.

Attached from the LPU 15 CD, labeled as being from 2003, goes back to at least early 2001 and likely 2000. The song was used as the show outro music after One Step Closer on the Street Soldiers Tour in early 2001, at least.

You can hear the song at the end of the videos from Pittsburgh (audience) and Las Vegas (webcast).

Mike pretty much alludes to this on the track by track for the demo, saying, "I think the fewest songs we ever wrote for an album, Hybrid Theory not included, would be like 40 or 50, and the most would be easily 150 or more. Some of that stuff is just unlistenable, like you'd listen to it and just be totally bored, it's just loops of stuff, and other stuff we do revisit from one album, if it falls by the wayside, we might bring it into the next album and start playing with it and see if we can salvage it."

It looks like the song started as a Hybrid Theory era demo and then was brought back in for Meteora, where it was also left unused until the LPU demo release.

  8. Today we remember Chester Bennington on what would have been his 44th birthday.

We miss you Chester and wish you were still here with us! Thank you for your incredible contribution to the world of music.

  9. Today Mike went live on Instagram to check on fans and ask them how things were going. When someone said he should make a beat, Mike obliged and opened a folder titled "Fort Minor sounds". Over the next 50+ minutes he made a brand new beat and gave fans a glimpse into his beat making process.

Check the video out below if you missed it or you'd like to rewatch:

It sucks like all new Mike Shinoda Post Traumatic "songs", better said demos. He should release Underground 20 with demos we want to hear and not these sloppy "songs" created in a few minutes.

    1. Quite a bit of PT material is better than OML or THP LP.
    2. Makes no sense at all for LP's brand/image/appearance to release an LPU CD right now, as has been explained 100 times in this forum in the past year.

  11. Lyrics to start with. Need corrections done:

    Yeah
They tell you that you should quit trying
You were too small and you were too young
They tell you the chance is too slim
The world is too big, and you say "How come?"
I'm ready to light a new fire
Raise a new flag to cross a new sea
And if I'm ever the one in your way
Then put your head down and run right through me

Why keep settling for so much less
Don't take what's given just demand what's next

We're looking for an open door
    Someway we didn't see before
Someway to get out of here
A plot twist that we didn't see coming
We're looking for an open door
    Someway we didn't see before
And when we get out of here
We'll, no, no, no never stop running

There's something like a shadow in the valley colossal
Open up your eyes young one and be watchful
Behind closed door trying to write a new gospel
They are not God, they're not even apostles
I come with the drum drum banging you breathless
Enemies freeze, left bed and defenseless
Straight for the chest of anybody against us
The more that they resist it
The more that they tempt us

Why keep settling for so much less
Don't take what's given just demand what's next

We're looking for an open door
    Someway we didn't see before
Someway to get out of here
A plot twist that we didn't see coming
We're looking for an open door
    Someway we didn't see before
And when we get out of here
We'll take off and never stop running

No, no, we'll never stop running
No, no, we'll never stop running
When we get that open door
No, no, we'll never stop running

So why keep settling for so much less
Don't take what's given just demand what's next

We're looking for an open door
    Someway we didn't see before
Someway to get out of here
A plot twist that we didn't see coming
We're looking for an open door
    Someway we didn't see before

  12. Mike went live on Instagram Live today to discuss how he is quarantining due to the coronavirus as well as to show fans his writing and recording for the song we've seen him recently work on.

The demo track, tentatively titled "Open Door", was sent to fans via Community after Mike finishing mixing it. He wanted everyone to know it's just the demo form of the song that he is sending and wanted fans to share it with those who don't have Community.

During the IG Live, he asked fans what they wanted to hear on the bridge of the song and then recorded and editing a guitar part for it.

Additionally, Mike said he is thankful for the mayor of Los Angeles for taking the coronavirus seriously and enacting quarantine measures. Mike mentioned he's taking it seriously himself as well because both he and his kids have asthmatic symptoms.

While he is quarantined at home, he is working on music (amongst other things) and said that this was the third day he has worked on this song.

Watch the Instagram Live video below courtesy of our friends at LinkinParkBr:

    And here is "Open Door"!

  13. LPU members check your emails as Linkin Park is gearing up to celebrate the 20th year of Hybrid Theory!

The email sent to LPU members reads,

    "LP Street Soldiers,

Please upload by March 16, 2020.

Any questions reach out to lpuhq@lpunderground.com

    - LPU HQ"

Not many fans on LPLive were around in that era, but if you have some material of your own from that era definitely send it over to the band.

  14. Mike texted fans via the Community app on February 26th to ask for help with three new demos he is working on. He wants to know which one you think he should continue working on.

In case you didn't get the message, we have uploaded it to our YouTube page.

So what do you think? Which one sounds the best?

In other news, Mike's security Ed posted a video from Mike's new home studio... with a surprise! In the video we see Matt Harris who we all know from the Post Traumatic Tour. It is Matt's first time being seen with Mike since he moved to Los Angeles from the United Kingdom at the end of the Post Traumatic Tour. In the video, Ed is jamming on guitar with Matt on piano and Mike on drums. You might remember Ed guesting on guitar on the PT Tour in Israel as well.

  15. You might remember Mike, Phoenix, and Joe visiting The Whisky in Los Angeles during December 2019. They were seen at the side of the venue with an arrangement of Mercedes vehicles and took a few promo photos together.

Today, Mercedes-AMG released a nearly three minute video of them driving cars and discussing them. Mike references when he was in Stuttgart, Germany at the Mercedes world headquarters last year, the day he played in Ludwigsburg. He talks about how Mercedes let him help build part of the engine of a car.

An interesting thing to point out... if you recognize the music in the video, you aren't alone! It is "Can't Hurt Me" from the LPU 16 CD.

  16. On Mike's birthday, he met up with his friend Bobby from The Hundreds and after dinner, did a "textcast" around Mike's new Community phone number.

One of the questions asked was, "Will there be a The Hundreds x Linkin Park collaboration?" to which Bobby responded,  "There already was & there will be again in the future." The last collaboration between the two was in 2015 for the "XVLP" series, in which The Hundreds designed an exclusive Hybrid Theory jacket.

While we don't know what could be up their sleeves, we are excited to hear that Linkin Park will again be working with The Hundreds in the future for a merch collaboration.

  17. On his birthday, Mike Shinoda tweeted, "let’s try this. you can now text me at 310.935.0302."

Upon texting the number, fans saw that Mike has set up a new Community.com contact list of fans. He added, "HI THERE! thanks for texting me. this is an autotext to let you know I got your message, everything else will be from me directly. just click the link and you'll be added to my phone" followed by a link to add yourself to his community list.

Upon adding themselves, fan got a follow up text saying "thanks- i added you. i'm planning to experiment with texting people some fun stuff. what should i send?"

And if you were one of the first 1,000 to text him, you got one final series of texts that included "Thank you for being one of the first people to text me! Yes it is me. I'll be occasionally replying to people, and maybe doing some experiments via text. Feel free to tell a friend." Fans then got a selfie from Mike on his birthday followed by one final text - "By the way, you're one of the first 1000 people. So cool"

If you call the number, you will be greeted with this voicemail message from Mike.

EDIT: Mike sent fans a video clip of a new song! He added, "that's a track i'm working on today" / "No name for it yet but we'll see what happens"

Do we think Mike is gearing up to announce something, or is this just a new way to connect with fans and send them information?

Let us know if you hear from Mike!

  18. LP fans will be glad to hear some news regarding one of its members performing live today.

Earlier today, Joe Hahn got back on stage for the second time in 2019. He performed at YOURSUMMER2019 at Paradise City in Incheon, South Korea in a stacked lineup of other artists that included Marshmello, Zedd and others.

You can watch clips of his show today here and here. And finally, a few more clips here.

What's interesting about this set is that it appears Joe performed a LOT more Linkin Park songs than usual... and we really put a big emphasis on A LOT. He usually has the staples like Numb/Encore in the set, but this time he performed a set of mostly all Linkin Park tracks. Some of them, like New Divide are his own remixes of the songs and sound really good.

Here are the Linkin Park songs featured in his set, a whopping twelve:

    The Catalyst (Remix)
    Papercut
    Lying From You
    A Light That Never Comes
What I've Done (Mike Shinoda Remix)
    Points Of Authority
Points Of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer
(just the One Step Closer part of the remix)
    Waiting For The End
    New Divide (Joe Remix)
    Numb
    Bleed It Out
    Faint

And of course, Joe has other music in his set too besides Linkin Park. While we don't know ALL of those, some of these other songs included:

Knockout - Quintino, Derorro, & MAKJ
    I-E-A-I-A-I-O - System Of A Down

Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes

It's good to see Joe out on stage again. He recently performed on July 18, 2019 in Seoul, South Korea at his [Carry On] Pop-Up Photo Exhibition Party with Wegun, Spray, and Intostella, but this was his first big festival show of the year. Of course, we'd enjoy seeing him play more.
