  1. When rumors intensify there must be something going on.
All the rumors about HT20, M20, Papercuts were basically confirmed.
About female singer: I’m ok with it, I get that choice would avoid comparisons with Chester. No hate at all but i strongly hope it’s not Hailey Williams.
About Rob and Joe: I hope they’ll join the other members if the whole thing is true, but I’d be OK with someone taking their place, Rob is a really good drummer but you can replace him, same with Joe, especially live wise, as an art director he’s cool (videos visuals …) as of live shows it’s not impossible to find someone fill in for him. We’ll see

Come on this is not true. Even the studio version is clearly nu metal. Given up, no more sorrow and bleed it out (the 3 heaviest songs on MTM) don't sound like QWERTY at all. MTM has a lot of different genres in it so QWERTY could fit like any other song but the only specific imposed by LP of a MTM song is to not be "Nu metal" so QWERTY clearly fails that requirements. There's too much continuity with the past in QWERTY to fit in an album that wants to break from the past so bad.

I mainly agree on this. Like, even tho it wouldn't stand out like a sore thumb like, say, on OML, I feel QWERTY is more nu metal-ish even in the studio form

  3. I think QWERTY on MTM would have been kinda weird not because it heavy but because it’s nu metal, like, NMS is heavy but it’s a rock song. QWERTY would fit more on a record like THP, out of the non nu metal albums by the band. Certainly not on records like OML or ATS lol. LT maybe, considering there’s Victimized in there, and that record is a blend of “eras”

I know it wouldn't fit AT ALL, but I still think it'd be a fun little thing to hear regardless.

I'd love that too, like, having the "put me out of my fucking miseryyyy" part sung in a pop style, à la Backstreet Boys

That's because those lyrics don't fit with the vibe of Hybrid Theory whatsoever. Hybrid Theory is a Teenage Angst album comparatively. Yes, it would flop, because while Hybrid Theory can be relatable in some ways, relatability isn't always authenticity. And that's not a bad thing! It's just the fact. OML is authentic and down to earth even if it isn't always relatable to you specifically. Or hey! Maybe it does and you just hate the sound. Who knows. Like I said, Mike's been writing the words for Chester for years. He was apart of the writing process with most if not all of the songs on OML too if I'm not mistaken. It's not necessarily different.

Chester only has writing credits on HR and Heavy off OML, yeah. Totally agree on lyrics fitting the vibe of the album sonically, imagine screaming and heavy riffs on OML (song) or a pop leaning NCSM-ish instrumental on Given Up, lol. HT and OML reflect sonically the vibe of their lyrics

So the LPLive community consensus is that lyrics about kids = good and everything else = bad. Got it. What does it have to do with Warner royally fucking up another Linkin Park release?

While we're in the topic of lyrics about family, let's take some time to appreciate this beautiful song by blink-182:

The point is not that, to me the point is that LP wrote really good lyrics in their career (even Mike as a solo artist did that on stuff like OA or Promises I can’t keep), but the OML hate even on the lyrics really bothers me, especially if the “role model” for lyrics is HT where you have some great stuff but even some songs where the lyrical content is as generic as the worst OML track. I hate when there’s this generalization in concepts.

Pretty sure that if HT had the lyrics from OML it would have been a flop.

I prefer an authentic vision from the guys who are actually singing and playing the instruments instead of a random team of people creating a vision for another band.

People literally make memes based on some HT lyrics... like, some of them are good but some others are kinda cringy or kinda generic... Like, to me OML (song) is a lot stronger than most of stuff on HT  lyrically. Invisible is a strong song about being a parent and HR is 100% Chester

Doesnt surprise me that you love UIG, its almost like a prequel to OML.

You dont know what you got until its gone, what doesnt kills you makes you stronger 😂😂😂

Talking about the lyrics ? At least it's not "GIMME BACK WHAT'S MIIIINE" or the generic anti-something lyrics like AFN and GATS.

If you're talking about the sound, UIG sounds more like modernized Meteora/LT than OML dude ;)

True. GATS to me is like THE song from THP. it encapsulates everything this album set out to be and was an effective first single for us fans. Or to put it differently: It is more "visceral" than FM. But yeah, FM was more succesful. I guess we can agree that we are glad that UIG was notchosen over these two :D

I like UIG to be honest, I know I am the black sheep lol. But yeah, GATS is iconic among the fans but was not "GH level LP song".

"QWERTY" was totally unnecessary on this release. It wasn't some unreleased b-side and on no official album. They should have included GATS instead and waited with "QWERTY" for MTM20 where it belongs. I mean, will they exclude it from MTM20 now? It was such a major song during the pre-release phase when everyone thought it might be on the album.

Yeah, kinda weird move. Personally tho, I wouldn't have included GATS on a GH, like, it was nowhere near as succesful as any other song on Papercuts, FM has twice the streams of GATS on Spotify and crossed 150M on YT IIRC.

maybe one day, we will have the answer of why THP completely left out from this compilation. 😭 Final Masquerade deserve to be in PAPERCUTS. I'll swapped it with LOATR

Like, LOATR was massive back in the day, but yeah FM had to be there, since it was quite big at least in alternative radio. Totally omitting an entire album out of "only" 7 records is super weird. Plus, no SOTD is super weird too since it was everywhere on the radio and peaked high on Billboard, like, higher than anything post New Divide...

karma for WB because ditching THP.. 🥹

Yeah like, even if THP is my least fav LP album and the least succesful by the band, leaving the album out of a GH compilation makes no sense, even more in the case of a band with relatively short discography, like LP is not Black Sabbath, make it 21 songs and put FM on it at least

  13. To be honest I am glad I did not purchase a special pricey edition of this release, considering the issues present many of you are talking about. I am super happy this release got us FF, one of my fav LP b-sides to date, and QWERTY on Spotify. As for the rest, I hope the release spreads LP fame among the casuals and potential young new fans. As many here said, this release is not exactly for us diehard fans but for someone who would go “oh wow, this 2006 song called QWERTY  wasn’t on any album and it’s so heavy”
