  1. Time to update this thread again. Found an interesting thing today, it looks like a new collaboration with Iann Dior. It could be just production stuff but considering how the files are named I think Mike will do vocals.
  2. Mike Shinoda will debut his Async Music project on May 27, 2021. From Async Art website: "Async Art is a new art movement built on the blockchain. Create, collect, and trade programmable art: digital paintings split into "Layers", which you can use to affect the overall image. Art that can evolve over time, react to its owners, or follow a stock price is now all possible with programmable art. Launched in February 2020, the platform has seen $7.8M+ in bidding and $2.1M+ in sales volume." You can find Mike's announcement and a preview of his piece here. Mike explained how it works and that he did both art and music: "Those are the layers. Layer owners will get to choose which option is visible; each visual layer is attached to a sound layer. Different drums = different art" "Also, yes. I did all the art (and music)" EDIT: The piece is called "DECASENTRY" and the auction is available here.
  3. Matthew Heafy from Trivium announced the release of his song "In Defiance" for June 18, 2021. Mike produced the track on Twitch as part of his #ShinodaProduceMe initiative, on February 5th and February 9th. About the original song he said: "I got Matt's blessing to get weird with the track too. We're not gonna just make a metal track. We're not gonna make a Trivium track. If you wanted a Trivium track you could just get a Trivium track. You could go to Matt's channel and get that. So I'm gonna take his vocal, and even his guitar, and chop them up into little tiny bits, and run them through a meat grinder, and then we're gonna make a track out of it. I don't even know what we're gonna make. But the track he sent is so... its, like, epic! It's very, like, Matt standing on a mountaintop with a falcon on his wrist, who flies away and collects the bones of enemy clans, enemy warriors." Matthew announced the release date on Instagram, confirming that he'll also release the original version: "This is the “in defiance” OG version - it will be out soon as the @tidemanns_lifestyle and @cyruswatches metal theme song. “In Defiance” produced by Mike Shinoda will be out 6/19!!!" EDIT: The actual release date is June 18, 2021.
  4. We have the first #ShinodaProduceMe track scheduled for June: "Nowhere Else" by Noah Khorey will be released on June 4th! The song was produced by Mike on April 22nd, live on Twitch. Here you can listen to the original demo: Source: Apple Music NZ Thanks to our member martinez.
  5. "Lilith" by "PLEXXAGLASS" was released today! The track was produced by Mike as part of his #ShinodaProduceMe initiative on Twitch, back in March. Announced a week ago, the song premiered yesterday on Hollywood Life, where you can read an interview with PLEXXAGLASS. "Mike is truly such a brilliant artist, and I feel so lucky to be able to say I’ve worked with him. What he brought to this song is everything I could’ve dreamt it would sound like. He really just got what I was trying to do, and it doesn’t always happen like that. 12-year-old Alexxa probably would’ve shat themselves if they knew I’d eventually make a song with Mike freaking Shinoda."
  6. Mike joined REACT for a new video where he surprises some fans who were reacting to Linkin Park's music. He previously did an episode back in 2017 commenting reactions from teenagers, that you can watch here. One of them (who got a gift from Mike!) is also featured in the new episode and had a funny exchange with Mike about the previous video.
  7. Read a new interview by Mike with Rolling Stone. What did you want people watching to take away from the streams? "First and foremost, I wanted to keep the community together. I wanted to create this little nucleus — maybe it’s like a community inside the community — and everybody’s welcome to come in and hang out. The truth is that because of the format and the length of time, most people don’t want to devote that much time. It’s just not for everybody. But I really wanted to do it this way because it felt like, for the average person who doesn’t get to take a look into the makings of songs, they would get that look. For people that just want to be connected, they get that. For people that want to have an opportunity to be heard, I can be making something and they can make suggestions, or say it sucks, or do whatever." When you’re sitting down to work on something for yourself, or for another artist, what is it from the stream time that bleeds into that solo time? "Honestly, the one thing I do worry about is that it’s making me too impatient. In the stream, I streamline everything down to the fastest possible solutions. For example, if I get a vocal in, I have a chain of plugins that I just click and drag onto the vocal. I turn different ones on and off to find the ones that I like the best, I tweak those, and then we’re done. If I was doing it on my own, off stream, I’d think about the vocal and individually select plugins that I think will work well. Everything is much more slow and meticulous when I’m off stream. But in order to keep the stream moving, I do things quickly. When I get off stream, I’m still kind of in this habit of doing things quickly. I have to reset my expectations and reset my brain. Off stream is when you have the opportunity to really explore the space and come up with something unique and unusual." Tell me about creating your latest single “Happy Endings” with Iann Dior and Upsahl. "Me, Sam Ronson, Upsahl, and Pete Nappi wrote “Happy Endings” on a Zoom towards the end of last year. We were joking around about what a crappy year it had been, and the year wasn’t even over. We were just like, “Wow, this has been an epic year.” But it’s all about your attitude, right? Our attitude was not negative and bad. It was just kind of laughing at how you couldn’t stop coming up with examples and so we just channeled that into the song. Eventually, I crossed paths with Iann and got him on the track." What’s the next level of this creative pocket you’re in? "I’m in this phase where I’m developing a whole bunch of different ideas and there’s a lot of spinning plates. I’m just trying to devote the appropriate amount of time to the things that seem like they’re the most interesting and the most fun. I just announced that I’m involved with a company doing music AI. I’ve been working with [Authentic Artists] for months on their project. We’re in beta, still working out kinks and stuff, but the first demo was live the other day, actually on Twitch. The idea is that you’ll see these characters onscreen and you’ll hear them playing music. What people have a hard time wrapping their head around is that the music is being generated in the moment when you are listening to it. So that’s new and that’s different and a huge challenge." 8. Watch this new interview by Mike recorded in April with alternative rock radio DC101, where he talks about his Twitch streams, "Happy Endings", his ideas about music genres and more. Some fans had the chance to join the conversation and ask some questions. He also confirmed that he's working on a lot of different things we'll hear about in the coming times: "These all last few years has been a moment of like research and development, figuring out what I wanna do. I'm involved in a couple of little projects and things that I'm tinkering with and figuring out. It's probably a longer term thing, like... I think over the course of the next few years some of that stuff will start to become real. But yeah, number 1, I'm not just sitting around doing Twitch, and number 2, I'm not just sitting around like making demos and leaving them in my hard drive."
  9. Here's a short interview done by Mike in March with Indonesian magazine HAI. He talks about the funny story Finneas posted on Twitter: "I met Mike Shinoda once and he put his number in my phone but instead of making a new contact for "Mike Shinoda", he somehow managed to change MY OWN name in my phone to Mike Shinoda irrevocably. absolutely nothing I try fixes it" When asked about a collaboration he joked and just said: "I think he's great."
  10. Sunray Magazine posted a tribute article about Chester and two interviews with Jim Louvau and Sean Dowdell. Jim: "Chester and I met in 2000 when we played a show together in Phoenix, Arizona where we are both from. Linkin Park hadn’t released Hybrid Theory yet and we were just a couple dudes in bands at that point. He watched my band’s set that night and really liked what we were doing, I honestly only caught a very short part of their set that night but we kept running into each other at shows that year and we just became friends. I was able to capture him in numerous projects over the years, on and off the stage, and he’s a huge part of where I am today as an artist. After he passed away I wanted to honor him and share work we created together so I put together a photography exhibit that showcased some of what we did over the years. The exhibit may travel to other places at some point when it’s safe to do so." Sean: "He was a great friend and a great father. He really enjoyed spending time with his kids and one of his biggest worries was not having enough time with his children. He loved most people and never liked confrontation. He would give the shirt off of his back to help strangers and always wanted to give back to the world. He was the least selfish person I ever met." 11. The long teased and awaited second collab between Mike Shinoda and AmirSaysNothing is finally coming! After releasing "Clockwatch" last year, AmirSaysNothing talked multiple times about a second track produced by Mike. The song is called "Overstand" and it's the tenth track of his album "Endless Brightside", that will be released on May 7, 2021. "Clockwatch" is also included, as the fourth track. AmirSaysNothing announced release date, artwork, and the full tracklist on Instagram. Pre-order the album on Spotify here.
  12. The song was also released as a NFT yesterday on Nifty Gateway, with all proceeds going to MusiCares. Here's an article from the Grammy website: https://www.grammy.com/musicares/news/wax-wane-way-down-linkin-park-mike-shinoda-nft
  13. Mike Shinoda announced plans to release an instrumental song called "Golden Falcon" on the music platform Audius, with more to come! The track was created yesterday live on Twitch and it will be the first one of new releases. After streaming for over a year, releasing three volumes of "Dropped Frames", a few free downloads and (still) producing songs for other artists, fans and press often asked about releasing more tracks created during his livestreams. Back on October he said: "I've got so much music now from the channel, and I love the idea of the trilogy and I realized that if I keep going in putting these things out like... I don't know, I just... I don't have a plan to do it right now." Last month he said: "You know, I have to imagine there will be a way to release them and I don't know what that's going to be. My thing was like, the ones that I really really liked, that I made, I put them on the 'Dropped Frames' ones. And I've made some since then that I got like 'I really like that one'. But there's also a lot that I think are fine, they're ok, but I wouldn't want them sitting and taking up space on my Spotify page... almost like just clutter. And I want you guys to have them or have access to. I just haven't figured out the right way to do it." He later introduced the new platform Audius: "There is a platform starting, it's a blockchain music platform called Audius. Their proposal, where they wanna get to, is basically like a super artist-fan centric music platform that it's a little bit like SoundCloud, but it's different. They're heading towards like a 90/10% artists split. [...] So their thing is, they want to facilitate the most direct connection between the artist and the fans, and if you sell a thing you keep almost all of the money and they have the capability of tracking... If you do a remix, I think they can track who partecipated and in what ways, because of the blockchain element, so like, 'I make a keyboard, you make drums, they play guitar, we all share the royalties of that'. [...] They're not gonna replace Spotify or whatever, they described it almost as if it was a music streaming version of a fan club, which I thought it was like, 'Oh! Addictive!'. Like, regular fans would go on Spotify and Apple and blah, blah, blah, but if you treat it like a streaming service for a fan club, then all of the sudden that made sense to me, I was like, 'Oh ok, you're more tight, it's more interactive and it's a different kind of experience.'" During today's stream he decided to release yesterday's jam, that he called "Golden Falcon", inviting fans to subscribe and follow him. "I've been trying to talk to the Audius guys about putting a song on Audius. Is this a good Audius song? You want this one? Is there one you want more than this one? I can put more on there. You want Roger? I don't think I can't do Roger, Roger's got samples in it, I can't put something up there with samples, I don't want to deal with that. Wilhelm? I'm not saying I won't pure more, I'm just saying 'Which one do we starting with?', this one, right? Alright, we'll spend a day just figuring that out. Should we figure that out tomorrow? Hang on, let me see what team Audius says. We'll find out what Audius team thinks about me putting this jam up." He also considered other songs, saying: "What was the other one you guys wanted me to put out? Somebody said the Wilhelm scream one? Skrrt Skrrt I can put out. Maybe that could be good too. I don't want to put it out first though. Oh, I can't put Skrrt Skrrt up there either. I have to go with the ones with no vocals. I can put this one up though, this one I can. Why you guys like KarmaKon so much? This one?" He eventually chose "Golden Falcon": "Ok cool, I'll put the track from yesterday up. He said 'I think it's ideal'. I'll do it on stream. I don't know if I can show my stream while I do it, I'm afraid to give away password or whatever. I'll put it out... what did I call? Golden Falcon? Golden Falcon! Ok, Golden Falcon is going up tomorrow on Audius. If you don't already have the app, just go on the app store and get Audius Music and follow me on the app. I am of course 'mikeshinoda', no space, no slash, no whatever. Yeah, and we'll be able to listen to this song on Audius. Audius is a blockchain-based music app. Right know, when you first get into it, when you first see it, you're gonna go 'Oh this is kinda like SoundCloud', or whatever, you're not gonna realize it's very different. On the back-end of it it's very different." Visit Audius website and follow Mike! More details come tomorrow. EDIT: Song is out and you can listen to it here! Free download (MP3 format) is available directly from Audius, along with 5 stems. Mike released them inviting fans to remix the track and link it to the original song. He said that he could play some of them during the streams and pick his favorite ones. Since Audius allows only 5 more tracks, he uploaded all the 10 stems (WAV format) on Dropbox and sent the link to the Twitch subscribers.

"Looks like I got the thumbs up to release “Just A Dream” produced by Mike Shinoda for April 30th!" She later revealed the artwork with another tweet. She wrote: "I am so hyped. Just not too long ago I was rewatching my old black belt testing video and I had “In The End” playing in the background 😎😛 Little did I know we would cross paths in the future. Makes the world feel kinda small sometimes haha." Mike produced it on Twitch on February 16th and 17th. On a tweet she wrote about her submission: •Neumann Tlm 49 Mic •Vocals comped and edited available in both raw version and mixed •Recorded with pop filter
  19. Ben Kessler announced that his song "Known Like This" will be released on April 8, 2021. "i am very excited to announce the @m_shinoda mix of “Known Like This” will be out April 8 like everyone in the entire world i grew up listening to @linkinpark & @fortminor - it is still crazy to me this song exists i wrote “Known Like This” before ever releasing a song - i was so unsure of myself & my music - kinda crazy how life comes around i have so so much respect & admiration for Mike and how gracious he is with his time & talent pre-save in my bio oki see ya" When the #ShinodaProduceMe initiative was announced, he became an obvious because Mike already knew him since the last year. The original song was already released back in 2019, but Mike reworked it on Twitch on January 25 and January 26. Pre-save it here.
  20. Mike went live on Instagram talking with the 95X Syracuse radio, check the interview on their Instagram page.
  21. Mike answered to some questions under the "Happy Endings" music video on YouTube, check it out. Any advice for someone who wants to explore more their creative side? "It’s OK to make mistakes while learning. And we’re always learning." What was the writing/making process behind happy endings like? "We did it on Zoom lol — it was a collaboration with Upsahl, Sam Ronson, and Pete Nappi, at the end of 2020" This is probably a stupid question: what exactly does the artwork for happy endings represent? Is it a face? "Actually yes! It’s Cain’s version of me!" "Cain started it, and I worked on it second" Question for you Mike: How did y'all come up with the idea of the animated video? Did you have rough ideas of how the video will be animated or did pix3lface just do their job and it was a surprise till the end? "PIX3LFACE and I brainstormed on it a bit. He and his team led the process, but I did contribute some animations (which you might recognize!)" I don’t know if you’ll ever perform this song live, but if you get the chance to do it, how do you think you’re gonna pull off all the vocals? "With a little help from my friends lol" What’s your biggest accomplishment of 2020? "Not going crazy" What can we expect from you in the future on NFT's? "I’ve been looking at NFTs in two ways 1.) like gallery art, and 2.) as a new technology that, while it’s fun, is less important than the emotional / narrative / conceptual content you’re trying to communicate. So I’m focusing on concepts, not the medium." Which plugins did you use on Happy Endings? "Only Ableton stock EQ" Would you like to have a "TikTok dance" for Happy Endings? 💃🕺 "Sure. Please tag me when you make one. lol" Hello Mike! Massive fan here. What’s the story behind this song? Also once it’s safe do you plan to do shows in the uk? It’s a dream of mine to see you perform live one day. Also also how are you Mike haha. "It was just a reaction to how insane last year was. And I'm good, thanks!" Hey! You said that we could ask questions so here goes. Do you like being in a band or being a solo artist? "I like both!" Covid must have been also affecting the way you guys had to shoot the music video for #HappyEndings .so if Covid wasn’t a thing now, would you consider shooting it any other way? "I think the video came out so good. I don't think I would've chosen a different approach, COVID or not" It is very beautiful what you did during the first lockdown and you are still during this very difficult phase for all humanity. As a fan of your work, ever since I pretended to be you miming your songs while listening to the DSP of the 2008 concerts😂, I think it is really generous what you can do today, especially with many emerging artists, which surely (and I know yours story), they didn't. will there be other projects like this and shinodaproduceme in your future? thanks Mike "Thanks! I'll be back on Twitch doing ShinodaProduceMe next week, let's talk about it then" I saw you’re answering questions... any chance of a tour when COVID is over? "I have no idea!" How did you came up with the guitar chords of the song? Was it an old idea or it was the starting point for Happy Endings? "I think the chords came first, yeah. New idea, not a re-purposed demo" After writing about last year, what do you find yourself writing about now? Thank you for all that you do to connect with your fans. We greatly appreciate it!! "Thanks! I write about whatever's going on in my life...either literally or as an emotional reaction" Great track everyone. I just found out today I might be Nerdcore. Have you ever heard of that genre? "No, but I feel like I'll be looking it up today" Would you do a breakdown of Happy Endings on Twitch? Talking about the production, listening to the multitracks and stuff... "sure" About how long did it take to write/produce the song? "It was in progress for a few months. Not every day though" How fun was this video to make on a scale of 1 to 10, Mike? "The concept and result were a 10...however, I had quarantine fatigue from not going out and doing anything , so I was actually really sore from doing the video shoot hahahaha" Is there any version of Happy Endings sung by Samantha Ronson before UPSAHL joined you? "Sam doesn't sing!" How'd the Platonic Love collab come together? "Instagram DMs, lol"
  22. Watch Mike's interview with Alejandro Marín, for the Colombian radio and podcast La X 103.9FM Bogotá - Más Música. He talks about "Happy Endings", #ShinodaProduceMe, NFTs and what he's listening right now. Full article (in Spanish) on their website.
  23. Daniel Sherman announced on his Twitter that his track "What You Want" will be released on April 9, 2021. Mike produced it on Twitch, as part of his #ShinodaProduceMe initiative, in three different days back in February. You can pre-save it on Spotify here!
