From Astat to LPL staff: "Hey guys, just wanted to let you know I've kept the list of songs played live updated recently, and since we just had the last show of 2012, I figured it'd be a good idea to send you the current version. I didn't include anything from Chester's LPU chat (I'm honestly 50/50 on whether stuff like that should "count" - if you guys feel like it should, go ahead and add it), but other than that, this should be up to date. One little thing I should probably mention is I made an "Encore (Jay-Z cover)" entry to refer to the Numb/Encore lyrics tease outros, because I didn't want to include them in the regular Numb/Encore entry, but making a "mashup" entry for it would look dumb ("Numb/Numb/Encore" ?), so that's the solution I came up with."

The Requiem

Last known performance: 9/23/2011

The Radiance

First known performance: 9/14/2010

Last known performance: 9/14/2010

*Note: The album version of 'The Radiance' was only performed once, at the New York release show for A Thousand Suns. See the next two entries for information about other versions of the song.

The Radiance (w/ Mario Savio speech)

First known performance: 10/7/2010

Last known performance: 9/23/2011

*Note: This is essentially the instrumental portion of 'The Radiance', with the Mario Savio speech (originally from the intro to 'Wretches And Kings') used in place of the Robert Oppenheimer speech that is used on the album version. This was originally used as a method of connecting 'The Requiem' with 'Wretches And Kings', as those two songs were used to open most shows at the beginning of the A Thousand Suns touring cycle, but the Savio speech continued to be paired with the instrumental part of 'The Radiance' at later shows, even when the opening song was not 'Wretches And Kings'.

The Radiance (Live Version)

First known performance: 10/7/2010

Last known performance: 9/25/2011

*Note: This is an unofficial name for the piano interlude that was used as an extended outro to 'Numb' on the A Thousand Suns touring cycle. It uses the Robert Oppenheimer speech from 'The Radiance', as well as some lyrics from 'The Catalyst'. Essentially, 'The Radiance' was typically played in full at A Thousand Suns concerts, but the instrumental and speech portions were split up and used during different parts of the show.

Last known performance: 9/23/2011

*Note: Not counting mashups with 'Bleed It Out'.

Empty Spaces

First known performance: 10/7/2010

Last known performance: 1/10/2014

*Note: Much like the relationship between Foreword and 'Don't Stay', 'Empty Spaces' is essentially just a short intro that leads into 'When They Come For Me'. Not played from 9/23/2011 until 8/10/2012 (this song wasn't played on the first leg of the Living Things touring cycle), and again from 10/10/2012 until 1/10/2014.

Wretches And Kings

First known performance: 9/14/2010

Last known performance: 2/28/2011

*Note: The Mario Savio speech at the beginning of this song is sometimes cut out from the live version, as that speech was used to open most concerts on the A Thousand Suns touring cycle, but 'Wretches And Kings' wasn't always the opening song.

Wisdom, Justice, And Love

First known performance: 10/7/2010

Last known performance: 9/25/2011

Played with Jay-Z on 7/18/2004, 2/18/2005, 7/2/2005, 2/21/2008, and 6/29/2008. Only played partially on 2/21/08 and 6/29/08, they played the song up until where the 'Numb' vocal part would come in (this was because Numb had already been played in its entirety earlier in the show).

*Note: Several changes were made to the arrangement of this song during its tenure in LP's live show, most notably that following the 2006 performances in Japan, the 2nd chorus and bridge were cut out of the song, and the tempo was slowed down significantly.

Breaking The Habit (Piano Version)

*Note: Performed at the 2008 Edgefest festival.

First known performance: 12/15/2010

Last known performance: 12/15/2010

*Note: Performed at the 2010 LPU Summit in Sydney. This was actually a partial rendition of the song, as it only went through the second chorus (Mike wasn't really sure what to do with the song once they got to the point where Brad's guitar solo would start!).

The Messenger (Acoustic)

First known performance: 11/11/2010

Last known performance: 6/28/2013

*Note: While 'The Messenger' is basically an "acoustic" song to begin with, this refers to instances where this song was performed in an even more stripped-down version than the usual live version. Performed by Brad and Chester at the 2010 LPU Summit in London (11/11/2010) and the 2011 LPU Summit in Germany (6/21/2011), by Chester and Phoenix at a benefit concert in Salt Lake City, UT (6/28/2013), by Chester alone at the 2010 LPU Summit in Australia (12/15/2010) and at a 2013 radio appearance on 103.9 in San Bernadino, CA (6/5/2013), and by Chester, Mike, and Brad at the 2012 LPU Summit in New Jersey (8/17/2012).

My December (Acoustic Version #2)

First known performance: 9/15/2001

Last known performance: 9/24/2001 (possibly 9/28/2001)

*Note: This refers to the version of this song performed at the last few shows of the 2001 European Headline Tour (and possibly the When Bands Attack festival performance on 9/28), which featured Mike playing the piano part on an MPC, Brad on acoustic guitar, Joe scratching and playing drum samples, and Chester on vocals. Phoenix and Rob did not take part in these performances.

My December (Acoustic Version #3)

First known performance: 11/20/2001 (possibly 11/18/2001)

Last known performance: 2/24/2002

*Note: This refers to the version of this song performed starting on the 2001 Countdown To Revolution tour and continuing through the end of the Hybrid Theory touring cycle in early 2002, which was similar to the version played in September of 2001, except with the addition of Rob playing drums and Phoenix playing cello. Mike still played the piano part on an MPC for these performances, with the exception of the second night of KROQ's Almost Acoustic Xmas on 12/9/2001, where he played a real piano.

*Note: Played once, very briefly, by Brad and Chester, more as a joke than anything.

Iron Man (Black Sabbath cover)

Last known performance: 8/10/2008

*Note: Played by Mike as a solo piano/vocal arrangement a few times in 2008 (1/16, 1/17, 1/24, 2/22, 8/6, and 8/10). His cover was only of the first verse of the song. Labeled as "Show Me" on official LP live audio releases.

Umbrella (Rihanna Cover)

First known performance: 1/28/2008

Last known performance: 2/18/2008

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

First known performance: 12/8/2007

O Little Town Of Bethlehem

First known performance: 12/8/2007

Last known performance: 12/8/2007

*Note: The children's choir that sang on 'Hands Held High' at the 2007 KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas show sang part of this song over the 'Hands Held High' intro. It was VERY low in the mix on the webcast, but it can be heard if you listen close enough. There's also a video of them rehearsing it at soundcheck.

First known performance: 11/15/2010

Last known performance: 11/15/2010

*Note: Chester sang a verse/chorus from this song over the intro to 'The Messenger' at the 2010 show in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Sabotage (Beastie Boys cover)

First known performance: 5/18/2012

Last known performance: 11/10/2012

*Note: Never played in full, but a portion of the song was routinely mashed up with 'Bleed It Out' for most of the Living Things touring cycle.

Encore (Jay-Z cover)

First known performance: 8/11/2012

Last known performance: 1/11/2014

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'Numb/Encore' entry (and because listing it as a mashup would be difficult to do... "Numb/Numb/Encore" would look pretty silly, don't you think?). Mike (and sometimes Chester) briefly sang a few lines from the chorus of 'Encore' over the outro to 'Numb' semi-regularly during the Living Things touring cycle.

NON JAY-Z MASHUPS

Nobody's Listening/My Name

First known performance: 4/9/2003

Last known performance: 4/26/2003

*Note: Xzibit routinely came out during 'Nobody's Listening' on the Projekt Revolution tour in 2003 to rap a verse from 'My Name'. This was done in a similar manner to how Mike added the 'Standing In The Middle' verse to 'Nobody's Listening' later in the year (with the extra verse coming after the song's normal second verse).

It's Goin' Down/Gin And Juice

First known performance: 8/30/2004

Last known performance: 8/30/2004

*Note: At the Projekt Revolution 2004 show in Colorado, Snoop Dogg came out during the 'It's Goin' Down' portion of the "Hip-Hop Medley" LP had been performing on that tour, and rapped a verse from 'Gin And Juice' over the extended outro. This collaboration was rumored to take place at a few shows on this tour, but the Colorado show is the only one that has been confirmed.

Points Of Authority/Nobody's Listening

First known performance: 8/3/2007

Last known performance: 8/31/2007

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'Nobody's Listening' entry. Part of 'Nobody's Listening' was briefly mashed up with 'Points Of Authority' at 3 Projekt Revolution 2007 shows (8/3, 8/24. and 8/31).

Points Of Authority/Step Up

First known performance: 8/10/2007

Last known performance: 8/11/2009

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'Step Up' entry. Part of 'Step Up' was briefly mashed up with 'Points Of Authority' at 2 2007 shows (8/10 and 10/26), and the 2009 show in Okinawa, Japan.

Points Of Authority/High Voltage

First known performance: 8/14/2007

Last known performance: 7/30/2009

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'High Voltage' entry. Part of 'High Voltage' was briefly mashed up with 'Points Of Authority' at 3 Projekt Revolution 2007 shows (8/14, 8/21, and 9/3), and the 2009 show in Stuttgart, Germany.

Points Of Authority/It's Goin' Down

First known performance: 8/28/2007

Last known performance: 3/6/2008

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'It's Goin' Down' entry. Part of 'It's Goin' Down' was briefly mashed up with 'Points Of Authority' at one 2007 show and 4 2008 shows (1/25, 1/27, 2/18, and 3/6).

Points Of Authority/A Place For My Head

First known performance: 7/21/2009

Last known performance: 8/22/2009

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'A Place For My Head' entry. Part of 'A Place For My Head' was briefly mashed up with the extended ending to 'Points Of Authority' at most 2009 shows (7/21, 7/25, 7/26, 7/28, 8/1, 8/2, 8/5, 8/8, 8/13, 8/15, 8/16, and 8/22).

Points Of Authority/Reading My Eyes

First known performance: 7/30/2009

Last known performance: 8/9/2009

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'Reading My Eyes' entry. Part of 'Reading My Eyes' was briefly mashed up with the extended ending to 'Points Of Authority' at 2 2009 shows.

Hands Held High/KRWLNG

First known performance: 7/16/2008

Last known performance: 8/22/2009

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'Hands Held High' entry. The first verse of 'Hands Held High' was mashed up with the Reanimated intro to 'Crawling' on the Projekt Revolution 2008 tour, and again in 2009. Starting on 7/23/2009, Mike switched to rapping the second verse over the 'KRWLNG' intro instead. He reverted back to the first verse for the 7/25 show, but did the second verse for every show from 7/26 onwards (except for the 8/15 show, which did not feature anything over the 'KRWLNG' intro).

Bleed It Out/Reading My Eyes

First known performance: 6/20/2008

Last known performance: 8/19/2013

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'Reading My Eyes' entry. Part of 'Reading My Eyes' was mashed up with 'Bleed It Out' at 2 2008 shows (6/20 and 8/21), 3 2010 shows (11/2, 11/9, and 12/12), 3 2011 shows (6/19, 6/21, and 6/25), and 5 2013 shows (8/1, 8/3, 8/11, 8/15, and 8/19). 2013 performances featured Rob playing the drum beat from 'Reading My Eyes', something he hadn't done on previous mashups of this song with 'Bleed It Out'.

Bleed It Out/Sweet Child O' Mine

First known performance: 8/16/2008

Last known performance: 8/16/2008

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'Sweet Child O' Mine' entry. Part of this song was mashed up with 'Bleed It Out' at the Projekt Revolution 2008 show in East Troy, Wisconsin.

Bleed It Out/Papercut

First known performance: 8/16/2009

Last known performance: 8/16/2009

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'Papercut' entry. Part of 'Papercut' was mashed up with 'Bleed It Out' at the 2009 show in Macau, China.

Bleed It Out/Burning In The Skies

First known performance: 10/9/2010

Last known performance: 6/12/2011

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'Burning In The Skies' entry. The chorus of 'Burning In The Skies' was mashed up with 'Bleed It Out' at numerous shows during the A Thousand Suns touring cycle.

Bleed It Out/A Place For My Head

First known performance: 10/26/2010

Last known performance: 9/25/2011

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'A Place For My Head' entry. Parts of 'A Place For My Head' were mashed up with 'Bleed It Out' at numerous shows during the A Thousand Suns touring cycle. The initial performance on 10/26/2010 was a rather "typical" 'Bleed It Out' mashup, where Mike just rapped the first verse of 'A Place For My Head' over the 'Bleed It Out' bridge, but at subsequent performances (10/29/2010 and onwards), the band actually performed a more substantial mashup, combining the first verse and bridge from 'A Place For My Head' with the middle section of 'Bleed It Out' (including Rob playing the drum part from 'A Place For My Head' while the guitars from 'Bleed It Out' continued).

Bleed It Out/Harlem Shake

First known performance: 3/4/2012

Last known performance: 3/4/2012

*Note: Joe Hahn played part of 'Harlem Shake' during the bridge of 'Bleed It Out' at the last show of the 2013 Australian tour in Perth.

VIctimized/QWERTY

First known performance: 8/10/2012

Last known performance: 8/19/2013

*Note: This is only a separate entry to avoid any confusion with the normal 'QWERTY' entry. All performances of 'Victimized' during the Living Things touring cycle featured a portion of 'QWERTY'. 8/10/2012 performance was during rehearsals attended by select LPU'ers. First public performance was 8/11/2012.

*Note: Never played in full, but part of the song was briefly mashed up with 'Faint' at the 4/28/2007 show in Berlin, Germany. Starting with the 2/22/2008 show in Montreal, Canada, Mike began rapping part of this song over the extended ending to 'Points Of Authority' on a semi-regular basis, which he did at the following shows: 2/22, 2/26, 2/29, 3/4, 3/6, 3/7, 3/10, 6/18, 6/22, 6/27, 6/28, 6/29, 7/12, 7/13, and every Projekt Revolution 2008 show except for 7/18 (note that the February/March ending was different from the June-August ending). Also mashed up with the breakdown of 'Bleed It Out' on 3/8/2008. Mike rapped this verse over the 'Points Of Authority' outro again a few times in 2009, on 7/19, 7/23, and 8/11.

There is a mistake with APFMH

A Place for My Head

First known performance: 7/24/2000

Last known performance: 11/10/2012

*Note: Not counting mashups with Points of Authority or Bleed it Out. Not played from 9/11/2004 until 1/16/2008, again from 7/13/2008 until 10/25/2010, and once again from 10/25/2010 until 6/3/2012.

6/3/2012 this should be 5/26/2012, the show in Lisboa was the first apearance of APFMH not the show in Nürnberg.

Thanks, will fix it.

I love reading stuff like those statistics lists...

Me too. We're going to try to update them all soon and also put a lot more on the site.

Cure for the Itch

First known performance: 7/24/2000 (as abberviated show intro)

Last known performance: 1/10/2001 (as abbreviated show intro)

*Note: Never played in full, but roughly half of the song was used as LP's show intro quite a bit during the early stages of the Hybrid Theory touring cycle.

This page says different.

'Cure For The Itch' was played for the first time since June 4th, 2001.

This page says different.

I REALLY doubt CFTI was actually played at that show - it wasn't played at any other shows around that period. Whoever reported the setlist probably got one of Joe's other instrumental interludes confused with CFTI. Wouldn't be the first time people don't know WTF they're hearing at a live show...shame there's no recording of that performance to figure it out, but I'd bet good money that it was

that Joe routinely played towards the end of sets around that period (the video is also from the show the day before the one in question).

I bet you're right and I believe I'll change the show page on that note.

My Own Summer (Deftones Cover)

First known performance: 1/29/2002

Last known performance: 3/2/2002

Back from the first encore, Mike looked into the crowd and announced,"We're going to play a song by a band we admire." "We're really going to do this?" Chester spoke up. "We've never played this live before!" admitted Chester before the boys offered a near note-by-note perfect rendition of the Deftones's "My Own Summer (Shove It)."

what is the source for 29.01?

what is the source for 29.01?

Never saw anything that gave any indication that they DIDN'T play that song for the entire 2002 tour. That's the first I've ever seen that says otherwise. Then again, the band announcing "firsts" on stage often refers to it being the first tour they've done something, as opposed to the first time ever.

We don't have "sources" for a lot of stuff. But it's VERY rare for Linkin Park to add a song mid-tour without dropping something first (i.e. And One being swapped for It's Goin' Down on the same tour).
