i don't think it's a roots song but a freestyle jam. this is just how black thought and ?uestlove freestyle. and before mike came in, black thought rapped something like "yeah mike, blablabla". and if it was a roots song, mike and black thought should have rapped the same when black thought came in again, but they didn't. mike probably wrapped up some stuff before the show, but he also said that he got much better in freestyling somewhere on his blog.

Roots jam sessions are jazz orientated concerts which means almost everything is improvisation. In my opinion this song is an inprovisaton too because I'm a huge Roots fan and I know all their realeased material (even the albums from the early 90's) but I've never heard this song before.

BTW: Mike's flow isn't that good, looks like he's not used to this rhythm.

Psh Mike's flow is fine. This is probably some of his best rapping.

 

Though being on the same stage as The Roots can make you look worse.
