LPPRJKT4 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I have never been a huge fan of Queens Of The Stone Age, but coincidentally I heard the song "3's and 7's" just hours after hearing "Crawl Back In" and almost cried out when I heard the first riff. Crawl Back In is almost an exact copy!!! See for yourself!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqUiPtG_Rdw Quote

Some of them can have similarities. Quote
[AndOne] Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 IMO this is far away from an "exact copy". Some things might be similar. Quote
LPPRJKT4 Posted August 17, 2009 Author Posted August 17, 2009 Lol mayb I'm exaggerating, but me and anyone of my friends who heard crawl back in yesterday agreed that it is very similiar. Quote
LPxDC Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 ppl have been saying little sister by QOTSA was ripped off by my suffering as well hmm Quote
immortalsoul Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Then you could also say the intro riff of "3's and 7's" kinda sounds like Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit." It happens quite often that riffs are sounding similar. With the gigantic amount of songs that we now have in the world, it comes as no surprise that some parts of songs might sound similar or even the same. Quote
Xero21 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 No one's copying anyone. Chester didn't sit down and listen to that song and think "wow I want to use that in my music!" Similarities are inevitable but no one is copying. Quote
LPPRJKT4 Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 Actually considering 2 DBS songs sound like 2 QOSA songs, I'm pretty sure he used them as influences which therefore falls under the category of "I want to use that in my music," though not in the sense I was referring to earlier I guess. Yeah, I mean it's just natural that a musician is heavily inspired by other music as well. But being inspired doesn't mean that he/she starts copying something 1:1. And if something sounds alike, then yeah--these things happen. It's inevitable nowadays with these song masses, as I have stated before. Quote
Jack Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 IMO this is far away from an "exact copy". Some things might be similar. Well IMO, I think the 3's and 7's riff is a rip-off to Smells Like Teen Spirit. Quote
LPPRJKT4 Posted August 21, 2009 Author Posted August 21, 2009 I think Smells Like Teen Spirit came out after 3's and 7's? Quote
Astat Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I think Smells Like Teen Spirit came out after 3's and 7's? ...Not even close. Like, more than 15 years not even close. Quote
Subs Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 ...Not even close. Like, more than 15 years not even close. Pmsl How the hell can someone get that so wrong, my 3 year old cousin could tell you SLTS is ancient. Quote
