GlassCastles Posted February 9 Posted February 9 After an intense 3 show run in Mexico, Japan is next up for the From Zero World Tour with back to back shows at Saitama Super Arena! Linkin Park has hit the ground running this tour, capping off the Mexico leg in Monterrey, where they debuted Set C. The new set featured the return of the "Burn It Down" vocals over the various act intros, "Given Up" rounding out the "heavy" rotation slot in the middle of the set alongside "Casualty" and "Keys To The Kingdom", and had the revival of "From The Inside", which was last played during the One More Light tour in Birmingham, UK. This is also the first time the song was played in the encore, but it's a spot I wouldn't mind it sticking around in. It's certainly got the energy to help close out the show! That's not to mention the new arrangement of "Lost" to replace the shortened piano version and the new From Zero additions so far this year: "Overflow", "Good Things Go", and the bridge of "Cut The Bridge" over the "Bleed It Out" bridge. It's certainly shaping up to be an exciting tour! The tour debut of "From The Inside" from Monterrey, MX on February 5, 2025 Linkin Park has a pretty storied history in Japan, though they've only played in Saitama specifically twice. Both times were in 2007 where they did back to back nights at Saitama Super Arena. Sound familiar? The first night in the city featured an elusive full version of "Hands Held High" along with some of the band's strongest show and encore openers in "No More Sorrow" and "The Little Things Give You Away", respectively. If the band happens to be looking for ideas to surprise fans, I don't think anyone would be complaining about those picks! And if you feel like indulging in some nostalgia, check out this recording of the band's first night in Saitama 2007, which was obtained for the community by the late Nick Kramar (R.I.P.) Audience recording of the band's first night in Saitama, JP on November 23, 2007 Beyond Saitama, there's no shortage of history to pull from as far as Linkin Park in Japan goes. The band last played in the country as part of the promotional campaign for One More Light, where Mike and Chester played a piano version of "Heavy" for NTV's News Zero. Their last "proper" shows were during the Living Things tour when they played Summer Sonic 2013. On top of Mike and Chester joining Steve Aoki later in the night to premiere their collaboration "A Light That Never Comes", it was also a truly stellar performance from the band (a performance so good it led to us getting a quick shoutout from Mike). "Lost In The Echo" in particular from that show is among the band's best performances in this writer's opinion. Hopefully it's not a permanent casualty of the new year setlist change. "Lost In The Echo" live from Summer Sonic 2013 in Osaka, JP Probably the most iconic moment across Linkin Park's time in Japan was the world premiere of "QWERTY" in 2006. The song has become a longstanding fan favorite, but has been relegated to deep-cut purgatory since the Minutes To Midnight era ended (plus a short stint as the conjoined twin of "VICTIMIZED"). That being said, "QWERTY" was made a single as part of the Papercuts promotional campaign, and "All For Nothing" getting its debut in Arlington proves that the band is willing to pull out songs we thought were totally out of the question. Could we see it make its long anticipated return in Japan? Along those same lines, the first and only snippets of "No Roads Left" to ever be played live were in Chiba and Yokohama, Japan back in 2011. With how much Mike's singing voice has improved over the years, I'd wager he could pull off the whole song nowadays. Just throwing that out there... "QWERTY" live from Tokyo, JP on August 13, 2006 It's gonna be an early one folks! The show seemingly starts at 6:00 PM, which is in the wee hours of the morning over here in the US. No openers for this one either, so it's all business! After this, Linkin Park is gonna stick around for another night before heading off to Jakarta to wrap up both the Asian leg of the tour and the first "mini-leg" of the tour overall. We'll be sure to keep you all up to date on everything going on in the Linkin Park world both here on the forums and on all our various channels (Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook)! Quote
bloodbath Posted February 9 Posted February 9 If Friendly Fire got its shot early just because of Papercuts, THIS is the place to debut Qwerty. Mike can't play fool this time, he knows we really want it Quote
Sukotto Posted February 10 Posted February 10 With no openers, may be that they do a couple extra songs like they did in London 2017. not long to find out! Quote
hybridcloudyfz Posted February 10 Posted February 10 QWERTY PLEAAAASE, that'd be so sick. let's all cross our fingers Quote
javignacio Posted February 10 Posted February 10 my hope is QWERTY after the rotation spot as an extra song, or in the encore after APFMH Quote
Yucker Posted February 11 Posted February 11 So... Set A (Castle of glass over the intro) with Casualty and APFMH on the rotation spots. Quote
GoodyLP Posted February 11 Posted February 11 hey did you forgot to mention in concert page Mike s birthday that crowd with emily sing Happy birthday and mentioned Dave too? Did you? LOL Quote
vinifeijo Posted February 11 Posted February 11 (edited) Am i crazy or they refer to the crowd as "Tokyo" a few times? In the intro, right before SIB starts, Mike says it. Dave after the birthday wishes too. At the beginning of Numb Mike does it again. Edited February 11 by vinifeijo Quote

Yucker Posted February 11 Posted February 11 (edited) Edit. With a little research Saitama is a different city than Tokyo, even they're next to each other. Edited February 11 by Yucker Quote

I give an example of the last time that I saw LP in Italy. The show took place in Monza, but every band they refer to the crowd as "Milan". The situation is similar as now. Monza and Milan are two different city next to each other just like Saitama and Tokyo. The band refer to the crowd as the big city name Quote

leftshoe18 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 It's not just foreigner things. I've been to a show in Tinley Park, IL where every band addressed the crowd as Chicago. The big city is typically the one bands refer to when playing in a suburb. Quote
LPLStaff Posted February 12 Posted February 12 This has been a thing since forever with live music, how is this a topic of conversation in 2025? lol We just list the city the venue is in to be most accurate. Of course LP is going to say Tokyo on stage. Quote
DelusionsOfAdequacy Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Show Notes: - Joe got the first chorus of TEM wrong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKtR1epjAtc&t=62s Quote

I’m still waiting for Joe to badly fuck up the bridge on New Divide like he’s done in the past Quote

It's always been puzzling to me considering that everyone in the band makes mistakes and most of them are not tracked. Alex played a wrong chord last week in Mexico. Phoenix hits wrong notes too. Emily forgets words. It seems awfully arbitrary and weirdly mean to be following Joe's mistakes so closely. Is it really show note material? A band makes mistakes...? Yea, they actually play live. I'm genuinely curious what the reason is here. Can someone explain? Quote

For example: If Joes plays the Intro to Crawling, ITE or Numb wrong, you immediately recognize it. Perhaps playing a guitar part wrong for a split second gets mixed up in the whole sound production/wall. Therefore, that might not even be too „important“ Just speculation. Quote
LPLStaff Posted February 12 Posted February 12 We started doing it eons ago - maybe it's worth a revisit. In 2003-2004, the only things you'd notice wrong in a show would be a Numb intro from Mike or something. Then Joe. On the Honda Civic Tour in 2012 Joe messed up Numb like 3 shows in a row and on the 4th, Mike turned around and said something to him before the song started lol It's not trying to be mean, it's just a note on the show. It happened in Mexico. There is no way to accurately track Alex and Phoenix playing something incorrectly. If Mike and Emily forget the words to something, we try to add that too. It's just a note on the show, nothing against any band members or anything. Quote
