Linkin Park to return to China in 2015

Recommended Posts

Check the attached picture below for alleged information on a new Linkin Park show in China, in late 2015.

The picture is on the website for the concert host in China, which can only bee seen via the app called WeChat. It says that the concert will be held at Chongqing Olympic Center in Chongqing, China on October 3rd 20:00 EST+8. The news was found in a Chinese forum for Linkin Park fans.
Last month, this exact city and venue were rumored for a show earlier in 2015 and permits have allegedly already been approved by the Chongqing Culture Commission for Linkin Park to perform there next year.

What do you think?

1/26/15 EDIT: Five possible show dates have leaked on a Chinese forum.

2015.09.29 Beijing, China, Beijing Worker's Stadium
2015.10.01 Shanghai, China, Shanghai Stadium
2015.10.03 Chongqing, China, Chongqing Olympic Sports Center
2015.10.05 Shenzhen, China, Shenzhen Bay Sports Center
2015.10.07 Wuhan, China, Wuhan Sports Center Stadium
Linkin Park last played in China in 2009. They had three stadium shows in Beijing, Shanghai, and Wuhan scheduled for September 2011, but the Chinese government canceled the contracts of the shows before they were announced. This was due to Linkin Park meeting the Dalai Lama at a Music For Relief event earlier that year in Los Angeles. It was said that LP was banned from performing in China at the time, but it seems that will now change.
Three cities on this tour (Beijing, Shanghai, and Wuhan) were canceled in 2008 as well when Chester injured his back playing with his kid a few weeks beforehand.

4/20/15 EDIT: Brad has confirmed in the LPU chat today that Linkin Park will return to China in 2015.

4/22/15 EDIT: Second confirmation of Linkin Park heading to Asia.

4/25/15 EDIT: Ticket sellers on Taobao.com (Chinese version of eBay) are selling tickets for the following dates. Wuhan has been removed and Nanjing has been added.

2015.07.17 Nanjing, China, Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre
2015.07.19 Shenzhen, China, Shenzhen Bay Sports Center
2015.07.22 Shanghai, China, Shanghai Stadium
2015.07.24 Chongqing, China, Chongqing Olympic Sports Center
2015.07.26 Beijing, China, Beijing Workers' Stadium

4/28 EDIT: According to a government website, the Chinese government has approved the Shenzhen show.

5/6 EDIT: A picture of Mike (holding up a sign in Chinese) on the Linkin Park Weibo page says that something is coming tomorrow.

5/6 EDIT: Chinese news confirms the shows.

We will continue to update this thread on more information when it becomes available.

Is this the picture we're supposed to see?

I can't see anything on the picture. The rumored date for May was fake?

If this date is correct I wouldn't consider the May rumor "fake" per se, but changed in the process of negotiations. Seems more likely the band won't be touring throughout the spring/early Summer, maybe some STPWCB stuff then since we have a show announced near that time already.

So China will be a part of the 2015 Asian tour?

I wonder if they'll go back to Macau too? ^^

Maybe it will be part of the 2015 Asian tour.

Hope they can go to Macau because it is really close to my city lol.

BTW I am still working on the Camden thing.(Mega sometimes blocked and very slow upload speed.)

still very surprised they tour in Chongqing,

that's another city LP haven't been toured there before in Chinese region

Maybe they'll do a China tour again in 2015?

Hopefully they'll visit Hong Kong again since the show last year was a great one ;)

I'm kind of suspicious about this since LP was banned in China and also because the add for the concert features a pic from the Minutes To Midnight era. That doesn't really mean anything, though. If this date is confirmed or turns out to be true, I'm surprised that LP will be touring that late into 2015, maybe another US tour next summer is a possibility then.

I know, some of the countries they haven't visited yet, or only visited once have huge fanbases, like India

India's never been performed in before, which is what you're probably implying but you worded it in a confusing manner.

Yea, I was listing India as an example since they have a huge LP Fanbase, as to this site:

http://www.linkinparkindia.com/

They have a huge fanbase, and LP hasn't performed there and I actually said that there were countries that LP played either once or hasn't had LP play, read it correctly LOL :P

You should of put the "like India" after the first comma, because the second clause justified it as being part of it rather than the first.

ANYWAY, 2015 is shaping up to be interesting. Looks like the band won't be doing much during the spring, but resuming touring from May to October. Will THP even go into 2016?

I would say maybe they will tour on THP until the end of 2015, write a new record in 2016 and maybe play a few shows here and there, and then record and release a new album in 2017, probably around Summer. If I had to guess.
