  1. What about the tracklist for the audio version? It's gonna be crazy with 30-song tracklist! However they will cut some of the songs for the audio version but I hope they won't do that for the video. And it's clear that they won't play any new songs for that show because they played Set A in Oberhausen without any new songs so hardly we can expect something new.

They want you to think they're playing 30 songs, but they're only playing 16 full songs. The rest is just half songs/intros/interludes. Milton Keynes was 1hr37min and their actual set is around 1hr40min so it's not so different.

  2. Sometimes most of the time I don't understand Linkin Park's logic for the shows they pick for DVDs. I mean, Download Festival was by far the most epic/unique event on this tour cycle, yet they decide to record a random show with a setlist we've seen all year long (we have proshots of Rock in Rio, Rock am Ring, Camden, Hollywood Bowl, and Circuito do Brasil).

I wonder if they'll release this as The Hunting Party+ or as a separate CD/DVD.

  3. A PLACE FOR MY HEAD SOUNDCHECKED.

Hoooooly foook this is awesome. And with Phoenix mentioning ALITS for the next tour, things are looking better and better

Don't get your hopes too high. This is coming from a band that said they wanted to play ATS in full live (never happened), made Living Things an album to be played live (ended up playing only half of it), a band that came up with a "visceral" sound different from what's on the radio (and released the two ballads as singles), a ''carnivores' tour with a set full of radio friendly songs, and a long etc.

Phoenix 'reason' to not play new stuff on this tour is just an excuse for laziness. None of the LP stuff is technically challenging so if they wanted, they could play pretty much anything from their catalogue without even rehearsing (but they would probably tell you they can't because they need to figure out the lights, pyro, screens, etc that go with every song, which is, for me, another excuse. I don't give a fuck if they play an entire set with no lights or 1000 LED screens on the stage as long as the songs they play are all badass. /endrant

  4. That was pretty cool to watch! Great background music that MTV picked. You know you're a LP fan when you recognize every single one of those rare demos/songs haha.

I know that they've said multiple times that early on some bands treated them horribly on tour but I didn't know until now that one of those bands was The Union Unfderground.

    Thanks for the link!

  5. Got back home from the show. It was awesome. I'm glad I was there for the new setlist debut. Overall the set has some highs and lows. I'll keep saying that the shortened songs idea makes zero sense, and that crap like Joe Solo (yeah, cool effects and stuff but I'd rather have a song there) and the Castle of Glass version they play should be removed. Also, too many singles and the song election/order for the encore can be vastly improved. Other than that, I have to say that I had a lot of fun and that the band played flawlessly, except for a few mistakes by Brad and Joe. DOYS/LFY was a nice surprise. People were loud as hell from beginning to end and Chester was on fire. Man, he's from another planet.

  6. Pretty bad setlist. I don't see how this is a high energy 'visceral' show. Too many singles. Shortened songs is ridiculous. Never heard of a band doing that before. Intro + joe solo + mike solo + robot boy interlude + blackout interlude crap = play instead 2 or 3 full songs. They destroyed castle of glass. They rehearsed by myself , forgotten and pushing for the download festival show, so they could for instance rotate those songs, that'd be a cool thing. They can add one or two more THP songs (aren't carnivores and hunting party basically the same idea?). I can't believe they shortened UIG. So there you go .. They can play a 22 song set with 14 singles, one or two 'rare' songs being rotated, and 6 THP songs. /endrant

  7. Playing the same set for another entire tour is disappointing. I'll never understand the shortened songs crap or why they think that playing that awful version of Castle of Glass is better than the original song. I understand the idea of the ballad medley but they've been playing it for way too long.

On a recent interview, this was Mike's response to a question about setlists:

How do you make the decisions for what you will and won’t play live, and are there some songs that you have to play at every show?
SHINODA: There’s nothing that we have to play. It’s our decision. But at the end of the day, we definitely know that the fans expect to see certain things and they want to see certain songs. A fan will come up and say, “Hey, will you play ‘And One’ off of the Hybrid Theory demo EP?” And it’s like, “Well, we can. But imagine if we take ‘In the End’ or ‘One Step Closer’ out of the set to put that in. I know that 200 people will be really stoked to see that, but then there’s 20,000 people that are bummed out that one of these songs isn’t in.” It’s always a decision we make. But one thing about the new album, The Hunting Party, is that it was written for the stage. It was written for the live show. It’s very live band oriented, so we want to play as much of that stuff as possible. Currently, I think we have five songs in the set, which is a good quarter of the set. We’re still playing the stuff that people know the band for, and we’re also playing new stuff.

His response is really pathetic and it's sad to think that they want to play a show for 'casual' listeners. I don't know why they don't make different setlists every night, like give each a city a 'surprise' song or something like that. It's not that we're asking them to drop all the singles for b-sides but one song each night won't hurt.
Having said all this, at least I'm glad I'll get to see 5 songs off of THP. Rebellion is a great jam and I'm excited to hear it live.
  8. I don't understand their logic. Two consecutive albums saying that they are writing songs that are fun to play live and then they completely ignore half of those albums live. I'm not saying they should play the entire album every night but they could easily learn all the songs and rotate them, having GATS, UIG and Final Masquerade in every set list. Then again, they talk about how soft music is and that they want to write heavy songs but they release the two soft songs as singles, which means that from their heaviest album to date, THP, the only two songs that have a secure spot in their set lists are the soft songs ...

  9. This song is fucking awesome. It was the song I was looking forward the most and mother of god, what a monster! It completely fulfilled my expectations. It's gonna be hard to top this song but I have faith that the rest of the songs we haven't heard are as good.
