  1. New interview about OML with Brad and Joe for Shock in Colombia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bD_AH0HKCsY .

Here´s the translation to the questions and Brad´s answers in Spanish:

On whether it´s a concept album or not: Brad said that they didn' try to make a concept album, they just wanted to write honest and personal songs (then he gives up in Spanish and continues in English lol)

How long did it take to write the album: Brad said that they had been writing music for 2 years, but the album itself took aproximately a year and a half. They wrote close to 70 songs, and then picked their 10 favorite songs to be part of OML.

Third question is about "dark lyrics" on the album, and he answers in English.

On the song Heavy: He said that it´s a good introduction to the album because it represents the album sonically.

Question 5 is on how the collaboration with Kiiara came about, and Joe answers in English,

Question 6 is whether they are going to donate money off of the album sales. Answer in English.

Question 7 is on how it felt to make music 20 years ago. Joe answers in English.

  2. I've been revisiting some of LP's "poppy" catalog, and for me, "Primo" is the prime example of a "pop sounding" song that sounds fresh, experimental, and more importantly, sounds like Linkin Park, No need for loud guitars or acoustic drums to make a sound great when the songwriting is good.

  3. -I like this song more than Heavy. It sounds like something LP could have put out at any point in their career unlike Heavy which to me screams "we'll do anything to be on the radio again".

    - I enjoy Chesters 's clean vocals, however, the instrumental is very poor. If they had all the melodies and lyrics first (which Mike said was the process this time around), I can't believe all they could come up with for the music was a beat Mike probably made in 5 minutes.

I'm still not expecting anything from this album. It's still sad that they went from a record like THP (in which at least they pushed themselves musically) to making songs like this.

  4. Well as far as Rob specifically, the "Drum Idea" video let me know that he had basically no input lol. Mike basically said "here's what I want you to play", and then Rob went and played it.

I think that happens pretty much on 95% of the music they write. The only time where I think it didn't happen (as much) was during the MTM process (basically because we have a documentary showing all members bringing in stuff, and for instance, The Little Things started as a "drum idea") but for the most part it seems like that Mike and Brad tell Dave and Rob what to play in a song.

  5. Woah, these guys are pretty savage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq49NHwN1Uc

I remember watching Scuzz interview Chester when THP came out, LP probably won't accept another interview again :D

EDIT: or whatever the meth teeth guy is called. Beez?

Yeah, same interview where Chester said that he got "tingles" when he heard the opening riff for GATS and made him want to write rock songs forever. Just pure bullshit. Thats the worst part of all of this, going back to those interviews and then realizing that they are making the exact same music they wanted to avoid just two years ago. Like WTF?

  6. Not really sure where to start. Do I like the song? Hell no. Is it the worst song LP has done? No, A Light that Never Comes still wins. I wasn't really expecting much based on the interviews/teasers so luckily I didn't get disappointed. I admit that I like the "heavier" side of LP, however I appreciate a good song even it's a mellow one. In fact, Breaking the Habit is still one of my favorite songs even if it's borderline pop. Heavy, though, sounds like a uninspired and desperate attempt to be on the radio again. The chorus melody is decent but that first verse is atrocious. I can't believe they spent all of 2014 talking "trash" about the generic-over saturated market of indie/alternative rock bands which led them to do THP. Well, not a lot has changed yet they decide to put out a song (and possibly an album) that fits that description.

Anyway, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and wait until the album is released, however, my expectations are as low as they can be considering Mike said Heavy is a good representation of the record. I'm hoping to at least hear a few good songs so that it ends up being kinda like how I experienced Living Things (I hated Burn it Down but at least half of LT was decent)

  7. Out of the few words that start with -On- that are 8 letters in length, the only word that sounds like an album or song title is "Oncoming" and it doesn't convince me. The other options are probably something like "On the xxx", or "Onto xxxx". My bet is "Only xxxx" or "over xxxx"

  8. Im going to repeat what I said on the other thread...I love LP and they're still my favorite band, but I wish they would stop the bullshit of teasing everything they do. Why can't they just drop a freaking song when it's ready? Why can't they just release album info? There's no need for such a big band to pretty much announce that they will make an announcement. Papa Roach released a single without even having an album title/release date, Stone Sour already released an album title and they're not even done recording, and so many other examples out there.

  9. Don't get me wrong, I love LP and they're still my favorite band, but I wish they would stop the bullshit of teasing everything they freaking do. If you have a song to share, just freaking post it. If you know the album release date/title, share it. I hate that they basically announce that they will make an announcement. They're a big act, no need to create hype for everything. /rant

  10. I'm actually really excited for their upcoming gigs. I hope they listen to us fans and switch their setlist.

I wouldn't hold my breath. This quote is from an article posted two days ago, which features an interview with Mike:

He continues, “for example, we know that over two-thirds of our fans live outside the US, they range from 13-35, they're roughly 50/50% male/female, most of them are gamers, and 80% of them were pleased with our set list on the last tour.

So clearly, they will continue to please the "casual" fans that go to their concerts to listen to In the End, Numb or What I´ve Done.
