  1. Edit: Also not entirely related but I noticed Mark was saying the other day that gang vocals on iridescent were mimed - but I just downloaded the LPUX newsletter and Rob specifically mentions it and says that 4/6 sing on stage (Chester, Mike, Phx and Joe) now I have to say it does sound a lot like the album version but I don't think Rob would say it if they didn't?

They're singing live but all the micophones are really low except for Chester and Mike, so you can barely hear Phoenix or Joe or Brad. It's very obvious that the gang vocals are mimed. Also, I'm almost sure that the 'ooohhh' backing vocals on Waiting for the End and Burning in the Skies are also mimed and Mike sings over them. And for this summer tour, I realized by listening to the DPS's that the chorus on When They Come For Me also has sampled vocals and Chester sings over them (this didn't happen on the previous tours; you could only hear Chester)

Regarding the tour, I think it was acceptable. I mean, the band played really well all the song, Chester was on top and besides the KROQ show, they had a lot of energy on stage. The bad thing is that the tour became predictable. We pretty much knew all the songs they were going to play and the only surprise was the piano version of Rolling In the Deep (and RME over BIO, if you want). What Mark mentioned is also important. The band didn't talk too much to the crowd besides the 'usual' stuff. But well, I'm sure most of the people who attended the shows had a blast and I guess that what counts.

I hope the Asian Tour can bring us some new stuff, but I prefer not to expect anything.

  2. It's not the musical composition, it's not the lyrics, it's not the melody, it's not Mike's vocal performance...it's the arrangement. It's just so...monotonous. A soft song should still have some type of climax (see: My December, Shadow of the Day, Iridescent, etc.), but In Between just maintains a rather same-y dynamic level the entire way through the song.

    THIS.

Boring show with an almost identical setlist to what I saw in Boston in February...with the exception of Chester blowing my @#$%^ mind with the Adele cover. I saved the audio and put it on SoundCloud via the link above for the time being, until (hopefully) a video surfaces. Amazing cover!

Thanks for that dude! Holy shit! Chester fucking nailed that song, once again! Brilliant!

  4. It is true. Every single post I read in this forum, it's all 'OMFG Mike is so awesome' or 'Mike should do more vocals than Chester (forgot what thread it was)' or stupid shit like 'Mike is the leader of the band' or 'Mike should replace Chester'. That pisses me off. There is no 'leader' of LP. It makes no sense to have Mike replace Chester when they don't even do the same roles in the band. I wouldn't even care that everyone is a die-hard Mike fan on this forum, but I when I express my opinions on why I don't like certain things such as ATS, forum members and EVEN MODS jump down my throat and gang up on me because I said something they don't like. At least on forums like LPA, the mods don't attack me because they disagree with my opinion.

Man, I'm a HUGE Chester fan, and I think that Chester is what made LP famous. There's no singer like him. BUT, he even recognized that LP is Mike's band. Check this interview : http://mikeshinodaclan.com/gallery/albums/...g18June11_8.jpg [left side of the page for the quote about Mike]

It's pretty much obvious that Mike is the leader of this band, whether we like it or not.

Anyway, I couldn´t watch the concert but I'll be waiting for the rip. Cool to hear that they did the piano cover of Rollin In the Deep. However, it's kind of sad that this is the only 'unexpected' change they've done during the whole ATS tour. We'll see if they do something different in Asia.

  5. Emmm well, I don't think they're gonna play ATS from beginning to end. I don't think they're going to play Robot Boy. I don't think they're gonna play an old song, and if they do, I wouldn't call that a 'surprise'.

Adele is playing the same festival in London a couple of days later, so I guess she may join LP to play "Rolling In the Deep." Can't think of anything else.
