  1. Another thing I want to mention is the fact that I just don't understand the logic behind giving someone a show and then telling them not to share it. Essentially what we've got here is the following situation:

Person A (taper) gives the show to Person B, and instructs Person B not to share it.

Person B gives the show to Person C (Biel), and likewise instructs them not to share it.

Essentially all that's happening here is a cycle of people trying to pass the "blame" off to someone else if the show ends up going into circulation (because heaven forbid other people get their hands on recordings and fulfill the entire purpose of a taping/trading community's existence!). If Biel posted the whole show, Person B would be all pissed off about it (and they'd have someone else to blame if Person A got mad at them about it), whereas if Person B posted the whole show, they'd only have Person A to answer to. And of course, if Person A posted the show, they'd somehow be a "hero" while the other 2 people who also have the show would somehow be viewed as doing something "wrong," despite the fact that all 3 of them would be doing the same thing. The logic behind this is really backwards, it's essentially putting more power in the hands of the person who gave the show away, not the person who received it. And that's why I'm so against the idea of sharing shows "conditionally" - I'm a firm believer that once somebody acquires a recording, it's just as much their property as it is the property of the person who gave it to them, and both parties involved should be fully entitled to do whatever they wish with it.

I also don't think being the taper of a show should have any bearing on what other people do with your recordings. If you don't want other people to share them, don't send them to other people in the first place (and preferably, don't tell anybody about your recordings in the first place if you don't intend to share them, because that just makes you look like an elitist douchebag to anybody with at least half a brain, and most people really don't care to know about how you spend your days masturbating to your hoarded recordings, kthx). Once you share a recording with someone else, you're immediately forfeiting any type of exclusivity associated with that recording, whether it winds up in the hands of 2 people or 20,000 people is totally irrelevant because you're the one who shared it in the first place.

seems true but doesn't add to the point, that this discussion (I don't mean sharing shows in general but sharing THIS show) shouldn't be held in public. As I said, i totally aggree with you: trading wouldn't piss me off that much without nft. So your theory is great.

But let's face the truth, there are still those barriers which prevent people from releasing stuff because they don't want to be the bad guy. They wouldn't be in your theory, but they are in real life, as long as we all don't change it. And this state is far far away. We can start a discussion about releasing all the stuff. In public. But discussing the downside of trading on Biel's back still isn't fair.

@xerotheory7803: I hope you'll get your recording of faint!

Just as I hope the show will be released some day... But this is not the right way to ask for it (not you, xerotheory7803, but this thread in the newswire in general.)

  2. I think it's really ridiculous how LPL uses it's power (meaning amount of people visiting it) to kinda force the people who have it to give it out.

I've always been on the site of "share all the shows we have so that everyone can see it" or at least "trading without nft" like Astat said. But it seems like sometimes there are reasons you can't share it, at least at that particular moment.

Even if he could share it it's still a shame YOU are askng for it, because there are a bunch of people in the LPLstaff who have shows which I'd love to see. I even started trading to get some of those shows. I don't blame you for not releasing every show, I'm sure everyone has his reasons not to, but I just wanted to mention it, seeing how you now try to play the angels vs devil game...

  3. What about talking and interacting?

And folks, sckofelng always got something to complain. Ticket prices, setlists, duration of the show, stage set-up...

    Don't take it too serious.

needless to say that you always praise what they're doing... <_< It's really annoying to come on here and the only thing that's going on in this topic is one fan beating the other for not liking/always liking what LP does. where's the point at this?

I don't like the setlist as well, it doesn't even tempt me a little bit. The structure seems bad to me. I can't really say it, but it seems like the worst encore I've seen to me. I'm happy for you who like it and are going to see them but I can agree with franticfreak's opinion, that you have to say that you don't like if you think so. And I think it's okay to be disappointed in LP. Not because they're doing what they like, I don't want them to do it any other way. But because you expected something different from a band which's always been your favourite band...

  4. Thanks for the links ^^ I f just listened to WID yet, but you can clearly tell that the voices are edited a lot. I'm wondering wether they reworked the whole vocals, because there's a lot of editing to hear, or if chesters performance was that bad?! Did someone attend the show and can report about it?

I gotta listen to the other songs now but I'm excited about the first 'real' recording!

edit: WFTE sounds less edited to me. perhaps because they don't have a lot of standard loops of the vocals atm :D

  5. Because this is the same as they will use for the Europe tour (which will have a shorter setlist). Later in the US I think they will replace 1 old song by 2 old songs, and they will add 2 or 3 new songs, which makes 18 songs.

I really think they will play full sets of 18-20 songs in Europe. Thay also did when they came here for MtM first. They never said they are going to play shorter sets in Europe or something like that so I guess it's pretty unlikely.

But your setlis prediction (the bet one) for today seems possible for me. And your wish setlist is cool! With You opening <3

  6. 90+ minutes? that's LP standard.

That's ok for "warming up". But I expect nearly 2 hour shows in 2011 now!

that's what I thought as well. Some people are going crazy like: oh, wtf, 90 minutes, so long?!?!

but that's like what most of their last two year's concerts lasted. I wouldn't expect too much if they say WE HOPE 90+, perhaps 94 because ATS songs are longer than the old ones?

It's cool anyway, because I was kinda annoyed of all those people flaming LP would shorten their sets even if they never said that. and some people from Hamburg's pre listening confirmed that they didn't say it... I guess it's all right now and everyone who's going can be happy to see a good LP-set ^^

  7. HELLO ADAM!!!

First, Thank You Adam for answering all these questions!

But I have another that you don't seem to be addressing. What about the INTERNATIONAL FANS???? They're a HUGE part of the LP fanbase and the big reason they joined was to get the package. In fact I'm pretty sure that's the reason most people join. M&Gs are like winning the lottery AND its not the whole band AND the band has to be playing nearby. USA fans bought LPU9 for the cd and shirt. We didn't get a tour in 2009 or 2010 so presale was useless for us.

I understand if you can't say anything, but this is our hard earned money we're dealing with. I can't in good conscience throw $60 at something, when I have no idea what I'll be receiving. In my mind the only people who should be buying this are those from NY/LA and those who have money/parents to buy it for them. So can you give us something that will encourage international fans to buy it?

didn't you get that he can't say anything about further content yet? just wait and see, there's nothing more you can do and no use in asking the same questions 1089723 times. You also even answered the question yourself by saying that he can't say anything so why are you still asking??...

Thanks for the answers @ Adam btw.

  8. will there still be a chance to get the LPU9 stuff Adam? I obviously was too slow renewing, because my membership is still active until february. Will there be shirts and the CD on the bandmerch LPU-store or in the LPU own LPUstore with the new CD and stuff?

  9. I'm seriously considering not renewing, am I 'noob' fan? Being a fan is not about money. I have to pay for my house and plenty of other things before LP. I need to live.

The fanclub was BADASS way back in 03, but recently not so sure. The last meet & greet I was at I ended up organising myself with two other members. Then the actual meeting of the band was a bit of a sham. These events don't cost the band anything and generally they're pointless for around 90% of the members.

Maybe if they gave free concert tickets out again it would seem more worth while...

Yes I see a few who have gone 'I'm paying $60 for the song' there is little to no other reason to give the LPU $60 dollars at this time. Yes you'll get benefits later, but I can pay for it later... It may be a great year for LPU but they've told the public nothing, so it could be the worst year too...

I'm totally on your site here! Just what I said, I wouldn't call me and others who can't/don't want to renew noobs...

And paying that much money without knowing what you get is - at least for some people - a tough step. I'm not one of the eveyrthing-was-better-in-the-past-people. But with LP it kinda was. I liked the fanclub, the shows, the M&G's and the shows better back then. But still everything is getting more expensive. and this is not just a little more expensive but a big price jump.

  10. I'm really dissappointed right now. I'm dissappointed in me, because I failed to get the LPU9 CD, thinking I could still renew in the next weeks, since I have a membership until February left. I'm dissappointed in the LPU for charging 60$ for an online membership. If you have to pay extra for the CD and Shirt and stuff that'd be hard but we don't know yet.

And I'm last but not least dissappointed in all the people bitching here and trying to defend this price and stuff. Hey, it's okay if you have a lot of money and want to spend it on this stuff, but don't mind other people who think it's too expensive, that's a subjective thing, so go and shut up if you don't have reasons to tell. I'm living in Germany and thus have enough money to pay the membership btu what about people from other countries with weaker money?

I'm also hoping that the LPU won't get nearly as much members as they had. But seeing a lot of people already preorded I think the new concept could work out.

Anyways, do what you want and stop bitching without reasons.

I'm out of LPU and probably won't get my LPU9 package either...

Makes sense to raise the costs. $10 a month or just get the $60 for a year. They've gotta have some revenue to do some cool shit for the fans. I know they're not just going to have a regular LPU this year - I'm sure they're going to use the extra money to do cool shit for the fans. So if it means I pay $30 more a year for more perks and a BADASS fanclub, I'll gladly do it. Can't afford it? That also might be a point. Wouldn't surprise me if they wanted to weed out a lot of the n00bier fans. I'm also fine with that...LPU has a lot of that...more M&G opportunities, etc for the regular members. That's just my 2 cents.

oh well, your so full of yourself man. now look at yourself, saying excluding the people who can't afford the package are the noobier fans. or do I have to write n00b to be on your noob-level? what the hell has money to do with being intelligent/a hardcore fan/an expert? I can't even be mad on you for writing something like that if I think of the politicians telling you people with less paid jobs aren't as important as the 'elite' with the big money. But I don't wanna start a political discussion here. But what you said is just superficial and conceited.

On another note I have to add that I don't see why a fanclub should make a lot of profit. Doesn't the band have enough money, because we all buy their CDs and go to their concerts and buy the merch, that they can give a little bit of it back to us?! I've already spend so much money on LP, but this is really too much for me now. In my opinion it seems like a fan-rip-off. And I don't know what they could offer to justify that price, but we'll see when it comes out.

  11. lol I really didn't know the clips on my harddrive were that rare and wanted. sorry for keeping them so long haha.

    anyways, enjoy the stuff!

I'd love to see LP back then, but I was just too young and into other music at that time...

  12. it's funny to see how EVERYONE bitches about the music taste of others. and everyone thinks he knows best about which genre has to sound like.

For me The Catalyst is no rocksong. Like I said, I wish it was but to me it's not. Perhaps rock is changing and LP is partly defining it?! If you look at an old description of rock, the single probably wouldn't fit so just stop discussing about wether it's rock or not. Rockstations and -charts just show, what people wanna hear. and if people listen to that music and accept it as rock then it's modern rock. it doesn't matter anyway.

And I can agree to and_light91 that LP should make the music they love. that's why I'm not angry or something like that, I can imagine that making kinda the same music for years is boring and that a band should play the music they like.

That's still no reason not to be sad or dissappointed if you liked LP's old style and were hoping for music in that direction. what's wrong about that? Or do I have to listen to it and like it just because it's from LP? NO!

We're still talking too much about it since the album hasn't come out yet. So nobody knows how their record will sound. I'm hoping for some more guitar and especially drum driven songs with emotional melodies. Because that's what LP did best in the past and what I wasn't able to find in that way from another band.

And I won't bother to say I don't like the album if I don't like it, just because it seems like some of the people here can't handle it. Or is there no place for constructive criticism and fans of other music than your taste here?

anyways, debuting as number one on charts is always nice for a band, but I'd rather like to see them on number 1 with another song.

  13. ROCK?

Catalyst is NOT rock music, LOL. That's hilarious. That's like saying The Beatles are rap.

indeed. I wouldn't call that rock as well. I wish I could but I can't. I'm not really happy LP gets this kind of music somehow validated by the fans. because most of the old school fans who are most into metal and probably rock and made LP big don't wanna hear music like that. at least that's the reaction of the people I talked to. People who don't really listen to LP even asked me if they are doing a techno record right now after seeing the gametrailer of MoH.
  14. am I kind of a contributor now? haha ;D

I was just too busy to go through all the stuff I had and so didn't recognize the cool stuff. I'm happy sck found it now. Good old LP. seems even more valuable if I look at the catalyst and the direction LP probably goes >.<

  15. Sorry, but it is. Read the interviews Mike has done. Album is beat driven and has a keyboard/drum machine feel. Very electronic.

that's why I'm afraid. I wouldn't be afraid if there wasn't such a big chance of it beeing too electronic for me. I don't mind electronic music. So it depends on HOW electronic it is and the style of the music in general. I'll not judge it until I've heard the whole album, LP never failed to amaze me with their music. But it could happen this time.

we'll see... I've read enough, you will never be able to say anything about an album by just reading interviews.

  16. the BILD-article is also speaking of a world-tour! Although BILD is known for inventing stories in Germany, this article seems pretty legit (especially because of the picture and the topic... there'd be no need to invent a story about LP here). so there's a good chance for the album beeing released in September if they say so. And probably a world-tour, so be prepared American/Asian etc. fans ;)
