I was actually lucky enough to be at Skive Beach Party right after this. I remember not checking setlists before this, and being blown away by songs like APFMH opening and Runway coming back. In 2008 I saw Reading My Eyes there too. Guess I was blessed.

You luck bastard. Those specific european summer shows didn't get a proper professional release for whatever reason until Milton Keynes (aside of Madrid and Lisboa) that didn't included RME. You got to experience some great perfomances throughout the years over there

I always saw LP as a very bureaucratic band. Not having fun on the stage, not talking much with the public. Just very professional and solid.

LP 2.0 is waaaay more fun, loose, organic, spontaneous.

Either you saw Brad in 2015 walking around the stage OR you didn't actually saw him his early 20s jumping and moving like a mad man during Forgotten.

No that shit again, I thought we have moved on. LP has always been energetic and having fun.

  2. RTN was literally everywhere around 2005-06, the NBA Live 06 videogame was one of my favorites and I couldn't stop listening to it. And yes I was one of those that for years I didn't make the LP/FM connection, wasn't even aware of SOB being involved until a couple of years later.

I'm forever grateful for this record, I'm even more grateful for all the awesome and incredible B-Sides I discovered since then. Tools of the Trade is one of my favorite Mike related tracks.

Speaking of Mike, he forgot to post the celebration yesterday and he just did it a couple of moments ago lol

Labels still have the power to block streams depending on their marketing strategy.

And this, potentially and likely, also means why we will still not get something like RAR 07 for a possible MTM 20 release (hopefully I'm wrong)

People still underestimate how much power big mainstream labels have over artists, even with a massive band like LP.

Sigh, my unrealistic expectations of them going independent are still alive and well.

So as LIVING THINGS, A Thousand Suns, One More Light, RECHARGED were all Mike's. The only project that the band were really involved in the process were Hybrid Theory, Meteora (thanks to Don Gilmore for making back to back hits) and Minutes to Midnight. First 3 records feels more like the band really worked hard to make a great record. Plus, From Zero feels more like a group effort which is great.

    What.

Aside of a 'few' funny sentences, since THP all of their albums have been self-produced.

I've already said this in the chat and in other topics.

I don't see a problem with the band making these old shows available on a streaming page for purchase.

At least from 2000-2004, since we already had the HT20 and M20 box sets.

Thousands of fans would love to see shows like that.

    Who here wouldn't pay $20 to $30 to watch a never-before-seen proshot?

Imagine a show from Reading 2003, Rock in Park 2001, Download Festival 2004, Dragon Festival 2001, Docklands 2001 (Master Tape), Detroit Theatre 2003, etc...

These are just a few examples.

I would pay to watch them.

Here's a quick and simple calculation: if each show were sold for $20, and I'm making a quick calculation that only 5,000 people in the world buy just one show, that would be a return of $100,000 for just one show that's sitting unused in the band's coffers.

I know the band is a millionaire and is looking at a new phase.

But hey, this is so simple to do, and hundreds, thousands of fans, even those who like the new phase, would certainly be very happy and would pay to watch these shows.

Another detail: I'm almost certain the band already has their shows digitized.

    I would buy them all.

The 2007-2012 shows from what I recall were free if you attended them by giving you a code. I think that was the only way to get them legally (it's been almost 13 years since the last one in South Africa, my memory is fuzzy). I do remember some shows/songs not being available due to legal or other issues, especially Wisdom, Justice & Love which included a MLK sample.

Not a lawyer by any stretch of the imagination but there's multiple layers of reasons preventing from that to ever happen, sadly. We're all blessed with these Pinkpop perfomances, even if some ended up being incomplete (sigh). I fucking wish the Download or Rock am Ring YT page would dare to do something similar out of nowhere, but.. 😟

    Bit selfish ngl

Same 'selfish' dude who filmed the Lockout video with the band? Not implying Felipe owns the footage like that guy named Marc, of course he doesn't, but he has worked his ass off for over 20 years asking and begging for those tapes, the selfish ones are some of those original owners who probably and realistically would not lose any credibility or their jobs if they were going to give it away, especially the big shows.

  6. Great show from what I saw online.

Anyway, I'm not surprised by the obvious new accounts coming here to stir the poit only because they're extremely attached to a famous guy who passed 8 years ago and still not understanding the situation and how everyone has dealt with his loss properly like mature adults. I am though let down (no pun intended) by a long time user speaking out like a newcomer.

Why does the whole THP era feel strange to you?

You needed to be there at the time but if you look up pretty much any interview on YT from some band members, especially Mike, he came off as if he was trying to prove something with the album like if they wouldn't had made any heavy songs before. I didn't mind it but at times it was too damn much, so much 3 years later they made their poppiest/softest record ever. You didn't need to prove anything, you needed to make a good record, which apparently they failed (kinda) to do as promised they made that album to be played live.

Maybe I'm cherry picking with some words but I still have a big gripe with that era.

  8. I'm paying 9,99$ so I'm not complaining, but I do wish we've had better perks like back then. If they're gonna release any LPU CD it's gonna be new stuff (FZ demos), anything involving Chester makes a crap ton of money so Warner is keeping it for anniversary/compillations only I assume.

I did not know that. Wow, Wtf?

I found out that information a couple of days after the album came out. The band kinda mentioned him in some interviews but they didn't make too much noise about it. Like, the legendary guy who mixed your 2 biggest records of your entire catalogue? Would be pretty logical to properly credit him, it was somewhat odd, the entire THP era still feels off to me anyway.

Easier To Run is not a bad song, but for me it is the weakest song on Meteora.

I totally get why the band might think it's a bit too melodramatic but it's still a decent song, really like the synths/ambient sounds, Mike/Joe have always nailed them.

The last proper show the band played in the city was at Madison Square Garden in February 2011 on the A Thousand Suns World Tour. This show is legendary amongst fans for the proshot recording released by FUSE TV and the epic setlist the band played, specifically changing things up for the night, including tracks like 'Blackout' and 'When They Come For Me' as an encore opener from the new album, as well as including plenty of fan favorites like 'No More Sorrow,' 'From The Inside,' and 'Lying From You' in the mix. While most remember this show for the epic setlist, this one holds a particularly special place in my heart - this show was the first concert I ever went to! While it set me off on a path I'd never financially recover from, it certainly made its mark on my little 11-year old self, because here I am!

Wait, in 2011 you were 11? You are a 2000 child? No way LMAO (never realized it until I saw your public bio here) damn I feel so old. I was still a teenager when I saw that awesome show and been following the band for over 6 years at the time.

  11. I definitely hear some AI/enhanced bullshit on Faint but also some legit audio directly from the original recording. At this point it would be a lot easier to create multitrack samples straight from Joe's vinyl.

    I'd guess 5 footage for MTM20

    - SS06 (so dreamed of by fans) I can't wait to see "Reading My Eyes," which would still leave a discreet way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Xero tape. Just a tip 😉

    - Two for 2007
    - Two for 2008.

The 2008 shows have great set lists.

Can't answer the original comment as it seems that it's gone 🤨

But, aside of the obvious shows (for whatever reason I still don't consider SS '06 a MTM show BUT that perfomance took place during the making of the record so..) I would add a 2008 European date where they randomly played RME. I've always wondered why they didn't release any professional audio recording from those specific shows.

That massively sped up Crawling has to be one of the worst-sounding things they have ever done live. The 2014 setlists were a total mess with the shortened DJ-style songs. Goodness.

Why in the world would you speed the song up that much?

Good god I half forgot about this.

I still have my big gripes with that whole era, don't make me throw more crap onto it. Still really enjoy some of those perfomances but that type of shit is why I enjoyed the short OML ride so goddamn much in comparison. Why play those songs just to short them up? Get rid of them if you really don't enjoy it at that point (don't care if they're the big singles and they were somewhat obligated to play them, felt so odd to hear it that way).

The great tragedy here is one that I also feel as a fan - seeing the countless Chester fans spewing the most unjustified and hateful shit makes me sometimes lose sight of what Chester himself was: an amazing man who would have 100% loved seeing LP 2.0 flourish.

We all have our own 'what ifs' moments for anything that we appreciate and love, I've definitely had my thoughts on how Chester would've handled the pandemic and (probably) and realistically quit making public appereances and potentially generally quitting music just to focus on his own well mental being. I 2000% see him support Emily and the rest of the band to keep going without him, my heart says there's no question about it.

Besides that I can't add much to the topic. Social media/online has ruined a lot of things thinking it's how real life works and it's how people deal with loss. Not surprised. The more we ignore the obvious "small" noise the better, they did it Mike on Twitch 5 years ago, they're not gonna change their pathethic shitty childish mindset now. Loved Mike's PT era, loved his 2015 FM stuff too before that (can't wait for the 20th anniversary this year perhaps), I support anything positive that comes out of this.

LP committed to release a heavy and raw rock record knowing that the market was not going to reward it commercially and they did it for the reasons Mike talked about.

And then 3 years later they released their poppiest record. Like someone said, it was a visceral marketing made it that way on purpose to fit the themes of the album and there's 0 wrong with all of it, it's the way Mike phrased with certain statements that came off a bit eye rolling, They already made very loud and heavy tracks at the time, there was other ways to promote the album IMO.

2014 Mike is one of LP's biggest blunders, for sure. That was embarrasing.

I vividly remember pretty much watching/reading all THP interviews at the time, I was enjoying the record (still do to a certain degree) until Mike "farted" those cheesy thoughts out of nowhere for the sake of getting easy headlines I assume lol. God forbid I still have a small grudge with the way he potrayed himself at that time or other times they might've said something stupid. It's not holding anyone accountable, it's mostly nitpicking certain things that I find annoying, that's it.

  16. I'm not a festival person so this is great news if they keep headlining non-festival dates, I wonder why they didn't do them as much with Chester (at least from memory). I'm going next year, I'll be in the LPU Pit, my first time as a very long time fan! With a bit of (10%) luck I'll get a hat from Mike lol

Well well well looking out for those who said they wouldnt tour in Spain. They literally had promo in Madrid, it was an obvious call.

Will make sure to buy the tickets, doubt they will sell out tho, fan base is not huge in Spain

    22 hours ago, bloodbath said:

The Spain LP community is small but noisy. Unfortunately, LP here is still viewed as a 2004 band, and many people who liked back then just see them as a nostalgia act.

From what I've read they did play 3 shows early on in 2001 with Deftones, '03, '08, the MTV show in 2010 and 2017, that's it. I might understand their frustation but they somewhat stopped being popular there since MTM even if there's still a small loud minority who likes them.
