  1. Excellent news! Loving this tour, and I'd personally love to see Mike hit Australia, They haven't had an LP related show since 2013 so they are long overdue. A South American tour would also be cool, those crowds are insane. Look how they reacted when LP was there in 2017.

Yes Mike definitely needs to come back to Australia sometime soon. The Living Things tour was the last time LP was here so it has felt like ages.

  2. So did Mike actually state in a interview that he wanted to tour Australia? Because from listening to the latest Member Guest podcast he didn't sound very impressed with the whole bot voting situation. He probably thinks we're a bunch of dishonest losers not that I blame him.

  3. LP recorded everything for over 10 years so I bet they are recording Mike, yeah. Mike was likely the one that even said to start doing that in the MTM era. With how involved he was with DSPs (mixing some with Pooch, downloading random ones and sending feedback to Pooch, etc) I bet he has them recording his shows. He's the tech guru of the band.

Geki is right, it's going to be hard to find a better one than NYC. I have no doubt Europe, Asia, and South America will have some great crowds. They always do. All those places kick ass. But the fact that it was a 500 person venue, the entire crowd was diehard as fuck... hardcore fans and almost all LPU... wow. So loud and an incredible show. Would love that released too. I'm stoked for the tour to start up in August because the shows will be really good; once he gets in a vibe of playing almost every night the shows are going to get even better.

Mike has a lot of stuff up his sleeves I'm sure. He's unpredictable - in a good way. I bet he releases the Post Traumatic instrumentals/acapellas soon. He is also working on a substantial amount of new music already and is in a very big creative drive. All this traveling is giving him a lot of time to make music (he talked at Apple how he's writing every single day). He gets a month off and gets back to his home studio next week... I would not be surprised if we saw some new music in 2019 from him. There's no "3 year process" to go through with LP here, it's all an independent artist who can do what he wants.

Then he has potential live stuff he can release, etc. Lots of possibilities. LPU CD could be extra Mike songs, who knows. I think we are just seeing the beginning of a big flow of material from him - just my opinion. I'm excited. And LP is going to be back too sometime.

I really hope so. I was confident LP will be back eventually one day, but just based on recent interviews with Mike things don't seem so certain anymore. Hope I'm wrong though.

  4. Ha, I laughed at this because you've been asking for more Mike solo material for ages. And here it is, and it's fucking awesome.

Yesterday when they announced he was releasing new music, I was anxious. There is new music and there's no Chester around. Maybe that's a natural emotion to feel... who knows, there's no handbook for how to deal with this. Also, like, "new music by Mike and they haven't said anything about LP?"

Mike has said a lot of stuff since July 20th that has resonated with me and for that I am grateful. The comment he made at the Hollywood Bowl that said like, "you never know when it (grief) can take a left on you" hit me really hard. There was another one in Kerrang about the 10/27 show that said, "when someone like Chester passes away, it hits that group of fans really, really hard." Just the fact he acknowledged it is big, like he knows what we're going through (obviously, I mean it's probably 10x worse for him). The last six months have been pretty much a living hell for a lot of people, myself included. It's been rough.

I didn't know what to think, like if the songs would be singing, rapping, a mixture, what genre, etc. I am very... shocked at what I hear, in a good way. The music is fantastic. Over Again might be one of the best things to ever come out of the LP camp. Leave it to Mike to take something so catastrophically disastrous and turn it into music that people will resonate with. I said earlier today that you didn't know you needed something sometimes until you have it.

The videos are intense, the lyrics are incredibly intense. Mike has put everything out there, laid out all of his emotions, all of his raw feelings. I'm proud of him and respect him for laying it all out there like that.

The comment he made about LP is fantastic. And then he said he wants to play shows with this stuff, and has more music (much more) to release. Damn. I'm thankful that his way of grieving is to make more music, or better put, one of his biggest outlets OUTSIDE of Linkin Park is to make more music instead of golfing, surfing, etc. Crazy.

The reason you're seeing so many comments across all of social media, Reddit, fansites, etc, literally everywhere that says they are so god damn proud of Mike and are so supportive of LP continuing eventually, etc is awesome. Literally every STP post has been a disaster since Chester joined (and now Gutt) and people have trashed them. Linkin Park has treated their fans with the utmost respect since day one and have made them a big priority. The band being so in touch with the fanbase by doing M&Gs at every show, interacting with them online all the time, etc has really created a unique scenario in terms of a LARGE band and its fanbase. In an interesting comparison, the fans have the the band's back, but the opposite is true as well.

No one in music wore their heart on their sleeve like Chester did. The man is an iconic legend and I miss him greatly. Huge shoutout to Mike and much respect from me for him putting his emotions on his sleeve for the world here. I'm excited for more. He/LP honors Chester in every single thing they have done since 7/20 and for that, I'm thankful.

Everything you've said in your post is exactly how I'm feeling. I had mixed emotions about Mike releasing new music, there were so many thoughts going through my head some that you had mentioned in your post-music with no Chester, the future of Linkin Park. But I'm grateful Mike has shared with all of us his emotions and feelings through his music.

  5. It seems like fans are like pissed or something and care more about their ''favorite band'' not being a thing anymore than Chester's passing. It's just a band. There are tons of bands out there. Tons of music to listen to. Linkin Park had a good run. Appreciate the memories you have with Linkin Park and that you were able to be a part of it all. And I'm not saying that the band won't continue, they likely will. But on the off chance that they don't, could you blame them? Fans are really kind of being selfish about it. They don't owe you anything. They have put out seven fucking albums - tons of music.

I mean, the thing is, that I've never understood about this site's community, is that everyone can have their own opinion. I can have mine and you can have yours. A lot of times here it seems like you kind of have to agree with the general opinion or else you're kind of bullied about it. I also never said people care MORE about the band continuing than Chester's death, but that people seem like it's something that you can simply just overcome. It affected the band immensely on a business level, not only an emotional level. It will be very very hard to continue on, which is why I laid out a few options. If they plan on being able to tour the world and sell out the huge venues that they did with Chester, they'll absolutely need a new vocalist who can handle both the singing and screaming that Chester did in the past. They could find a guy who could do it, just look at all the vocalist in the metalcore and metal world, etc. It won't be the same but they can do that. If they continue as a 5 piece, it would be very much different, let's be realistic. That's why when people like JZE said they can't simply continue with Mike as the lead singer, I agreed. But these Japanese shows in a few months time are at huge venues... are they going to find a replacement before that? They'll surely have to rehearse a shit on and welcome this person into the band before then.

It looks like you just contradicted yourself. And to me LP are not just another band, they are more than that.

  6. To be honest, I don't know why they should change their name seriously?

We know that Chester was a huge part of LP and made the difference between LP with or without him. But Linkin Park is not just a band. Linkin Park is a damn big brand and as commercial as it sounds you can't just change a big brand such as LP.

Of course commercial matters are never above tragedies but the name "Linkin Park" is still their live even though they just named themselves after Chester joined.

Yeah exactly I don't see any reason why they would change their name if they decide to continue on.

Chester is irreplaceable and its heartbreaking knowing we will never ever see him up on stage with the band again or hear his voice on new songs.

  7. For me Chester is irreplaceable, the chemistry they all shared together is not some thing you can just create overnight. But I do want to see LP continue. We've already lost Chester, not having LP in my life in some kind of shape or form will hurt. It's also nice to know lplive is staying.

  8. I can not believe this is happening, I've been crying all morning and still crying while reading this post. So sorry that Chester could not overcome his demons and felt that suicide was the only answer, he will be truly missed. Condolences to his family, friends, Brad, Joe, Phoenix, Mike and Rob, I can only imagine what they are going through.

LP have been a part of my life for over 15 years so this just breaks my heart. As someone said in one of the earlier posts, what now... I am going to miss all that. I've never followed a band with as much passion as LP and now there is a void I don't think will ever be replaced. LP and Chester will forever be in my hearts and never forgotten.

  9. "Don't you come back no more"? ....as in... no more, no more, no more, no more, hit the road Jack?

Wow. Still excited for the song though.

I get what they're doing here, releasing the lyrics first to keep in line with the whole "these came first!" thing. The lyrics aren't as amazing as they made it seem like they would be though.

Haha that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the chorus.

  10. Oh man. It's becoming more clear every day that this is not going to be an album for me. The good news is that with all the info and leaks trickling in, I am being let down softly rather than all at once on release day.

If they wanted to go the pop route, I was hoping for something along the lines of Purity Ring, Chvrches, The Weeknd, or Bruno Mars. Instead it looks like we're getting material reminiscent of Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, and Twenty One Pilots.

I'm still holding out some hope for OML, Talking to Myself, and Sorry for Now because I quite enjoyed what I've heard of those songs so far.

Such a sad state of affairs for someone that has been following the band since 2000 and has loved most of the bands output since. Well, I guess 17 years wasn't a bad run eh? Better than most!

This is probably the most balanced and thoughtful "I won't like this album" post I have seen. Thank you for giving me hope for this fanbase :P

For what it's worth, Ross Golan wrote the song 'One More Light' too, so maybe this one will surprise you.

    Haha so true!

  11. Okay i agree it' s better but you can' t deny that Heavy could fit on LT easily.

If they kept releasing stuff like HT they'd probably be totally irrelevant now like Korn, changing kept them alive and interesting, even if it s obvious that, as you said, they can't please everyone.

    Yep agree.

  12. What surprises me is that we still have the "RIP LINKIN PARK" brigade after all this time. I thought they'd all jumped ship after ATS. I don't even remember Burn It Down getting this much hate for being "pop garbage". I wonder what makes it different.

This song is getting more attention because of Kiiara being featured.

Other than that I don't know. BID did have a heavier (no pun intended) sound and a rap verse from Mike, but it's definitely in pop territory.

Also in reference to ATS, I'll never understand all the hate that album receives. ATS is a damn good album.

Exactly good points. I guess LP can't please everyone there will always be haters, had they kept on releasing music for the last 15 years or so which sounded like HT I'm pretty sure there would be people complaining about them making the same music.
