Not gonna lie, the idea of Chester rapping sounds pretty cringeworthy to me.

This is Mike's band, what he wants to do is what they do. Unfortunately, for me at least, Mike seems to enjoy making radio friendly pop songs right now. It is what it is.

Sounds terrible...which is exactly what I expect from this record.

The song is total garbage.

I just can't understand why they would go in this direction. Why team up with outside song writers? Why take a complete 180 from the last record? This has Shinoda and Brad written all over it.

Man, it's almost sad how they went from being so creative to just making this generic stuff. I mean, you take Twenty One Pilots for example, the LP influence is undeniable, but they are like a really commercial, generic 2017 version of what LP used to be. And now the band is being influenced by it, with Chester saying they're his favorite band on Twitter and whatever.

 

This thing sounds like a midlife crisis all over, the lyrics are so lame, the whole thing just sounds so plastic idk. If they wanna make pop stuff, i don't have a problem with that, I actually like the idea, but make it good for god's sake. They are so talented and have acces to an infinite amount of resources and equipment and yet they are making a shittier copy of their own copy, I just can't get my head around it.

The instrumental sounds muddy and poorly mixed, it has no element that stand out. It's like they opened up ableton or whatever DAW and just used a bunch of presets and factory sounds.

 

I can't seem to find a reason they would go for this sound, they already have an enormous fanbase, they can do whatever they want, experiment with all sorts of elements and what not and people are gonna support it. I mean, maybe they did it this way because they actually like it but I don't buy it. I don't know.

The reason to go this route is simple....it's sells.

I've been ripping the song all day, but I have to admit, that live piano version is pretty good. Chester and Kiiara sound great together.

Were Dave, Joe, and Rob joking when they said it was nice to meet Kiiara? They recorded a song with her and half of the band didn't meet her?

I'm sure they were serious. LP is run by Mike. Him, Brad, and Chester write all of the songs and decide what direction the band is going.

I love Shinoda, but he's being delusional. This is the epitome of a radio friendly pop song.

The rest of the album is going to be more of the same. Shinoda said it himself. They've really lost their way this time.

Mike says 'Heavy' is a great representation of what the album sounds like. Cool, so the album is full of generic pop songs. Can't wait.

Shinoda runs the show with LP. He wants to make different music every album to a fault. Generic pop songs are not the route most LP fans wanted them to take.

This song is garbage. What a disappointing way to start things off. Chester sounds horrible in the opening verse...much better in the chorus. Kiiara sounds awesome...should have been her song.

This song is such an obvious attempt at getting on the radio. Really disappointed in the direction of this.

Honestly, some of you will go crazy. I matter what they put out. I get it, but that's not me.

Let's be honest, they wrote a record in THP that wasn't received great, and didn't sell great either. So they decided to go back to a BID type tune to appeal to the masses again. I get it, I just don't like it. Maybe the rest of the record is different. Who knows.

So now we're comparing LP to Timberlake and Maroon 5?? That's who you think they fit in with. Because that's ridiculous.

These are grown men with families, writing pop songs. I hope the rest of the album is different. I shouldn't be surprised, it was obvious they would go this route after THP.

Sounds cool, but is all this really necessary? Outside of the hardcore fan base, nobody will ever see or hear these clips. And the fan base would be all over a new single and album anyway. I just don't understand all the mystery. You've got some new music? Great, put it out.
