  1. I get that, as fans, we aren't owed anything from the band or management. Still, though, it seems odd that there's never been an official update on these remixes. Even if the update is "Sorry guys, after some reflection we've decided to put the release of any further HT remixes on hold indefinitely," would have worked. It would still be disappointing, but it would be something to keep us informed.

It feels weird to be told to expect more remixes to be on the way and then complete silence for nearly two years, leaving us to say "I guess the project was scrapped?"

Maybe for ATS anniversary they will release Blackbirds on other platforms. Currently it is available only on one platform - iTunes/Apple Music.

My mistake. Sort of odd it would be only on iTunes and Apple Music. They should release it on other platforms, it’s a great song.

Yeah but it was recorded during Minutes To Midnight's sessions.

True but, chronological order of the recording aside, I don’t think they would release that song as a bonus track for MTM since it’s already released on all platforms as a bonus track for ATS.

It was not us as the site, that's for sure. I'd absolutely tell you if we bought it - we did not buy it.

Yet according to Geki you guys have had all kinds of unheard music and unreleased pro-shot shows in the LPL vault for years LOL

No but seriously, if someone really spent $10,000 instantly on that tape it's either an LP superfan, who may not be excited to publicly share what they just spent $10k on, or it was a member of the band itself or the label.

I feel like I've become the "Beatles analogy guy" in recent years, but I'm going to do it again now: In 1981, a guy wanted to auction off the only recording of the first ever song recorded by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison. When we talk about holy grails, that was definitely one. McCartney personally intervened and bought it for a hugely inflated price and had the audio restored as much as possible, and then had additional copies made. The song was eventually released on the Anthology project. It's not a great song and the audio quality still isn't great, but for historical value it's really cool to hear.

Similar to Pictureboard and Deftest, I would say... Would be cool if it turns out something like that happened.

  5. I would be saddened, but not shocked, if the ‘celebration’ consists solely of all LP related socials posting a message like “Come celebrate Meteora’s 20th birthday with brand new merch in the LP store! Use code (whatever) for 20% off your order!”

I would love another boxset, but I think Warner and possibly even LP themselves underestimate demand for these things. Didn’t the band have to basically be talked into doing HT20? Then Warner didn’t even produce enough boxsets at first because they vastly underestimated demand.

If they felt that way about Hybrid Theory, they genuinely may not even be considering a Meteora 20 boxset at this point.

i know Mike should do what he wants to do, but in the last years his collabs were boring.

I miss the feeling of something BIG.

I think that Mike is in a "I'm 45 now, so I'll use my status now to collaborate with younger artists and elevate them" phase.

I get what he's doing, he's trying to be selfless. That's a great thing. I just also wish he would collab with someone huge and well known again, rather than just trying to use his star power to elevate unknown artists. I realize that sounds harsh, but it's true lol.

I don’t think I meant to say it as “He didn’t remember”, I think I actually meant to say is that he “doesn’t remember”.

I understand, that makes sense. It's great you were able to make contact with him and get this information at all! There's still a lot that we don't know about that time period.

I wish he would stop this and release anything similar through a different medium.

I think it's sad that we've reached a point where a new project by Mike only gets responses by 4 different people in 8 days.

Some of the people who have been mainstays of LPL, who have always been here and involved with every LP and LP related project, have stepped back more and more since the NFT stuff started.

Don't remember which show was but I remember the "general concept" and that's great yeah. LP never wrote negative lyrics just for the sake of it, with messages encouraging suicide or stuff like that, even some of the darkest sings like GU, ETR or BTH have some idea of positivity and try to share uplifting messages. I mean, GU is very dark but it's an outlet of "I can't take this situation anymore" but Chester is clearly venting that shit out in order to feel a bit of relief

Yeah when I was a teenager my parents used to always ask me why I like depressing angry music lol. It really is like therapy, it's cathartic and it's a release.

  10. Does anyone remember which show it was that Mike talked about critics complaining about how negative LP’s music was?

I think it was one of his early solo shows, so it was in 2018. The quote was something along the lines of “it’s not about being negative, it’s about getting all that negativity out so that you can turn it into something positive”.

That’s probably a bad paraphrasing but I remember seeing a video of it and I remember it being a pretty great quote, and now I can’t find it.

I am afraid of a future where the proper versions are erased from the internet. How does no one at the band, management or label care about this issue? No Roads Left sounds like a joke.

I still can stream the originals, but only because I bought the album on iTunes when it was first released in 2007.

I can't even put into words how bad the "alternate" version of NRL sounds, and the synths on the "alternate" SOTD sound super obnoxious and loud to me when compared to the original release.

😂😂 yeah an unthinkable low with meanwhile MTM going platinum everywhere a few months after the release and WID crowned as one of the most successful rock songs of the decade 😂😂😂
The weirdest thing is MTV treats LP like Maroon 5, a band obsessed by success and “oh no our song wasn’t #1 it’s a failure” when they did stuff like ATS and THP that basically were a giant “Don’t give a fuck about mainstream music” lol. If LP were bothered by not winning the award they wouldn’t have done ATS after MTM for sure

I mean it is MTV. That's why they acted like appearing on TRL and winning a VMA were the pinnacles of a music career, those are both MTV produced shows.

I guess a lot of artists do think that way, that if they aren't #1 on the charts and all over MTV then they're irrelevant, but LP definitely didn't. They knew they had fans who were willing to go on that journey of different styles with them.

I thought it was a little weird how Minutes To Midnight was depicted as a failure because they lost a VMA to Fall Out Boy. lol

The cut from "The winner is Fall Out Boy" to a shot of Chester sitting with his head in his hands made me literally laugh out loud.

As if that was LP's rock bottom, losing a VMA to Fall Out Boy. That was their "unthinkable low".

Crazy but expected that Mike would get thrown in the dirt around here for no reason.

We all know he always hated releasing things that are not perfect, and even more after 2017.

Plus he just recently explained on stream how these things work. Mike can't unilaterally decide "I'm going to release whatever we still have in the vault from the Meteora era".

Decisions like that involve LP's management, their label, the rest of the band, etc. It's weird when people act like Mike is doing all he can to block anything from being released in order to spite the fans lol. Like how would that thought process even work?

  15. 4 hours ago, LPLivesWorstNickname92 said:

Totally agree on this, it’s a new chapter and Mike stepped up as a singer a lot. I don’t want to write down set lists or stuff like that but we all know Mike can sing a lot of post Meteora songs on his own and the crowd can support him with classics like ITE, faint etc.

The retirement of songs they can’t perform at all without Chester (BTH, BID, ND...) is not a problem, it’s a new phase

Yes. I just hope the band don't think of it like "If we play live and Mike can't belt it out like Chester could on ND or scream the bridge of Faint, is it even an LP show anymore?" because the answer would still be yes. However modified the live shows would have to be and however any future music would sound, those 5 guys could continue on the LP name with the understanding that while the era of Chester Bennington is over, they can still honor his memory.

I believe people were also saying in 2020 for 2021. So basically everyone wanted an album no matter what asap.

I get that, but the only way i could ever accept LP coming back is with MS as lead.

I hate it when bands get new vocalist, to me it will be a completely different band. Tough times ahead

I mean, I personally think they should have Mike as the sole vocalist now so I agree with that. Even if it means future LP songs won't have screaming anymore, that's fine. That would be part of LP being in a new era, etc.

I don't even think they need to get a touring vocalist to do Chester's parts. I would rather them just retire a lot of stuff, have the audience sing (ITE, OSC, BIO, etc.), and have Mike sing what he can. Mike can pull off pretty much anything from OML and a decent amount of stuff from the past. If it came down to it, I would prefer them using playback for Chester's vocals rather than brining someone brand new into the band. That's just my personal feelings on it.

If LP returning with Mike as the only vocalist would mean retiring songs like Faint and others that can't be pulled off by Mike or the crowd, that's fine.

Oh I can see it, but I was never big on the songs order on MTM, like the Valentine’s Day to LTGYA sequence, but it’s my own personal view

Yeah I can see it being something LP thought would be cool and different that turned out, over time, to not be as cool as they thought it would be lol

Thats just the thing you have no idea if they “ are ready “ its just the fan in you talking. I dont blame you, but Im just saying. Remember when the fan base were saying 2020 should be the year they release a new album ? LOL.

They have lost their lead singer, if they dont come back ever i dont blame them as it wont be the LP you remember.

The entire world shut down in March 2020, so I think expectations were recalibrated at that time for anything LP related. Everything in the world came to a halt. Anything LP were working on wouldn't have been an exception to that.

I wouldn't "blame them" either if they did decide to end LP, but I also feel like if that was the decision they arrived at they would have said it by now. Instead, they've literally said the opposite and said LP is not done.

Of course LP can't return as the LP we remember. Chester is gone. It's going to be different no matter what. I think we should all be open to that, though. Nothing that LP does in the future would ever change what they did from 1999-2017. That is a legendary music career and one of the best runs in history in my opinion. That era is over, though. The only way to move forward for them is to look at it as a completely new beginning. It's not about comparisons or trying to replicate the past.

In my head GU and BIO should have been consecutive, LOATR between the 2 is quite weird, it’s like Victimized between COG and RU

According to Mike, they did that on purpose because the band wanted a roller coaster dynamic on the album. They talked about it on stage at the iHeart 2014 show.

Can somebody tell me the story of hardly breathe?

No way the band just made that for that rock and roll song.

I asked Mike on Twitch if he and Chester's parts for that song, which would include Hardly Breathe, were old demos (LP or otherwise) or if they were made specifically for that song.

He said they were made specifically for that song.

EDIT: Just realized that lpliveusername already answered this and linked to Mike's exact quote lol.
