  1. At first I was like =\

    Then I was like \o/

The second time around really was amazing. I had doubts the first time. I heard "my" epic favorites, then the second time around the less aggressive songs became awesome. If only I could have the Blackout single until 9/14 or Wretches and Kings.

  2. I will add that Blackout is odd because where TC accomplishes basically mashing two songs together, Blackout somewhat fails. Both parts are great just very very odd together. You'll shit bricks when you hear this song. If you don't know what "The Great Destroyer" is by NIN, find it.

  3. If you're going to cross post this to LPA / LPT give me credit fools.

    http://thelivemonty.blogspot.com/2010/08/thousand-suns.html

FIRST: When you hear the CD, listen to it all the way through, and make sure it's loud. Trust me. It's better.

SECOND: Here's what other people thought: Everyone accepted that it was a different approach. A lot of people made the connection though that some songs have those "old" and "hardcore" Hybrid Theory elements to them. A lot of people said it reminded them of that. On the other hand, the head of WB records said he noticed the CD was more of a "pushing the envelope" record instead of stepping back and incorporating old elements.

THIRD: Please play this CD loud.

FOURTH: Some of the songs we heard twice: Waiting for the End. Blackout. Wretches and Kings. Wisdom, Justice, and Love, Iridescent, The Requiem, The Radiance, Burning in the Skies.

    1. The Requiem - This song is funny because it's actually Mike singing. I'm not saying what he sounds like, but when you hear it and think "Mike Shinoda" you can't help but laugh.

    2. The Radiance - Interlude, kind of meh.

    3. Burning In The Skies - This song. This song caught me from the start. The lyrics are real deep (to me) and I still remember them: "Swimming through the smoke of the bridges I have burned / Dont apologize / I'm losing what I don't deserve"

    4. Empty Spaces - Another interlude. Sounds of crickets and marching and gun battles (like civil war)

    5. When They Come For Me - I don't remember this song much but Chester had some amazing lyrics going on in this song.

    6. Robot Boy - A really strong song. Mike sings in this one and its kind of like hes yelling at a little kid. 7. Jornada Del Muerto - An interlude. Kind of depressing because I was looking forward to this song a lot.

    8. Waiting For The End - The next single. Kind of forgot about this song now though. =\

    9. Blackout - Dear god. Chester screams his face off in this song. Its amazing. The last part of the song is awkward though on first listen. It transitions into a different sound and you think its the next track, but isn't.

    10. Wretches And Kings - Oh dear lord. If you don't play this song at max volume then you can't judge it. Mikes rapping is ridiculous. Chester's singing is ridiculous. This song will MELT FACE LIVE.

    11. Wisdom, Justice, And Love - Another interlude. This one is of a speech by MLK which gets more distorted as it goes on which leads into...

    12. Iridescent - This is one of my favorite songs. It has some epic drumming (think Across the line / TLTGYA build up drumming) along with some sweet chanting, I guess? Really drew me in.

    13. Fallout - Another interlude, but this one I liked. Mike took Chester's lyrics from "Burning in the Skies" (the lyrics from above) sang them, then distorted his voice. I thought it was cool.

    14. The Catalyst - Lol you know.

    15. The Messenger - Starts with acoustic guitar, then Chester singing with acoustic guitar, then some piano?

    1. I also had a comment about Tron sounding, good intro, gets you amped

    2. Speech, I forgot the theme but I remember it is powerful

    3. Solid much better with song 2 interlude

    4. I wrote down 20 seconds of Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland.

    5. Heavy, heavy song I remember there was a section with Chester signing over a Muse type electro guitar track I caught the phrase "forfeit the game!!!!!"

    6. Don't recall/ Not blown away

    7. Spacey noises

    8. This song has EVERYTHING. Rapping/singing aggressive/ soft and the beat kicks in perfectly on every verse

    9. New Favorite LP song knocking Faint of the list (NIN Great Destroyer meets New Divide techno bridge)

    10. In Stereo kick with There they go pace! Full of Win Chanting Front back side to side at the end. HELL OF A LIVE SONG

    11. Cool outro with a space shuttle launch noise repeats the main phrase of the speech then morphs into robotic voice!

    12. Good, don't recall too much

    13. Dont remember I wrote down "Steven Hawking" Yes Im going to hell but just wait and see for yourself

    14. Win

    15. NOT HERO OF WAR. Much more powerful but almost stripped. Fitting end to the story of ATS!

I think people will be slightly more receptive to this because the tempo is similar but due to the electronic nature of the songs it feels more aggressive

  4. While the review gets going I'll hit some other stuff not related to the songs

    - We got to see the album art. There is ZERO writing on the cover! The Holifoil is bad ass

    - 20 people listened to the cd in a room with no headphones just a ton of speakers. First time around was solid. "Grover" "The guy who runs the label" took requests and played 6 songs a second time FULL BLAST and damn did it make a difference!

    - The next single is already set but not disclosed

    - The department of homeland security was NOT guarding the record

    - Label was somewhat surprised at the positive feedback compared to other events

    - Journey indeed

    - LP SWAG! (CDs and posters)

    - No members of LP were in attendance

    - We are now convinced (Thanks Adam/Jess) that the laser show will pwn your face!

    - LP was basically given full artistic freedom on ATS

    Think that was about it

Words cannot describe how appreciative of the selection I am! TY Adam

  5. IM BACK! Look through my twitter for a ridic amount of info. Im going song by song right now in MS word and writing what I remember. Ill post it soon.

I'm too amped to recall everything. Ill piggie back of your post when you throw it up.

    BTW Blackout was AH-MAZ-ING

  6. DAMNIT KROQ just played the Q for the what Mike is now calling "Brunch" with K&B/ caller 20 wins blah blah balh. I spammed the KROQ number and heard "KROQ caller 19!" Son of a...

Hopefully I can get through for steet team since my employer just recently blocked CBS radio from their online server!!!!!!

  7. maybe 1-2 songs from ATS, 1 from the other 3 albums and New Divide.

I'm only thinking they'll play 2-3 ATS songs in NY. Based off of what they pulled out for M2M at Webster (NMS, GU, WID) the new songs are more complicated and with all the press they'll probably tinker more on the road to add more as the shows go on.

  8. LP has a trillion different touring rigs; very easy for them to play LA one day and NYC the next.

Good news. I wasn't sure how official this was going to be so I didn't know if they were going for a decent set-up to practice for the tour. Ala, Joes description of an eyegasm on stage. Got my fingers crossed it'll be after 9/7 when I get back.

  9. I am having a little luck getting in contact with "Lightning" from KROQ about any other details. I'm just looking for a date of when this will take place. The contest ends 9/3 and I'd imagine the gear needs 3-4 days to get from LA to NY.

I'm going to the listening event tonight then flying to Cincinatti tomorrow coming back Monday then Laser show Tuesday! Got my fingers crossed to pull a trifecta and go to all three but I don't know if I should get my hopes up if the show will be in LA while I'm gone.

  10. Im done with school in Fullerton at 2:15 and Im going to head straight there in order miss / sit in LA traffic. Its a 50 minute drive so if theres no traffic, then by 315. Earlier, yes, but better than late. :D

sweet I'll prob leave a little earler because Im coming from the inland empire. Sould only take 1:15 with no traffic so I just gotta get lucky with traffic. Your goin to the laser show too right? Im freakin excited!

  11. We did not get the pre sale code in the email till much later time and tickets were sold out by then. Now they email us for a second pre sale and we cannot get tickets. Ive been trying all morning and something is screwed up in the system they said to buy at 10:00am.

Adam through up the email details on the LPU news page at around 9:45am EST

  12. I kinda wish these two bits of info (Listening party and NY tickets) would have stayed private. I'm guessing everybody here is on the LP distribution list but I would like to reward those who are resourceful instead of opening up the flood gates to spam on the LPU during these times and people who spam the hell out of the listening party email.

    IMO

  13. I really don't like the Chester with two mouths lol it looks so strange. I really hope there's a longer version of this video because I don't like the radio edit.

Overall, I like the video and the effects, it's not my fave LP video but I think it will grow on me.

    Looks like Picasso style...
